To adopt a dog from PAWS Chicago you should:
		Be at least 18 years of age.
		Have a form of identification (license or state ID).
		Verify that you are allowed to have a pet of the breed and size where you currently live.
		Be able to spend the time and resources necessary to provide the training, medical treatment and proper care for your pet.
		Bring along all family members including any resident dogs or children for an introduction to a new dog.
		Understand that our adoption fee is $205.00 for adult dogs and $255.00 for puppies (under 6 months). You will have four months from the date of the adoption to complete a basic obedience training class with your new puppy/dog. When you provide proof that your PAWS dog has completed a course, we will reimburse you $75 of the fee you submitted at the time of adoption.
		Be able to take the animal home on the day of adoption
		Have the time to spend up to an hour with an adoption counselor to discuss the responsibility of owning a pet and making it a lifetime commitment.

What is Foster-to-Adopt?

Foster-To-Adopt is a great way to see if a dog or cat is a good fit for an adopter’s lifestyle. At PAWS Chicago, adopters get a two week “trial period” with their new pet to see how things go at home before finalizing the adoption. If the cat or dog is not a good fit, the adoption fee is refundable within the first 2 weeks.

All PAWS Chicago dogs are temperament tested, spayed/neutered,
microchipped, heartworm tested, have received preliminary
vaccinations appropriate to the age of the animal and come with a
complimentary overall wellness exam and 14-day follow up care through a
partnership with VCA Animal Hospitals.
