Moe, Come Play With Us! Larry, Moe and Curley were three 5-week-old Lab Mixes that were rescued by a kind police officer and made their way into my house via PAWS. They looked like little black piglets, clucked like chickens and bounced about like little bunnies. Larry was the sweetest and least demanding, he was just happy to be held and get his share of soft-boiled egg and puppy food. Curley was the largest and biggest baby, whimpering and shaking for attention and love. Moe was the most
advanced and worldly of the three - he led the escape under the kitchen gate to the rest of the house on the second day. He always had to rearrange the fresh bedding for the group. He was the alpha doggie, the boss. Larry now lives in NW Indiana suburbs. Curley was adopted by me, his foster mom, and is the city slicker of Wicker Park, tolerating two resident cats. These two brothers romp and play together in town or at the Dunes; playing with sticks in the water or on land is the most fun. They wish they could meet up with the wise one, Moe. All are about 10-11 months as of this letter. Larry is now known as Chippie, and Curley goes by Chuckie or Chuckie Cheese, and whatever Moe's new name is, we'd love to see him. Come play with us. Thanks, PAWS, for these wonderful pooches, Chuckie's adopted mom, Karen Linden.

Just wanted to drop you a line with a few pictures. My wife and I adopted Pete (now Foster) an Australian Shepard mix Sunday, October 6th at the Run for Their Lives race. He has been a wonderful addition to our growing family (Abbey-cat, Piddle- turtle, tank full of fish) & an incredible companion. We just wanted to thank you for the honorable service you provide in fostering so many home deserving animals & working so diligently towards a no-kill future. Thanks again, Lyle & Jennifer Healy

Gidget Here is a photo of Gidget, who was adopted nearly two weeks ago from PAWS. At first she was timid and reserved, but now she is an energy-filled machine. I am grateful that PAWS Chicago saved her and did not allow for her litter to be destroyed.
Thank you PAWS,
Brent S.

Hi PAWS!
This is me with my new cat, Jerry. I was lonely living all by myself, so my niece and nephew were kind enough to give me Jerry as a Christmas gift this year. Since they brought him to me, he has barely left my lap! I love to take care of him, feed him, and give him lots of love and attention, and he returns that love tenfold!  We have become great friends. Even though my nephew says I spoil Jerry with too many treats, I think he deserves them!

Thank you, PAWS, for rescuing my new friend from the streets of Chicago. - Anne P.

I am attaching a picture of three of the Weimaraner pups adopted in January (Emma - gray, Margo - brown and Bela - black). The three of us are in touch (after randomly meeting at the beach one day this summer) and hope you can help us meet the other litter mates (I think there were 7-9 total!). We celebrated the girls' first birthday last Wednesday and hope to have many more parties with
additional siblings! Thank you! - Angie

Tyra Wanted to write to let you know how two former PAWS cats are doing. Maura ("Annie", adopted May 2001) transitioned beautifully to our home; we opened the carrier door, she sauntered out, laid down on a rug and took a nap. Napping is her main activity; she mixes it up by seeking new napping places, including the too small shoebox in the picture. She ended up crushing that box and has now moved on to a tall boot box. Maura is afraid of nothing, very talkative and loves to be brushed. Tyra
("Stella", November 2001) is the opposite of Maura. She is curious, playful and shy. Tyra loves to play with her toys, lay in sunny spots and get her belly rubbed while she stretches across the morning paper. The two get along like little sisters: often bickering and teasing each other, playing their daily games of tag and hide-and-go-seek, and when they think no one is looking Maura
they will nap near each other, often with one resting an outstretched paw on the other. Thanks for introducing us to these two cool cats! - Jennifer Lucas and David Holdreith

Porter I recently attended the CB2uesday event and was asked how Lorenzo (now known as Porter) was doing. I adopted Porter during the September 7th PETCO adoption event and since then he has quickly proven himself an intelligent companion. In the past two months, he has mastered a few tricks: sit, lay down, up, roll over, shake, high five, sit-stay, and when I set his food  bowl down, he waits until I tell him his food is ready! I have not even had a chance to take him to doggie school yet! His next few tricks are
speak and wag the tail. Around town, he knows how to ham up to everyone with his ears . . . ears up, ears back, one ear up, the other ear flopping over. He definitely knows how to be the center of attention! Porter sends thanks to those who fostered him during his stay with PAWS and for all the attention you gave him. Thanks again, Dave

Quinn and Kylie are our angels with tails. They have truly been wonderful members of our family. Quinn was adopted December 1999 and Kylie was adopted January 2001. We have also gotten involved with PAWS as Adoption Counselors. We looked forward to volunteering three times a month, until recently, when we welcomed our first baby into this world. We still plan on volunteering with PAWS, because we enjoy to working with the dogs. - Julia and Richard Fernandez Quinn and Kyle

Lucy Dear PAWS,
Lucy
has turned out to be the best roommate I could wish for. She has introduced me to some of my best friends, and two years later, Lucy and I brought home Sophie. Now I can't imagine my life without either one of them. Thank you PAWS for introducing me the Chicago canine culture.
-Susan, Lucy and Sophie

Hi!
This is Julius. He is now about eight months old. He overcame his shyness after living with us for only two days! We really enjoy him, he's quite a character. He's a good boy and spoiled rotten. We love him lots.
Thanks!
Joan & Pat

Pablo and Olivia Thank you so much for introducing us to Pablo & Oliver. We were amazed at how quickly they adjusted to a new environment and how quickly we fell in love with them! They amuse us daily with their antics and are sweet as can be -they love to watch the water in the shower from between the shower curtains, watch the birds in the yard from the window-sills, and cuddle with us at bedtime. After just three weeks, we couldn't imagine life without them. Thanks again, Kourtney Vahle & Brooks Ralston

I had never had a dog and really didn't have any interest in having one. However, my fiancée loves dogs and wanted one very badly, especially after I bought a house with a fenced yard. Well, on her birthday (Oct. 2000) I thought I would make it special by telling her I would be willing to get a dog. To make a long story very short, the dog has totally changed my life so much so that I named a website after him.
The happy Hodge handler, Matt.

Sam Dear PAWS Chicago,
Here is a picture of our dog, Sam. We adopted him at the Angels with Tails on Armitage in August of 1999. He is the best thing that has ever happened to us. He is such a snuggle monster!
Thanks, PAWS!

Diamond and Robert relaxing. Thank you so much for bringing Charlie into my life. He has been a wonderful friend. Lara
