Hi PAWS,
Sadie (PAWS name Laura) is doing very well. We couldn't love her more. She just graduated from puppy preschool and knows how to stay, come, sit, lay down, shake and role over; we can't believe how smart she is. We took her home at 7 pounds and she know weighs almost 40! She is beautiful and lively; we can't imagine not having her in our house. She has
three favorite things: laying on our guest bed and looking out the window at
the people and dogs on the street, laying in bed with me in the mornings, and playing at dog parks. Sadie is wonderfully good natured, and we thank you for leading us to such a wonderful companion! - Brooke & Josh

Hi PAWS,
Mambo is great! He is very sweet and loves to snuggle and take naps. He also follows me and my roommate around wherever we go. We love him and are very happy he is in our lives. Thanks!
- Symphony Sanders

Hi PAWS,
We just wanted to let you know that Piper and Scrappy (previous PAWS names Skeeter and Scooter) are doing very well. Scrappy is the orange kitten, and Piper is the brown tabby. They were extremely shy for the first month or so but have now really come around. They are such a delight and we couldn't be happier with them! Thanks so much to you and the help of everyone at PAWS for everything. We have loved watching their
personalities change from insecure, scared little kittens to very lively and loveable kitties. A special thanks to Monika for helping us with the adoption process and following up afterwards. Thanks again! - Holly Estlack and Craig Achee

Hello PAWS Chicago,
We just wanted to drop a quick note about our love Dexter (PAWS name Hugo). As you can see from the pictures we ended up with another dog after Dexter came to us. His name is Bruno. He is also a rescue. He's just a touch younger than Dexter, and they get along great! Dexter has put on a few pounds, which suits him wonderfully, and he could not be more gentle with Bruno, who is 35 pounds lighter, in addition to being gentle with all
dogs for that matter. He is still a wild child with his own mind, but he snuggles all the time. We could not be more grateful to PAWS for bringing us together. We have recently moved to Massachusetts, and Dexter and Bruno are learning about the forest and all the adventures it holds and love it. :) Thank you. - Damema, Melissa, Dexter & Bruno Siegel-Spragens

Dear PAWS,
Santos (PAWS name Butternut Squash), his sister Molly, and I are doing very well. We all moved into our very own place September 1st and are finally settled and feeling like it is a home. Santos is growing like a weed and loves to play with his older sister all of the time. Some of his favorite past times are: unrolling the toilet paper roll, stealing unattended caps from soda bottles, running through the house like a wild boar, batting my nose
when I am asleep, and of course "testing out his meow". Now that you know his naughty side let me tell you about his wonderful, soft side. He truly is a God send. I am about four months out of a long term relationship and he has really "helped" me to get through some tough days. I remember one particularly bad day that I had: I was lying down staring at the ceiling and crying my eyes out, when Santo's head appeared in my line of view. He then positioned himself between my shoulder and my cheek and curled up into a ball. So I had a purring, fuzzy pillow to "protect" me during my long cry. I am grateful to everyone at PAWS and I will surely adopt from your center again. If anyone adopts a kitten half as sweet as Santos, they will be bringing an angel home. Again, thank you for providing a little companion to accompany me during my short stay on this planet. Warm Regards, Jenny Espinosa

Hi PAWS!
All is well! Rosa's new name is now Lady D (short for Lady De Ridder) and she just loves everyone! She is still getting used to the cats so I keep her in my room when I'm at work. One cat is too lazy to run so there is no problem there but the other isn't as social and runs when Lady comes into the room which only encourages Lady to chase her. Lady is a bullet in the back yard. She darts after anything that moves so all the squirrels knows

who is boss there. Now that the leaves are falling she is so cute in checking out the back yard any time she hears one fall! Thanks! - Heather De Ridder

PAWS Chicago,
Ivy is doing well. She spends her days working very hard. As you're probably aware, in a cat's world, it's a daily job going from bed to chair to couch to chair and back again. She rules our apartment and our hearts! I have attached a picture of her playing with her favorite toy. Also, she is a very good alarm clock!
- Jillian

PAWS Chicago,
Everything with the adoption is going well, we changed Isaac's name to Humpfrey Bogart as soon as we adopted him because of his need to mount every dog he sees when we take him to the doggy park. Bogart is an extremely energetic dog, which is really great because our other dog, his new sister, Coco is just as energetic. Bogart has learned so much since going to puppy school and we feel he is so much more well behaved
than when we first adopted him. He is completely house trained now and knows sit, stay, shake, lay down and leave it. Adopting Bogart was one of the best things we have done to make our home complete. Coco loves her brother and we love our big baby Bogart. Thank you PAWS, Jose and Claudia

PAWS Chicago,
My daughter Elyssa and I have really grown attached to Oreo (PAWS name Bailey) and he, as well, has gotten very attached to us. He has grown since the time we picked him up from your facility. Hope all is well. Have a fun and exciting day.
Thanks, Tony and Elyssa

Hi PAWS,
Dinah and Fridah (now known as Jasper & Ginger) are doing great. They have been excellent companions for both my girlfriend and myself. We enjoy watching them grow and play around our apartment every day. Thanks so much!
- Brad

Dear PAWS,
Zan and Jayna also known as the Wondertwins (PAWS names were Cliff and Clarise) are doing great! This photo is for their 2006 Christmas card. Zan loves to snuggle and read with Mommy every night, and Jayna LOVES to play fetch with Daddy's old socks. They are both doing great and we love them very much! Thanks PAWS!
- Carol & Mike Nagel

Hi PAWS,
Irma (now renamed Remy), is doing very well. She is great, very playful, and affectionate. She adjusted fine and seems happy.
- Chris

Hello PAWS,
Janet is doing very well. She is eating well and using the litter box well. Best of all, she gets along with my other cat, Mink. I groom her a few times a week since she sheds a lot and she's quite vocal. She's got tons of toys to play with and I finally found a scratching post surface that she likes (the honeycomb cardboard kind). She's playful; both cats chase each other back and forth a few times a day. Sometimes she's skittish and
runs away, but when you get close enough you can pick her up and cuddle. She's not a lap cat, but she does rub her face and nose into mine. It's very cute. Her face is irresistible. She's made herself quite at home. Thanks for everything. - Kim

Hi PAWS:
Lolabelle (PAWS name Lola) is sweet and wonderful. I love her and she's a smart beautiful addition to my household. My three cats are getting use to her and she's great with them.
- Gail King

Dear PAWS Chicago,
Bella (PAWS name Shiloh) is doing great. She is still a playful bundle of joy. I couldn't imagine my life without her. She loves to cuddle. We're currently looking for a little sister for her to play with.
- Danya and Erik

Hey PAWS!
Boris (former PAWS name Emmit) is turning into quite the nice young gentleman. He's currently enrolled in puppy class and has become a vital third member of our family. Thanks again for everything and keep up the good work!
- Josh

PAWS Chicago -
We wanted to let you know that Morris and Little Red are doing wonderful! Both are still full of energy and are a tremendous joy to have as part of our family. Thanks!
- Marissa & Rafael Bucio

Hi PAWS!
We are loving Tallulah! What a difference she has made in our lives. PAWS, your dedication and love for animals pays off. We are very grateful!
Enjoy, Sharron and Jonathan and the kids: Claire (8), Matthew (6), Lincoln (3)

Hi PAWS,
Simon is doing great! His character comes out more and more the longer he's around his new digs. He's definitely a very unique kitty, and I'm happy to have him around. He sleeps in my bed every night (I don't even bring him in the bedroom when I retire anymore; he always comes in when he's ready) and has his own spots around my apartment that he has chosen as "his" own. A good kitty, to be certain. Thanks! - Ben

Hi PAWS Chicago,
Josie is doing just great. Both she and the cats have adjusted to their new family. For awhile, our home sounded like a zoo: one cat meowing constantly trying to make friends with Josie and the other hissing and growling all while running away. At first, Josie would bark, growl and then chase them a bit. She now knows none of that is not allowed and has learned the house rules. She loves to be near us and also enjoys nice long
walks where she barks and chases the local geese. She also has become quite the princess dog. Apparently she loves to snuggle on the bed with down comforters and pillows. She is quite the loving pooch! We are very grateful for her and would adopt again when the time comes. Thanks! - Chris and Holly

Hi PAWS Chicago!
Sneakers is WONDERFUL!!!! I love him dearly and he is getting along very well with my other cat, Chester. I am very lucky to have such wonderful babies. Thanks!
- Krista

Hey PAWS!
This is me, Quinn, saying hi. I have a picture with me and the sink where I like to play. I was told kitties don't normally like water but for some reason I enjoy it. Don't tell my owners, but I only really do it because after I get wet they wrap me in a towel and that's really comfortable. Please remember to tell my PAWS brother Ivan I said hi and I hope he is behaving. Thank you! - Quinn

PAWS,
Wilma
is doing great! She and Savannah (PAWS also) are now the best of friends. She is about 35 pounds, all black with solid extra long Elvis chest hair. She is a wonderful addition to our family. Did I mention she is a talker? Mostly about 2 in the morning. We have no idea why. It has become a joke in our family. We cannot get her to stop. Good thing she has a small voice. - Erik W. Kolacz, David Kroeger, Savannah, & Wilma

Hey PAWS,
Puffy is great! We renamed him Bogi! I just love him so much!! He still loves his tennis balls. He is also in obedience school and he is the best one in class so far! Thank you so much!
- Melissa

Hi PAWS Chicago,
The orange and white one is Lulu (formerly Star Baby) and the black and white one is Abner (Rex). We love them so much, and they're such a joy to have in the house. My mom was very sick and passed away so the past several months have been really bad personally and so they've really shed sunshine on my life when I needed it most. I love them desperately. They both sleep on me every night. I think they do it more for my sake than theirs, and I love it. - Brian

Dear PAWS,
This is Lucy (formerly PAWS name Krumb) all ready for Halloween! In the six weeks we've had her, she's gotten much bigger. She's up to 17 pounds now and is doing great with the housebreaking! She is still very sweet and very friendly. Usually she only barks for three distinct reasons: she needs to go out, she is hungry, or it's past her nap time in my lap.
- Mike & Mark

Ella (PAWS name Pina) has adjusted to her new home beautifully! She is a very talkative girl, who loves to cuddle and is very sweet! She spends her time looking out the window at the street below, playing in the bathtub or with water dripping from the sink, and also by jumping onto whatever her mommy is working on for attention! She even does well in car rides and at the vet! Ella is very much loved and cherished by her new mom! Thanks so much! - Aliana Smith

Hi PAWS Chicago,
Leon is now known as Seamus, and he is doing well. He's a really good boy and a great joy to me. He's on a regular feeding schedule and is mostly easy to manage. I've signed him up for training at Kovan that starts in a few weeks. This week I am making a checkup appointment for him at our vet.
Thanks so much, Rob

Hi PAWS Chicago,
Here's a picture of our little Annie (PAWS name Anabel). She is doing wonderful. She is adjusting well to her new home and we are having a great time with her. She is currently attending obedience classes on Saturdays at PETCO. Thanks for everything!
- Ben and Betsy Jansky

Dear All Our Friends at PAWS,
We adopted Murphy (PAWS name Dean) back in June. We had seen Dean about two weeks before at your downtown adoption event. He looked so timid and shy - just shaking with all the people. We thought he was adorable, but we have two kids and 4 other dogs so we thought he would just be overwhelmed. Well, were we wrong! From the day we brought him home, he jumped right in with the gang! We can't thank you enough for
taking Murphy in and loving and caring for him until we found each other. He fills our days with joy and laughter, and we can't even remember life before him. Thank you for your countless hours of dedication to these orphans.
- The Sineni Family (Tony, Kim, Katelyn, Daniel, Abby, Hobbes & Murphy)

Hi PAWS,
Candi is doing great at her new home! She's made friends with my other cat, Cotton Candy, and they play and sleep together everyday now. She's so active and curious. :)
Best, Betty

Hi PAWS,
Buster is doing awesome. He has finally gotten used to living with me...maybe a little to used to it because now he thinks he is the king - haha! I took him to visit my aunt's kindergarten class a couple of weeks ago and he had a blast with all of the little kids. Things are fantastic. Thanks!
- Jennifer

Hi PAWS Chicago,
I wanted to give you a Logan update. We've been together for about a month now. He sleeps 8 or 9 hours straight at night and has no problems. I think Logan was food and water deprived at one time in his life which made him hysterical, but Logan is getting better and better each day. He now walks away from water, instead of constantly playing in it. We also started working with a GREAT trainer - Jeff Millman at ChicagoPaws.
We are training Logan using Click and Treat to direct his behavior outside from birds to humans. He is so smart and eager to please that he has responded incredibly with the training. He can now be out for over 20 minutes on leash without barking, lunging, etc., at birds and squirrels. Brittanys need lots of attention in the home and we are fortunate that Jay is retired and home most of the day. We still have much work to do, but the bottom line Logan is a doll and will always have a home with us. Thanks for everything! - Rita Ryan & Jay Kovar

Pixie

Hello PAWS Chicago!
We renamed Pixie and Funny Face. Pixie is now Venus and Funny Face is Jupiter and they learned their new names in a couple of days. They have gotten pretty big but we think they are still pretty small. They have pretty much taken over our condo; they own this place. We spoil them like crazy too.
I think they are really happy and we are so happy to

Funny Face

have them as well. We just love our new additions! Thanks! - Joe and Nicole

Dear PAWS Chicago:
Bebe has become quite comfortable in her new home. She is so much fun to have around the house. She has such a quirky personality and she is so loving. I am so lucky to have gotten such a wonderful dog!
- Ryin

We just love Sydney (PAWS name Ambrose). He's been a great addition to our home. We enjoy watching him play and run around the house. He especially loves exploring and causing trouble with his big sister, Dizzie. I've attached a picture of him with his favorite mouse toy. It's attached to a stick but that doesn't stop him from dragging the whole thing around with him wherever he goes. Sydney is just such a sweetheart; we feel so lucky to have him. Thanks, Heather & Rob

Hello PAWS:
It's been a wonderful 2 weeks with Ruby (PAWS name Florence)! She and my cats (Grace and Trixie) are slowly getting acquainted. There have been the occasional hisses from the cats, but Ruby now understands what I've been telling her all along: we're only there to service the cat's needs, not the other way around. Once she figured out the
pecking order in the house, things got better. Ruby is enjoying her walks in the neighborhood and charms everyone she meets. I can't imagine life without her! Thanks for all your help with the adoption process. - Patty

Hey PAWS!
Things are great with Molly and Sam. My son was very happily surprised and has been having a ball with them ever since they joined our family. He's so sweet. He asked if we could keep their names the same but give them nicknames. So Molly and Sam it is! They seem very well adjusted but I have to tell you: While I thought Molly was active, Sam sneaks around corners and pops out on Molly. He then hides behind the pillows
on the couch and reaches his paw out to get Molly when she comes along and continues to chase her out of the litter box. Molly is pretty good at giving it back but I have to admit, it's been a lot of fun watching the two of them take over my house. Thanks for giving us a chance. Both Jordan and I are quite pleased with the new addition to our little family. Thanks again!
- Jennifer Reid

Hi PAWS Chicago,
Marbles is doing just fine. He seems very happy here with all the love and care we are providing for him. After some adjustment time, he has become very comfortable with my older cat and she has accepted him. They are like real companions; they play, eat, sleep together, and have learned to share the infamous purple dome chair.
- Eunice Park

Hi PAWS,
Things are going very well. Karlee is great. She is about 14 pounds now and full of energy. Thanks so much!
- Amy

Dear PAWS Chicago,
Finally, good ol' Jack has found a home! We fell in love with him at Poochapalooza this summer and sought him out when we decided to get a new dog last month. He settled into his new environment quickly and especially loves his daily walks through the park next door, where keeping him away from the squirrels can be a full-time job. People who witness his super-high-energy personality would never believe that he's really one of
the most well-behaved dogs in the world. Kudos to his foster parents and the trainers at K-9 University. We also continue to get a kick out of his rock-star status in the Chicago animal rescue scene. Everywhere we take him (obedience classes, pet shops, PAWS events, the vet), there's always someone who exclaims "Ohmygod it's Jack!!" and runs up to say hi. Jack enjoys the recognition, too: every new encounter triggers a condition in him known as "wigglebutt." An ailment common in many dogs, wigglebutt has no known cure, but can be treated with lots of ear scratches and rawhides. Many thanks for bringing all of us together. - Magda Slowik, Bob McLennan & (of course) Jack

Hi PAWS Chicago,
Comet is doing great! I think we have almost identical personalities, so we get along perfectly and she's adapted well to our space. Attached is a photo of Comet on her couch on just her second morning in her new home. As you can see, she was already very relaxed! :)
- Lybra Lindke

Hello PAWS! Just wanted to drop a line to let you know that Levee (PAWS name "Sadie"), our adorable Hurricane Rescue, is the BEST DOG EVER. We are absolutely head-over-heels in love with her. She is a total lover, is wonderful at meeting new people, kids, other dogs and is learning so quickly. She is a total clown and just loves to be around people. She is starting to put on weight and boy does she love her dog toys! We want to thank you for bringing her into our lives. We feel like we hit the lottery; we
couldn't have asked for a better dog! Thanks again! - Nora McMahon and Kevin Poulsen
