Here is a picture of Jake (PAWS
name Jack), the Jack Russell Mix love of our lives, in
one of his favorite positions for eating a rawhide - atop my husband. We weren't looking for a dog at the
time when we found Jake in front of Lord and Taylor but
who could resist his personality! Everyone in our family
just loves Jake, and he loves EVERYONE - family or not.
When walking with Ted, he will stop and wait when he
sees anyone and will not go until he has had a chance
to say hello. Jake has brightened our lives
immeasurably, and we cannot imagine not having him in
our home.

Dear PAWS Chicago,
We adopted
our kittens from the litter of 31 flavors six months
ago. Now, they are about 9 weeks and 7 months. Gary
and Cholula (formerly Butterscotch and Hershey)
are wonderful kittens. They get along incredibly well and when they're not
playing, they're cuddling together. We really enjoy their sweet (and silly)
personalities. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect duo. Thanks to foster
mom, |
 |
|
Sue, for doing such a great job socializing them and thank you PAWS! - Jessie and Frank |

Hi PAWS,
Here is a picture of Gracie.
We have had her for three months now and she is doing
great. She has taught us a lot - we have also taught her
a little. She gets along great with our cats and is so
sweet with me and my husband. We are all having a lot of
fun and are thankful for PAWS for saving her.

Hey PAWS,
Lenny and Carl
(PAWS names Nickey and Skippy) are having a great time and have
really come into their own. They're so well-behaved, and I'll often wake up with
one of them curled up next to me on either side. The guys are extremely
affectionate and are only frightened by a few things: their reflection, my
sub-woofer speaker, and the evil monster known as the vaccuum. However, they're
still generally confident, beautiful and seem to |
 |
|
be having a great time in their new digs. Thanks to all the folks there at PAWS.
You were excellent! - Thom Sigsby |

Dear PAWS Chicago,
We adopted Kyra and Lulu
one year ago July and we just love them so much! At first we couldn't easily
tell them apart (Lulu is the one in the window), but their personalities quickly
revealed themselves. They really enjoy eating and sleeping at our feet every
night. Favorite spots during the summer include their perches in the sun and
sitting at the screen door to talk to the birds. A new evening routine is to sit
with us on the couch. They |
are such special additions to our lives. Thanks you for helping them find us!

We love having Clover in our
home. She and our other cat, Emma, are doing well.
Clover has made a couple spots around our apartment her
own, including a cushioned chair and our living room
windowsill. She absolutely loves golf balls and batting
the golf club whenever we move it. There's never a time
when she doesn't feel like playing. She's also pretty
smart. Her first night here, she found the hiding
place for the cat treats, grabbed the treats bag in her
mouth, and woke me up by shaking it by my head. For all
that effort, I had to give her one (and find a new
hiding place). Thank you so much, PAWS, for helping us
provide a home for Clover! |

My roommate's boyfriend
fostered Dolly in the winter of 2001. Dolly had a
problem with wetting his bed, even though there was no infection
in her bladder. When he decided that he was not able to foster
her anymore, I gladly adopted her. I used a rubber sheet on my
bed for two years because she's affectionate and very
good-hearted. One day, I took her to the vet for a teeth
cleaning and they found that her |
| creatine levels were high. They gave me cat
food for kidney health,
and it cleared the problem right up! I'm so happy that
she's healthy, and she can sleep on my regular sheets
all day now with NO problems! It just goes to show that
you should never give up on a great pet! I'm glad that I
was patient. - Corinne Wallace |

Diesel, (PAWS name Boston) has
had quite an eventful couple of months since we brought
him home. He is very playful and quite feisty! He puts
everything in his mouth. He actually even swallowed a
beer bottle cap that was lying in the street during one
of his daily walks. Unfortunately, he had to have
stomach surgery. :( Thankfully he came through like a
trooper! He also went to puppy boot camp and is doing
really well. He challenged Monica, his trainer at first
but he soon realized that she meant business. |
 |
| She
marveled at how smart and clever he is. We work with him
everyday and he is becoming a good listener. He likes to
play with his cousins, Thor (rottweiler) and Pepper
(pit bull). He likes to bully them and so far they let
him. Soon he will be moving with us to the city. We are
all looking forward to city life! |

Dear PAWS Chicago,
Bella (PAWS name Camille) is an absolute angel! I can't believe I've
only had her for four months; it seems like she's always been in my life. I have
had dogs all of my life, and I'm not exaggerating when I tell you she is the
sweetest little thing I have ever come across. I tell her everyday how lucky I
am to have found her! My boyfriend and I have a boat, which she just loves to go
on and she even has her own little |
| doggy life vest. She gets so excited when she sees me get the beach bag and cooler ready for the
boat, she starts running around like a maniac! Thanks
for everything! - Gina Russo |

Remember me? You called me
Tyson
buy now I go by the name of Bogie. I am so happy
to be in my new home, my tail just keeps wagging. I have a
playmate that lives with me, Rosie, who is part corgi and we get
along really well. My owners tell me that I am the "best boy"
because I am always so good. I have been in my new home for
almost a month now and I never even had an accident in the
house. Needless to say, my owners are very impressed. I go for long walks
several times a week so I am getting very good with "heel" and I sit every time
my owner stops. I am also trying to learn to jump through a hula hoop. The vet
said I weighed 40 pounds and I should be closer to 60 pounds so I think they are
trying to fatten me up. I |
 |
| even get dog
cookies!
I am a very happy boy, and I wanted to thank everyone at PAWS for
taking such good care of me for those few weeks. I was very
scared but now I feel like I am finally home! Thank you, thank
you!! - Bogie and

Hi! The kittens we adopted from the PAWS
Kitten Connection are doing very well; I can't believe
how big they are now! They have developed very distinct
personalities, too. Winnie (PAWS name Mocha) will
bounce onto our laps as soon as we sit down and start
purring. When she runs around and plays, she makes a
cute giggly meowing noise. Lola (PAWS name Espresso) loves to follow
us around (or be carried around) and likes to hang out in the kitchen with me.
We've also found that she |
|
likes to watch cartoons, and she's also the first to greet us in the morning.

Irie (which
means "everything is good" in Jamaica, one
of our favorite destinations) is doing great! This is my
first follow up, so there are tons of stories!
Basically, she loves to be around people and other dogs.
She also loves to go to the dog beach and steal other
dogs holes! She's doing good with housebreaking (very
few accidents now). She has learned to knock down the
gate when we are gone and loves to do a little
destruction (nothing good has been destroyed)! She starts obedience school on
September 8th at PETCO. We have done some training ourselves, too. She knows
sit, lay down, hug, kiss and paw. She also knows when we come home to sit down
for some petting. She loves to cuddle in the |
 |
morning after "daddy"
leaves for work and in the afternoon she stares out the window waiting for him to come home. She's a great dog, very
affectionate and playful - we love her!

I adopted Lance and Chantilly
through PAWS Chicago's Kitten Connection in February.
Lance and Chantilly have gained about 5-6 lbs. each
since we adopted them. They are the joy and love of our
lives. They love to play "kitty bowling,"
where they chase each other down the hall, tackle the
other, and roll into the door for a strike! They
also love going out on the |
deck for fresh
air and "chattering" with all the birds that
tease them! They are both very sweet and love to cuddle
while watching TV. They truly have brightened our days
and nights.

Dear PAWS Chicago,
Bijou (PAWS name Paris) is now weighing in at 35 lbs. She and
Devin are great buddies, as you can see from the
picture. She has made a wonderful addition to our home
and we love her dearly.

Mom took this picture of me with her new phone/camera, which
Colin bought her! All they do is take pictures of me, but hey .
. . I am cute! I love my new home because I am spoiled with
love. I also get lots of treats -- I recently gained 2 pounds at
the vet. My dad, Colin loves to make my breakfast in the
morning. I love to sleep with Mom and Dad -- I burrow in between
them every night. I also love to use my paw to tap Mom and Dad
when I want something. Last night I kept them up because I was
chasing |
| my tail in
their bed at 4 in the morning. What can I say, I
am the best cat in the world and I love getting all this
attention. I purr all the time and snuggle every night
on the couch with them. Thanks PAWS for my home! Love, Sterling |
