Hi PAWS!
Tony
and Tina (now Mina) are doing great. Adopting two special needs cats seemed like a risky proposition at first but they have more than adjusted to their new safe environment and continue to surprise me with new games and behaviors. They were born with cerebellar hypoplasia (common in stray kittens) and wobble when they walk. Otherwise, they are the most affectionate, smart cats on the block! Thanks PAWS for bringing them to me. - Kim Boggs

Dear PAWS Chicago,
I just wanted to send a picture of Fletcher (PAWS name Grover-adopted December 2001) and Timmy (PAWS name Lamont-fostered March 2004/adopted April 2004) to you. In the beginning, I never imagined that these two could lay down next to each other and be nice to one another - now they are almost always in the same room, playing with each other, sleeping next to each other, etc. They are a pretty
incredible pair of pooches. Thank you and the entire PAWS staff for being so patient with me and our dynamic duo!  Timmy and I are enrolled in a Basic obedience class currently and occasionally attend a free "doggy socialization" class that another rescue group in the suburbs runs. He does incredibly well. He's getting mature in every way and physically changing a bit here and there as well. One of the most obvious changes that Timmy's undergone is that his hair is now completely straight; we're not sure exactly why this change occurred but he's just as cute as ever. - Laura Blus and Dennis Szymkowiak

Dear PAWS Chicago,
The kittens, renamed Eli and Margot, are doing wonderfully and loving their new home. We've had several rounds of out-of-town visitors over the month they've been with us, and every single one of them loved the cats. They are very friendly, especially when they've spent all afternoon running around and have tired themselves out enough to sit on your lap! Margot is very vocal and likes to sit in the bathtub
(though she has a hard time telling when it's full of water and when it isn't...). Eli still has very big feet and ears, so we think he's going to be a big boy. They both like being cradled on their backs in our arms, and when they fall asleep that way (especially in one of our friend's arms) everybody just coos. - Laura Fletcher

Dear PAWS
My husband and I adopted Payton (PAWS name Polly) a few months ago and what a wonderful addition to our family she is!  Payton now has an older brother & a sister her age to romp around with in our yard and they love her as much as we do!  Payton loves to cuddle and will do so every opportunity she gets.  Payton is such a sweet soul and we are as happy to have her in our family as she is to be here.  Thank you PAWS Chicago

for the work that you do and for our sweet girl Payton. - Mr. & Mrs. Huntowksi

Ollie (formerly
Captain)

Dear PAWS Chicago,
Life started out stacked against these two terrier scamps. Ollie (known around PAWS as the Captain) was an anti-cruelty foster puppy being housed two doors away from our house. Who could resist? He had Tullman written all over him. Then last summer at a lovely party at the Fasseas’ farm, Tramp (formerly Boomer) was brought out, along with seven other dogs rescued by PAWS volunteers from an abusive

Tramp (formerly Boomer)

home. One look in his eyes and another Tullman was adopted. They both lived happily ever after with our PAWS cat Bugsy and fat cat Pinky.  - Howard Tullman

Dear PAWS Chicago,
Frisco
was thrilled to see a picture of his sibling, Dakota, in the PAWS Alumni page and did not want to be left out. The family resemblance is uncanny!  Both appeared together in a PAWS adoption picture in February 2004. Frisco has taken the summer off after seven weeks of intense hard work at obedience school. At seven months of age he stands 20" tall, weighs over 30 lbs. and is growing into a very good-natured, rambunctious
puppy. He's very smart, quick to learn new tricks and very eager to please, provided there's an adequate supply of his favorite treats! We are most proud of him for learning to ring a bell whenever he needs to go outside. He loves playing in the park and is an extremely social puppy. He loves chasing and running with older dogs but is also extremely playful and patient with younger puppies. We are so lucky to have found him! - Carlos Martinez

Hello PAWS,
Here is a picture of our little "Snickerdoodle" who is the apple of our eye. She is the goofiest, sweetest little kitty - full of energy and always ready to tackle her toy mouse or play hide-n-seek with her dad. She has brought so many giggles and happy times to our lives since we adopted her and we are very grateful to the wonderful staff of PAWS!

- Amy Cox

Hi PAWS Chicago,
We adopted Missy (PAWS name Lexi) in February. At that time, she was very tiny, weighing nine pounds at 2-1/2 months and did not believe she would grow much. Well, she is six months old and a hard-bodied (all muscle) forty-six pounds and still going. She eats more than our larger dog. Missy, who now lives in Gurnee, IL likes her new pool, with water too, and likes to jump on it when it is turned over. She loves the water jet
spray from the hose and gets a good flossing, though her favorite is the mist setting. She is doing wonderfully, sits, stays, is house trained, comes when called, is good around people, other dogs, horses, etc. She also gets along with our cat, and other dog. She loves to go on long walks, and sleep in the sun.  We feel fortunate to have adopted such a wonderful, well adjusted dog and hope her bothers and sisters are doing well. Thank you for letting us give her a home and for all your efforts on behalf of other strays.- Joe & Ruth Krota

Hi PAWS!
Kirby (PAWS name Christopher) is growing like a weed!  He loves people and other dogs.  Kirby is enjoying the summertime in Chicago by learning to swim and playing at the park. He is a very curious and loving pooch, and we can't imagine life without him.  Thank you PAWS for all you do for the Chicago dog community!

Dear PAWS Chicago,
Rocky
was a great find!  My fiancée, Selina, saw him and said we have to have him.  She is a great judge of character.  He is a great addition to the family and everyone loves him, even babies.  We just spent a weekend with our friends in
Wisconsin and he was great with the two babies.  He licked them constantly at first but it caused the 6 and 9 month old to cry so by the end of the weekend Rocky would just sit next to them and watch. They

all became good buddies by Sunday.  Rocky is a head-turner and gets lots of attention wherever we go.  He has become a big part of our family and it is hard to imagine not having him with us.

Hi PAWS,
I was thinking of you over the weekend and realized that I should let everybody know how great our little Desi (Destiny) is doing these days. Her health has been very good, and she is sweet as ever. We went camping last month and discovered that she loves, loves, loves to swim. She gets into the water and runs
back and forth as fast as she can trying to eat the splashes. It is the cutest thing ever. We certainly can't imagine life without Desi (and can't really remember life before Desi!), and are thankful every day for all of the wonderful people who helped her get to us.

Dear PAWS Chicago,
I thought I would update you on how Daisy (Prancer) is doing. She is enjoying the warm weather and long walks around Brookfield almost every day. Her favorite game is fetch in the back yard. And she will fetch almost anything, my gardening tools, large tree limbs, the leaf refuse bag, etc. She loves visiting with the neighbor dogs and never barks at them. Tail wagging, she runs up and down the length of the fence. She keeps us on
our toes with her energy and antics. She is adored and loved. She would love to hear how any of her siblings, the other "Reindeer Pups" are doing.  Thanks again, Laura and Len.

Here is a picture of Dakota on the day he graduated from puppy school.  We adopted Dakota back in March and he has been nothing, but wonderful.  He loves to cuddle when he sleeps and play ball.  He loved playing with the bigger dogs at puppy school.  Dakota gets to see his sister, Paducah, a couple times a week.  Our cousin adopted her.  They love playing each with each other.  Thanks for letting Dakota become a part of our lives. - Sandman Sisters & Dakota

Hi PAWS Chicago,
We adopted Rhumba recently.  He's doing so well with us, and we love him a lot.  He's rambunctious and keeps us on our toes, and always making us laugh.  He and his new stepsister seem to be getting a long well, and they even nap together during the day.  Thanks for helping us find such a wonderful cat!
- Jen & Tom

Today the PAWS organization was promoting Angels with Tails on FOX News in the Morning. It reminded me of a similar broadcast 3 years ago when you brought a wonderful dog named Charlie to a similar program. I fell in love with the puppy. The next day we went to Michigan Avenue in search of our pup. We drove around until we found the store Charlie was in, and took him home.  He had a rough time at first (as did our couches), but he is our good boy, and a great "big brother." Thank you so much for our

dog. He is unique and loving, and everyone in the neighborhood knows Charlie! Thanks again!
