| We are a state-of-the-art, high volume, spay
and neuter clinic, one of only a few in the country. We have performed over
57,000 surgeries since opening in 2001.
Mission
PAWS Chicago envisions a no-kill Chicago--a city in which pets are not
destroyed just because they are homeless. The only way to control dog and
cat overpopulation and the killing of adoptable animals is by decreasing
birth rates. This is why we opened the Lurie Family Spay/Neuter Clinic - the
only spay and neuter clinic of its kind located in and serving Chicago's
under served communities.

Frequent Concerns/Myths about Spay/Neuter
| - |
It will make my pet fat! Spay and Neutering does not make your pet fat, lack of exercise and too
much food are responsible for that. |
| - |
It will change my pet's personality, he will no longer be a "man".
Spaying and Neutering does not change your pet's identity or personality,
pets reproduce from instinct and will live more relaxed and happier lives
when sterilized. |
| - |
The surgery is too stressful.
Spaying and Neutering is less stressful than having litter after litter of
puppies or kittens. |
| - |
My pet is too young or too old. We will sterilize as young as two months as long as they weigh two
pounds. If your pet is over 6 years old we require blood work to ensure
your pet is healthy enough to undergo anesthesia. |

| Did
you know? |
| - |
One female cat and her
offspring can produce over 420,000 cats in seven years! |
| - |
In 2006, 19,701
cats and dogs were killed in Chicago's shelters. |
| - |
80% of impounded cats are killed in shelters every year! |
| - |
Spaying and neutering stops the cycle
of breeding and killing. |
| - |
Euthanasia is the #1 killer of cats. |
| - |
Each day 10,000 humans are born in the
U.S. and each day 70,000 puppies
and kittens are born. As a result, every year 4 to 6 dogs and
cats are euthanized in animals shelters. |
