PAWS Chicago Alumni

Touhy (originally Grumbelina) quickly became the queen of our house. She's athletic, playful, smart and wonderfully affectionate. She's a little mischievous, too--here's an example. She's allowed to go most places in the house, but one of the exceptions are the kitchen countertops. One day, we ordered take-out Chinese food. As usual, we left the bag on the counter as we ate in the next room. When it came time for us to read the fortune cookies, I checked the bag in the kitchen. There was only one in there, even though I thought I'd seen two of them earlier. I looked down suspiciously at Touhy, but she just gave me a "Who, me?" look. A day or two later, when Barb was retrieving one of the little balls Touhy loves to chase from inside the bedroom closet, she found the missing fortune cookie, still in the wrapper. (Touhy had no interest in it as food--she loves carrying any kind of plastic wrapper--granola bar wrappers are her favorite--in her mouth, like some kind of prey.) We had a big laugh over that one.

Izzy is doing great (Carly when she was at PAWS).  She had grown to be about 75 LBS., although she thinks she is a 12 lbs. lap dog :). She is very sweet and is very friendly and loves to have friends over and go to the park. She also loves her day care or "camp" as we call it, otherwise she has way too much energy and drives us nuts!  Here is a recent picture of her showing off her shaking skills. Thanks again for helping us find her, we don't know what we would do without her now!!

-Jennie and Russell

Cassidy (PAWS name Danielle) has easily adapted to our family, and we've quickly bonded with her.  She is enjoying life here in Edison Park. She loves her "sister" dog, Sundance (PAWS name Gigi) , that we got from PAWS a year before her. The actually look like sisters! Housetraining was a little bit of a challenge, but not too bad, and we've got it down now. She's a great dog-very loving, active, and fun.
The kids are happy to have our two dogs and so are we. Thank you for enabling us to expand our family again!

-Jen & Greg

Hi this is a short note to give you an update about Comic. After we adopted him, we change his name to Tito (which derives from the Spanish word for little cat “gatito”) without realizing that he is hilarious indeed.  We currently have 2 other cats, Button and Peachy a male and female and both relatively young, under 3 years old. Tito is extremely playful with both of them. We can see why he was named Comic.  After an introduction phase, Tito became a good playmate for Peachy and Button. Never a dull moment.

-Peter & Mayi

Groucho (I kept his name) has made himself at home! Although he's been washed, de-matted, and brushed (often!) He still maintains his Groucho charm. His favorite thing to do is play with his balls or roll around in the laundry hamper. He often has trouble keeping his balance on the wood floors and hits walls, slips, and slams into doors all too frequently. When he's not doing that, he's laying on his cat tower
watching the cars and people outside. He's a really smart boy and has already learned several "tricks." Thanks PAWS!

-Alexandra

We adopted Reina, a 1year old boxer. Her new name is Gia.  She is so loving. We all ready have a 9 year old boxer Mojo, and they get along great! We got her in the beginning of January, it's been less than 3 months, and she is totally part of the family.  This one of them sleeping together is especially cute to us because it was
taken the day after we adopted her.  We are very happy!

-Korrie and Eddie

Roscoe (who I've now named Loomis) is doing
great. He is completely housebroken, which was a really nice surprise!  He's very sweet.

-Nick

Things have been wonderful with our new puppy. Once adopted, we changed her name from Meaghan to Molly. She has been visiting the vet regularly, is in great health and is growing so fast! She is a a beautiful pup with a great personality, and has been easy to train. We are so happy that we made her a part of our family.

-Diana

Annabel and I are doing fine. When I took her home I changed her name to Munch. Her favorite place to sleep (other than on my legs when I'm trying to sleep) is my bathroom sink. I absolutely love having a cat to
come home to every day. She is the cutest thing in the world. And I love seeing her reactions to new toys, and new things in my apartment.  I also wanted to say thank you to everyone who helped me out with all of my questions. Munch is my first cat and, before I took her home, I was worried at how I would do with her. But I couldn't be happier. You answered all of my question, even the dumb ones. So thank you all so much!

-Alexandra

This is Darla (PAWS name Sally). We adopted her at the end of January. We absolutely adore her and feel so lucky. She is the BEST puppy either of us has owned. She has a great temperament, is loving, and so easily trained. We are in our 4th week of puppy training class - she's a little above of the curve.  We are so glad we went to paws the day we did. We couldn't imagine our life without her.

- Annie and Aaron

Things have been great around here. I changed Timmy's name to Travis and he's been loving life around here. He's enrolled in puppy class at right now. He had a bit of trouble eating when he first arrived home but he's over it and now just concentrates on getting as many treats as he possibly can.

-Jon

Scooter and I are doing great! I haven't changed his name, it suits him well. He has many dog friends in the neighborhood and goes to obedience class once a week. I love him to pieces and am so lucky to have found such a wonderful dog!

-Dona

Kedzie (PAWS name Skittles) is doing wonderfully. The first few weeks or so were pretty rough, as she was ultra
timid. She wouldn't even want to go for walks and she piddled when she was scared or excited. But thankfully, baby step by baby step, she has done a total 180 and is a very happy dog! She has completed basic obedience
class, LOVES going for walks and romping around with her boyfriend Ham (my best friend's dog, also from PAWS). She has a ton of energy, but is also very content just snuggling on the couch or lounging around. In a matter of only a couple months Kedzie has truly become a part my family!
She has the greatest deposition and charms everyone she meets. Attached is a picture of Kedzie and Ham by Lake Michigan.

-Sarah

My boyfriend and I are loving our cats. They are about 4 and half months old now. We did change their names from Tamari (now Nora) and Ivy (now Lana). They are so playful when they are awake, and they love sleeping with us at night! We could not be happier with them! Thanks!!

-Molly and Jake

We think we've finally decided on a new name for Holly. She is now Beru, after a character in Star Wars, or Rulie for short. She's doing great. She's gained a pound already, and has a good start on housetraining and most of her manners. She comes to work with me at the animal hospital, and is better behaved and quieter in her kennel than 99% of the adult dogs that come there! She is silly, sweet, soft, snuggly, smart, and everything else a puppy should be. She is very curious, confident, outgoing, and practically unflappable, which makes her a breeze to socialize.  In
other words, as you can clearly see, I ADORE her. Thank you all for taking good care of her until she got to me.

-Chris

We adopted Fortinbras on Jan 10th this year and he is doing great! We didn't change his name because it's quite unique and he was already adjusted to it. He has gained at least 3 lbs since we brought him home and he has been a joy to have around. He's sweet and affectionate, very intelligent, and full of personality.  We enjoy spoiling him and I'm sure he loves it as well.  Thank you for finding him! I can't imagine being without my little love muffin!

-Katrina & Chad

Well I am adjusting nicely to Molly (PAWS name Ms. Harding), she almost has me trained to her liking!  In all seriousness, I am so happy to have adopted her, she is very behaved, no spraying, always uses the litter box, loves to play and sleep next to me at night!

-Peter

We adopted Joe (PAWS name Chester) in early January of this year, and he is doing great! We love him very much as he is the sweetest little cuddler and he has brought great energy to our home.

-Sheila

Aspen's new name is Oscar and he is doing very good. He is getting quite big and getting along fine with my other 1 year old cat Zoe. There have been no health problems and everything is fine. We thank Paws again for giving us Oscar

-Ergi

Thank you for checking in...we have renamed Sidney. His new name is Buddy due to his friendly personality:) Attached is a photo of him grooming a (fake) miniature kitten. Too cute!

-Jessi & Kris

Things are going great with George the cat, so glad I got him. He is a terrific companion!

-Steve

The kitten's doing fine! I changed his name from Baron to Levon.  He's growing a mile a minute.

-Jessica

I adopted Betty from PAWS Chicago in January 2009.  We have renamed her to Nala.  She is doing very well, she loves to play all of the time still.

-Victoria

I am most happy to inform you that Gypsy (PAWS name Pixie) and I are getting along quite splendidly, I love it! Everyday I know its going to be fun because of this amazing animal companion. If life could get any better, I wouldn't know it. She is just a hoot and too cute to boot.  She enjoys the same activities as I do! Like dancing, running 'n playing, long walks, exploring the outdoors, goofing off, swimming, etc. Also, she has this fascination with rocks, haha! It is most comforting to have a dog who is always there to chill and cuddle with as much as to pal around with. Oh, and she still chases her tail, especially when we listen to music.  She gets along purr-fectly with my adopted cat Anastasia and my mom's mini poodle Noelle.

-Georgia & Gypsy
We renamed Nelly, Sandi Awgo and she has been a great addition to the family.  She took a few days to get adjusted but she is a really great dog. She has already learned how to sit, lay down, fetch and roll over. We have her picking up Frisbee but it is taking a little longer for her to get her mouth-Frisbee coordination down.  She gets plenty of exercise thanks to my jog-a-holic wife and otherwise does a great job of eating as many things as possible and attempting to communicate with us.  Sandi has also recently figured out how to sneak into our bed at night. Thank you and PAWS so much for connecting us with Sandy!

-Killian

Krystal's new name is Athena. Athena is doing very well. She is a sweet girl and absolutely LOVES to play fetch at the dog park. My girlfriend recently adopted a rottweiler puppy and he and Athena get along great. Her maternal instincts are definitely intact. She displays classic German Shepherd tolerance with the pup and plays at his level. We love her very much and feel that she was a wonderful addition to our pack.

-Alex

I have changed Laddy's name to Beaumont (Beau). He is a really sweet boy and has adapted extraordinarily well to his new home.  He is a very healthly boy with a lot of energy who loves to run around and play with all of his toys. He has developed such a good temperament, it is amazing Beaumont's favorite thing to do is cuddle, especially with his new best friend Buster. They spend every second together and are so adorable. Beau looks up to Buster and mimics everything he does; it is a good thing Buster is such a good boy because he has passed along some very good behaviors to Beau. I am eternally grateful to have Beaumont in my life. Thank you!!

-Christine

Everything is great with the kitty we've adopted from
you. His name was Gravity but we've renamed him as Bruce, with sometimes calling him Brucie.  He is doing very great and has definitely came out of his shell from the first day we met him. We did not realize that he would be so vocal, he meows at just about anything and for anything. Meows for food, meows to be held, meows for me to pull open my blanket covers so that he can snuggle with me (no objections there) and meows when he's playing. We also have a dog and at first Bruce was very cautious, with keeping his distance but now
they're great together. They've totally teamed up to become trouble makers. lol.... We love having him in our lives and have no regrets.  Thank you very much!

-Diana & Jeff

My adopted dog (PAWS name Romeo) is doing just fine: picture attached.  He's gained a few pounds, and have been continuing to work with a dog trainer friend of mine.  He's very good with other dogs and people, really a sweet disposition and always entertaining to have around. His name is Faolan (Irish word meaning "small wolf", which is what he looks like when his ears go up).

-Keith

Winnie (PAWS name Goddess of Rock) is doing GREAT and is so so so cute and intelligent. She knows
all her commands - sit, stay, paw, down, gentle (when getting treats) - and is so so very smart!!  I have a dog
walker/babysitter that comes during the week M-F and my roommate takes care of her on Monday since she is home. We've been gaining a LOT of doggie friends in my Old Town area when we go on our walks.

-Leah

Sassafras (we liked the name and kept it -- it really suits her) is doing very well! She was pretty shy
at first but quickly warmed up. She's a sweet, snuggly, affectionate kitty we love very much.

-Ryan

We adopted Saltine who is now called Kit Kat.  When we got her she was a little underweight for her age (3 years). We took her to the vet and they gave me advice about her eating. She has gained weight sufficiently and is eating like a champ now!  She settled in SO well. We took her home the first day and she spent the time sniffing around everything. The first night I think she was a little bit unsettled as she kept coming into our bedroom, climbing onto the bed, meowing and waking us up by checking we were still there for her!. By the second or third night she seemed more relaxed and found lots of places to sleep - namely our bed, in my daughters bed and various spots around the house that are now 'hers'!

We all love Kit Kat to bits, she is a lovely cat, SO well natured. She lets my daughter carry her around, she spends her evenings curled up asleep on my lap and she greets us at the door when we have been out of the house running errands. She is well and truly a part of our family!

-Sonia, Erez, Scarlett and Kit Kat

Hi Friends at Paws, I am writing you to let you know how my little one is doing. I adopted Betty from PAWS in January. She's been with me for about a month and half and is doing great! I have renamed her Libby and am enjoying every minute with her. She loves just hanging out and relaxing with me. We are also learning to socialize with other dogs in the building and neighborhood.  She does have a little separation anxiety but we are working through it each day, one day at a time. I love her so much!

-Julie and Libby

It's been five years since we've moved from Chicago, but I still love to visit the PAWS Chicago web site regularly and see all the wonderful adoptables and alumni. Dante', my foster dog that I adopted six years ago, is 15 years old! He never ceases to amaze - there are times when he stays in bed nearly all day and then days when he frolics like a puppy! He constantly makes us laugh, with his underbite and remaining six teeth. I'll never forget the day, at the Angels with Tails on Michigan Avenue event, that I decided this old man needed to go home with me forever.

-Delia and Dante'

My kitten is doing great! Her name is Tori  (PAWS name Muneca) and she is very well adjusted to everything in her new home. She's extremely active and social now and loves
to play and eat. She's very healthy and up-to-date on everything according to the vet.  I really appreciate all the
support and care that PAWS provides.

-Gina and Tori

My husband and I wanted to update you on Sydney (Paws name Dora). She is doing amazing and we are fortunate to have her. She is extremely energetic (although, the pictures I’m sending don’t exactly indicate that). She loves long walks with me and runs with my husband. When adopted she was labeled with separation anxiety and for the most part that’s a thing of the past. She truly understands that this is her home and there will always be a place for her. Paws is an extraordinary organization and thank you for letting us adopt Sydney.

-Jen and Scott

My adopted puppy (Matthew, a chow/shepherd mix) is doing wonderful!! I have changed his name to Dutch, and he is responding really well to the little bit of training I have done with him. He has been such a great addition to my life. He has even made several trips back to Michigan with me to play with family and other dogs there. Everyone who meets him loves him, and he just loves attention from anyone. He is such an easy-going dog with a loving and affectionate personality. The walks in -15 degree weather were a little rough, but he is such a good dog it is definitely worth it.

-Anne

Things are going very well with Samson (formerly known as Moose). He's growing and thriving. He's the cuddliest little boy and loves nothing more than curling up in a lap. Of course he has all the normal kitten tendencies
of playing with everything not glued down and wrestling with his big sister.

We are very happy with him. Thank you for everything.

-Sara and Rob

Our kitty, Bella (Paws name was Lief), is a wonderful addition to our family. We really love her. It took her a couple of weeks to get really settled in, but now she has a lot of fun playing with straws and bottle caps on the floor. She and our dog, Buddy, get a long really well. They play together and chase each other around the house. Bella hides and jumps on Buddy when he walks by. Buddy takes it all in stride and if he's bored he'll nuzzle Bella to get her to play with him.

Bella's very affectionate and playful. We really enjoy having her as a part of the family.

-Tammi, Markus and Mars

We just wanted to let you know our cat is doing great. Her name is Keelyn (PAWS name Shprintze) and she loves to play with her scratching post and lay around in drawers and cabinets. She loves to cuddle and she's been a great addition to the family.

-Andrew

Our pet is doing great. Her new name is Nina (PAWS name Lorna Doone). She's a very fast learner and she is the rave of our neighborhood.

-Jean

We did change our puppy's name from Riggins to
Riley. He is doing great! He's growing more and more and getting into more and more trouble each day (as puppies do). He LOVES going on long walks.  He really liked bounding through the snow, and now that its been warm the past few days, he seems to want to be outside all day.

-Jennifer and Jon

Champ (PAWS name Benny) has brought more joy to my life than I could describe in words. I believe he is incredibly happy and I can tell his love for me is strong. I love him dearly.  He is warm, playful, gentle...and about 100 other adjectives!

-Jackson

Things are going well. Buddy (a.k.a. Bubba) is incredible with kids and people. The 3 of us are in training learning how to walk in the neighborhood with the other dogs!
He was shaved/bald when we adopted him so we had no idea he would become such a beauty.

-Carol and Bruce

The puppies are doing great. They are growing big and becoming adolescents--very independent! We are starting puppy obedience school soon.  Braxton has become Louie (after Louie Aparicio, White Sox legend) and Muffy has become Nellie (after Nellie Fox, another White Sox
legend).

-Leslie

Nellie on left and Louie on right. They are getting big!

I love this dog! She is the best dog I couldve gotten, already well trained and very very loveable. I changed her name to Juno (PAWS name Gypsy) and am so grateful for your agency's dedicated work.

-Johnny

All is well with our puppy! We renamed her Zoe (PAWS name Buttercup) and she has fitted herself into our family just beautifully. She is getting so big-already weighing in at 50 lbs. She is extremely smart too-she already knows all of her basic commands and to let us know she needs to go out, she "rings" our doorstop on the bottom of our front door. We are very pleased with our newest addition to the family.

-Rebecca

I adopted Harold. He's doing okay.  I think he's okay here, he is extremely vocal and we're trying to train him to tone it down. I think I sent a picture already but here's another one, he's pretty photogenic.

-Amanda

Things are great.  Prior to adoption, my Chihuahua's PAWS name was Coconut.  I have since renamed him Papi.  I absolutely love him!  From the pictures, you can tell he's pretty happy and settled in

-Bill

I adopted Archie (PAWS name Dr. Murray) on January 3rd.  He's a very loving dog and when he's not barking at the other dogs, he's his training school teacher's favorite in the class.  He's very smart and loves his new home. His favorite things are sleeping, running up and down the hallway and practicing tricks.

Thanks for bringing Archie into my life!

-Shannon

Maison (formerly Jayson) has adapted really well to our home. He loves it! He and Avery get along very well, too. If they're not snuggled together sleeping, then they're beating each other up. Typical kids!

-Kayleigh

Piper is doing great! She has settled in and is a loving member of our family! We could not be happier. There was a period of adjustment but now she is right at home! She is adorable and her personality fits right in at our house. She has been great with kids and is doing much better with strangers. We have traveled with her to Montreal and are now in Florida with her! She loves the sun! She has been traveling with us on the plane and loves being with us!   Thanks so much for everything and thanks for checking in.

-Stephanie & Brian

Fizzy is doing great!  She is such a sweet, adorable and well behaved dog. She's spoiled rotten but wouldn't have it any other way.  Fizzy is truly blessed to have found PAWS as well because you all took such good care of her during her short stay with you all. Thanks for her.

-Terri

O'malley (PAWS name Mufasa) has been doing great these past couple of months! He took a trip home with me for Christmas and enjoyed playing with my parents cats, and even the dog! He's currently curled up by my window enjoying the sun today.  He loves sleeping in my sink, if you couldn't tell from the picture!

-Alix
HI PAWS! It has been nearly six months since I adopted Chloe and she is the BEST. She took to me almost right away and I am so happy to have her. She's a real love bug and gets along with everyone really well. As you can see from the attached photo, she's a very hard worker!

-Susan

Judy is doing wonderful! We have named her Weena, after a character in H.G. Wells' "The Time Machine." We also call her Killer because she is quite feisty.

-Jacqueline
Everything is going great! Sweat Pea (PAWS name Parker) adjusted with no problem. Gus, (our older PAWS adoption 10 year Old Maine Coon Coonie) is a bit jealous but I think things will be ok in a few days. He hisses at her but that's about it.

-Amy

What can I say.  Maxwell is awesome, loving and has more friends than I do!! He just finished his doggy training, where he was the star attraction!! Two other attendees spent more time with Maxwell than their own pets!!!

We love him very much, he's adjusted well and seems very happy to be here. I cannot thank you enough for the opportunity to love Maxwell and take care of him. He was one of your hurricane dogs and was quite timid and quite shaky when I got him. Boy have things changed since September!! Thanks again... from me and Max!!

-Lenny
We adopted Cooper & Rodney at the adopt-a-thon.  Here they are bonding with our cat Josie who is now like their Mom.

-Susan

We adopted Barclay on 9/27/08. He is a WONDERFUL dog - I cannot say enough about his sweet nature and how affectionate he is. We recently started taking him to day care 1 day a week so that he can play with other dogs and it has done amazing things for him.

We truly love him and cannot imagine our family without him.

-Marci
I just wanted to write to let you know that Little Princess and Bedelia, now known as Lali and Charo, are doing quite well in their new home. As a quick reminder, we adopted them at the end of last year as 10 and 12 week olds, and they're growing quickly and bigger than we thought possible when we brought them home as tiny kittens. They became fast friends, and now meow loudly if they can't find each other. I would like to thank you for introducing them into our lives. They've brought us a great amount of joy and laughter.

-Mike

Snow did have her named changed to Molly.  She and I are now a family and I love her more than I ever thought possibly. We are very happy and I don't know what I would do without her. Still being a puppy, she does have a lot of desire to play and I try to give her frequent walks to use up some energy. We both can't wait until summertime to be able to be outside more often although she does love the snow and has no qualms about lying in the snow in freezing weather as if she were on a rug in a warm family room. She is loved by all she meets and I am constantly being told how beautiful she is and, more importantly, what a sweet girl. She loves all people (and needs to hug and kiss them) and even all dogs (she lies down on walks to wait to say hi to any passing pup so that we can't walk a different direction until she has done so)!

-Jennifer and Molly
We adopted Midnight and Coco In December, shortly before Christmas. Things are going pretty well. As you recall, Midnight suffered a lot of hair loss due to allergies and a thyroid condition. We are happy to report that there are no more bare spots on his skin. We think they enjoy living with us! Coco loves the white ball you sent home with us. He chases it and can keep himself occupied for quite a long time. He likes to bring it up onto a chair, put it between his two front paws, wait just a little while, knock it off, jump down to go get it, and then start the whole process over again. Midnight is the far more vocal of the two. He would polish off Coco's dinner, if we let him at it. Midnight also loves to raid the garbage, and is especially fond of Kleenex and toilet paper. But the two are pretty inseparable and nap together on their favorite chair.

-Daniel

Carlo (PAWS name Manelli) is great we all love him. We all say he won the lottery! He is treated like a king. His social skills are improving.  He goes for a walk 3-4 times a day and has a big yard to play in. He loves his yard, even with all the snow! He rolls in the snow and eats it. We just love him!

-Rosann
Louie (PAWS name Big Louie) has settled into his new home happily and comfortably. He always wants to be where the action is, and he takes to friends and family right away. We love and adore him and thank Paws for bringing him into our family.

-Todd and Kirsten

I adopted Pywacket and Baby Boy on Nov 15. Pie is now named Big Man as he is 17 pounds and the Vets say 10 years old.  He sleeps on my bed and is a love muffin. He doesn't meow, he squawks.  Baby Boy, while named appropriately, is now Lil Man.  Lil Man greets me tentatively at the door when I come home from work. He follows me around like a 2 year old child in the mornings and when I am home. He has to be touching me when he sleeps at night. He isn't a big fan of being picked up but loves to snuggle.  I am aware everyday that these 2 have been a blessing in my life.  Big Man is the quiet love muffin and Lil Man is the needy, meowing, always getting into something boy.

-Patrice
Its hard to believe its almost been a year since we've adopted Sonny (PAWS name Wrigley). He's been a great addition to our home, full of spunk and attitude! People can't help but smile and laugh when they see him walking down the street - such a goofball. He is almost too smart for us -
and knows his obedience commands. We're working on crate training and he's doing really well with it. You can teach and older dog new tricks, although Sonny is still full of puppy personality! He's a great little dog and we love him so much. Thanks PAWS!

-Alison and Juan.

I have attached a picture above of the kitten I adopted from PAWS in December. Her name was originally Tanya but I changed her name to Callie.  She is very sweet and social and into EVERYTHING. Her favorite things to do are to play fetch in the hallway and to be lavished with attention. She follows me wherever I go and despite her sometimes destructive curiosity she has proven to be a great companion. I am very glad I adopted her and know as long as I own her there will never be a dull moment.

-Lisa
We just wanted to give everyone there an update on our new family member. Dooley, which we have named Max is doing great! We couldn't ask for a better dog. He's going on 5 months now and is just about ready to get his last distemper and rabies shots. Just in time for spring and dog parks. He is very energetic and overly excited. I'm proud to say that he has already learned to sit, stay and lay down.

Thank you all for your warm hearts and love for animals!

-Illiam

We are proud to report that our new baby girl has adjusted very well  to her new life, taking her rightful place on the couch! She's had no issues with our older kitty (Pharaoh), and although he wasn't initially that into her, he's handled it like a champ and returned to his loving self. They're pallies now and play all the time
(especially around 9:00 at night). I've attached a couple of photos - she has gotten very big!  Her new name is Cleopatra (PAWS name Semonlina).

-Cameo
Thanks for this. Our adopted pet is doing well. We rechristened him Freddie (PAWS name Wiggum) and I attach a photo of him with our six year old daughter Alice who loves him! He is enrolled at the puppy training classes.

-Sarah

We are just loving our new addition. Marley (PAWS name Snuggles) is doing well.  She is totally a lap dog and loves to be by my side at all times. Marley and the kids just adore one another, and our other dog has finally adjusted to the new member. Marley and Brandy love to snuggle with one another at night and they are always playing together. Thanks for our wonderful family
member.

-The Berdinski-Marshall Family

Pico, (PAWS name Roo) is doing well in her new home.
Her life pretty much consists of getting petted, walked, and cuddled! That seems to be our gal.  Pico is an absolute love with all dogs and people!  Everyone we meet remarks on just how friendly and sweet she is, and her normal routine is to
approach any person/dog and sit right down to receive a good pet/sniff, etc. She is very curious about our cats, and they are very slowly warming up to her. Mostly, the animals are curious about each other, and it seems like given plenty of time, they will be comfortable couch-mates one day.

-Em

Malcolm seems happy now that he has direction in our home.  He went to a weeks worth of full training around the clock with our trainer.  We continue to work on these commands and training with him at home.  Our 12 year old daughter works with him also and he now respects her as alpha.  He loves our dog Elvis (6yrs old).  The two are inseparable.  He loves to run in our backyard and play fetch (his favorite) and chase squirrels.  He always wants to play in the house bringing us his toys for us to play fetch.  He seems like he is now settled in.

Thank you all for taking care of these pets for the families to come!!!

-The Hanlon Family

To my Friends at PAWS,

I am doing great and have a wonderful life.  My new name is Liam (PAWS name Paxton) and I live in Naperville.  I have a new kitty brother named Monty.  He hated me for about 3 weeks, but now he’s my best friend.  We spend hours playing chase & grooming each other.  He shares his cat bed that is in the window were we spend hours watching birds and squirrels.  My family is wonderful; I get canned plus crunchy food and have filled out a little.  I sleep with Mom on her pillow every night, she claims I snore.  I don’t believe her.  I love it when Ilee gets home from school.  I sit and watch her do her homework or art projects.  Sometimes she has treats.  I am learning a lot.  Mom thinks I need a little work on my manors.  I just don’t understand why she doesn’t set a place for me on the table at dinner.  She also keeps telling me that I should not drink from the toilet and I should try to avoid the urge to bury my food.  My family plays with me everyday I love redbug (laser pointer) and my snake.  I carry snake around and sleep with him.  Yesterday Ilee tied a string to a helium balloon and I had fun chasing it around the house.  I love my family and they love me.  Thank you for all the love and caring at PAWS.  I will never forget all my friends at PAWS.  You changed the life of a little stray, I can’t imagine my life without PAWS.

-Paxton

We have named our beagle Lucy (PAWS name Jessie). She is getting along very well, and we are enjoying her.
She is a handful.  Like all young dogs she is still chewing some things but we are working on that. She enjoys walks around our neighborhood and seeing other dogs. Lucy goes to daycare one day a week so she can see and play with other dogs.

-Anita and Bruce
Jules is very happy and we're very happy to have her. She's a very loving cat and receives equal amounts of love in return.  We have changed the spelling of her name from "Jules" to "Jewels"

-Brian Callahan.

Just a note to let you know how Banana is doing.  Her name is Annie now but she responds mainly to kitty b/c we call her that a lot too. She's great, we love her a lot. She's a lot of fun. She sleeps with us at night. She's gotten a little bigger as you'll see in the pictures.

-Cathy and Dan
Our puppy (PAWS name Bagel) we adopted back at the end of December is now doing great! We changed her name to Josie a day or two afterwards.  She's doing very well, and getting lots of love and training.   Josie is very happy and so are we!

-Josh and Lindsay

Pulusa has adjusted well to our house. She enjoys being a lap dog and sneaking into the bed while we are asleep. She loves to play in the snow too.

-Barb
I adopted Lucy (PAWS name Pria) after a failed
attempt at fostering her. After just a couple days, I knew I couldn't give her back. She is doing wonderfully. Her favorite thing to do is sit in front of the window and watch all the passersby. As you can see, she also loves car rides, especially when we're heading to the dog park! Thank you for
finding me this dream of a dog, and for saving so many precious lives.

-Anna

We adopted Eleanor (PAWS name Cilantro) back in January. She is pretty well adjusted to our home, well she pretty much runs it! She is very playful, watches TV and loves carrots. Eleanor is growing so fast! We love her very, very much. The only thing we need to work on is getting her to stop slapping us in the head when we are lying on the couch. Its funny for now but I really hope she grows out of it! I tell everyone I know about PAWS, the staff was amazing. It was such a good experience adopting Eleanor, I was truly blown away by the whole set up and purpose of PAWS. You guys are AMAZING!!! Thank you so much for everything.

-Sarah
We are doing just great! Adeola is growing like a weed, even though we keep telling her to "stay small"! She is working hard to bring our older cats Fred and Barney around to her way of thinking (the kitty way :) and though they are somewhat resistant, Barney at least has decided to take "nap" time with the new baby (see enclosed photo). I have no doubt she will eventually bring them 'round- I mean who could really resist those big blue eyes!!

-Jude

Donna (we renamed her Merry since we met her the day after Christmas!) is doing wonderfully and she's a
perfect addition to our family! Her favorite spot is on my husband Damon's lap, which is where she bounds the minute he sits in his (and her!) favorite chair.  She's a happy little dog, her brother Trevor (Wirehaired Pointing
Griffon) dotes on her too and watches over her, she got housetrained in just a couple of weeks, she greets and loves everyone she meets, and we even had a party for about 20 friends last weekend to Meet Merry!  She's active, loves walks and car rides.  She bounds around the house playing with her toys and stealing socks from closets. She also loves her big brother Trevor -- they touch noses and wag first thing in the morning, when they finish eating, and before they jump out through the doggy door together to go play!

Thanks again, PAWS is the best and we're so happy we found Merry and she found us!

- Cynthia, Damon, Trevor, and Merry
Muriel now named is Lulu, and she is doing very well.  Here is a pic of her and the kids, she is now a very active, 35 lb, 4 month old dog. Our friends went to Paws a month after us and also adopted a new puppy, so they hang out on play dates!

-Megan

We adopted a ~4 year-old Beagle named Banjo and have affectionately, and humorously, renamed him Linden Banjo Jensen. (LBJ of course had Beagles named 'Him' and 'Her').  Linden has adapted extremely well to life with our family. We suspect he must have been with another family before coming home with us. He extremely
patient and protective of our 3 year-old and was completely crate/house-trained as well. He is still very much a couch/lap dog, and sleeps quite a bit. He loves his long walks, and the many smells encountered
near the Chicago river. He's very affectionate and lovable and a great watch-dog, as well. (It breaks my heart to think of him wandering the streets in the cold before the City found him. Thank goodness PAWS rescued
our sweet guy!)

And thank you for helping us complete our family.

-Amanda
Our sweet, brave, handsome Tuckerbear (formerly known as Turkey) is doing great. We can't imagine life without him! Thank you Paws for all of the work you do.

-Austen

Montana is doing great! We have since re-named her Dottie.  We think she's pretty much the best dog in the world (we might be a little partial though).  It feels like she has been our dog for years and years. She trusts us
completely, obeys us and is always our constant companion. She follows us around the house and whines for us to pet her a lot.  If it's possible for the feeling of gratitude to permeate out of a dog, that is what we feel coming from Dottie. We absolutely adore her and can't wait for the summer time when we can play on the beach! She outruns all of the dogs at the park and is quite the expert frisbee, tennis ball and even FOOTBALL catcher!
Thanks for your help with everything. Adopting from PAWS was a wonderful experience and I'm so glad we didn't get a puppy!

-Laurie and Jon
I wanted to send an update on our kittens, originally Wilson and Soto. We renamed them Norman and Toonces. They are the cute polydactyls and they're giving home life eight thumbs up! They both adjusted very quickly and are always favorites at the Vet's office. We've never been around sweeter boys, in a crazy kitten way! They play all day long and love to wrestle with each other. Norman and Toonces love to eat and it's amazing how much they've grown since we got them. They love watching golf on TV and playing with the laser pointer. It's a game that never gets old. It's hard to imagine life without them. Thank you for everything. We recommend your adoption center often!

-Gerri & Kurt, Norman & Toonces (Meow Meow)

Hi there. I adopted Ben after our first weekend
was over, I gave him a new name: "Patch OBama Heebink, Pirate Kitty from the South Side". He was a stray picked up in the Kenwood neighborhood, hence the
nod to our new president.  Patch and I are getting along great. He is very, very friendly and playful.  Very good with visitors, including other cats.  He loves to play Shoelace, and enjoys those little mice with the catnip inside.  He's definitely a morning cat, and likes to hang out with me in the bathroom when I'm getting ready for work.

Thank you, PAWS!

-Nina

We love our cats! Asha and Loki (PAWS name Slinky) are doing great and have made themselves right at home. They are always amusing us with their cute antics from drinking water straight from the faucet to chasing their own tails. Asha is quite the lap kitty and will sit on our laps for hours at a time. Loki passionately loves being brushed and napping in sunny windows.  The four of us are a happy little family, and we are grateful to the PAWS staff for the smooth adoption and follow up process.

-Leah and Cam

Desmond (PAWS name Linus) is doing very well.  He was one of the dogs that came from the pet food testing
facility in December. When I took him home (on New Year's Eve) he didn't know how to go up or down stairs, was not house-broken, did not know what play is, did not know what treats were, and was just generally afraid of all things. I called him my 7-year old newborn. He wasn't
however, afraid of my cats. And because he is such a docile and sweet dog, after a couple of days they accepted him in the household. One of the cats even naps with him now.  I've had him at a training facility the day for the last five weeks for rehab and training. They have done wonders for his self-esteem and confidence. And he's now housebroken, can run up and down stairs, and has lost that worried look that was on his face all the
time. His ears are even beginning to come up. He's also losing, bit by bit, his fear of people (especially men), and is now well-socialized to other dogs. In addition to the formal training the facility have him grouped in a pack of puppies of various ages for an hour or so every day and the puppies are teaching him all about play. He's loosened up so much that when I take him for walks
every day he now wants to run.  All in all, it has been a good match for the both of us.

-Pat
Everything is going great with Ham. I decided to keep his Paws name because it just fit him so well. He's such a good dog, loves to play and sleep and actually sleeps in his toy bin...He is an amazing jumper and has cleared every single baby gate we set up, so it's been quite interesting. He is best friends with Kedzie (formerly Skittles at Paws) and despite their size difference they love to play together. Thanks for everything.

-Lauren and Ham

Thank you so much PAWS! We love the new member of our family! Aster is absolutely wonderful. We love her dearly.  Aster has thoroughly enjoyed the snow and the dog beach. Chicago is a great city to have a puppy! She still loves people and is getting used to other dogs. A little scared by the big guys, but happy to be out playing none the less.  Thanks for helping us adopt such an adorable puppy!

-Kristin, Chris and Aster
We adopted Fabio and instantly fell in love. His name is Fletcher now and it fits him perfectly!! He's such a happy and goofy boy, it makes our day to come home to him. He loves to be outside, so he gets lots and lots of walks and loves his neighborhood buddies! He's SO good with other dogs and even better with people. He loves to give kisses and show off. He had a blast in the snow but hated the coat we made him wear! He was pretty much house trained when he came home and does so well with going outside and letting us know when to go out. He also plays fetch like a pro and we can't wait to get him to the beach and try out the frisbee! When he's been to the vet he makes everyone laugh and he loves seeing his doctor!  He makes us so happy and laugh so hard and I know he was supposed to end up with us. I tell everyone that it was fate because we would have never found him if we wouldn't have gotten off on the wrong bus stop!  Thank you guys so much for letting us adopt him and bringing us so much happiness!

-Jenn & Drew

We're the new owners of Richie, now known as Milo. Milo has been with us for two months and he is doing extremely well. He is a very energetic, happy, eager to please comedian. He makes us laugh every day.  It's taken a bit of time for Milo to adjust to our family, but every day he learns more and more and we're extremely happy with his progress. He now walks without pulling his leash, he goes for runs like an expert, he can sit and stay, he waits politely for his dinner, and he comes when called. We're still working on riding in the car and getting out the door without bouncing off the walls first. If ever a dog was made for the circus, it would be Milo!  We are so glad that Milo has become part of our family.

-Kari and Rob
Just to let you know that Jimmy is doing just great.
He now listens to his new name Markus. We are both
training each other rather nicely. And I've gotten a very
wonderful animal from you folks at PAWS. Thanks!

-Berndt

Bosely is doing well and is slowly on his way to becoming better behaved and well-mannered around large groups of people.  He has c now listens and
obeys many different commands.  When I first got him, he was a maniac around food and would bark and relentlessly beg for scraps. Now, he focuses that energy
on listening to instructions for food and treats. He gets along well with other dogs and has made some friends, but he is pretty shy and would rather hang out with the humans than play with the dogs in the park. I found that
exercise has had the most profound impact on his behavior. After going on longer runs, he will be more compliant and refrain from barking at people and noises coming from outside. He has developed an unyielding fascination with my pet turtle once he realized that is was in fact an living creature.  Bosley has also helped my family's dog which lives at my parents house.  Bailey, a 15 year old beagle mix that had become antisocial towards other dogs since she has been the queen of the house for the last 7 years. Bailey would act very territorial and protective of my family towards other dogs, but has
slowly learned the socially acceptable ways to behave. Her and Bosely are now great friends and enjoy each others company when we go home to visit on the weekends.

-Brandon
We adopted King back in December and things have been going well. We decided to rename King to Clark, after my favorite super hero Clark Kent (superman). He was a bit scared coming to our home, and having a new "brother", our 2 year old black lab, Jackson. Clark didn't really leave his kennel for the first week or so, except for walks.  He has displayed some interesting behavior, like stealing slippers and books and purses and takes them back to his kennel. We love his quite nature and are looking forward to many wonderful years together. thanks for everything.

-Jose and Ef

We are ABSOLUTELY in love with our boy! He is totally spoiled rotten...he should be because he is such a good boy!! Potty trained in 4 weeks...he is 8 months old now and he sits, stays, shakes, gives high fives and lays down upon command! He plays with other dogs several times a week and loves it! He loves everyone he comes in contact with! He has brought us so much joy I can hardly believe it!!!!!!

Yep...we changed his name to Buddy "the mouth" Macchiato (PAWS name Jonah) because he wants to be friends with everyone and his mouth is always open licking and he is the color of a caramel macchiato!!

-Christina
We adopted Winston on December 20th, and have since officially named him Milo. He is a very loving and playful kitten. He gets along great with our 5 year old kitty at home; they constantly chase each other around the apartment and they even give each other an occasional bath.  Milo "talks" a lot, is very social, and he loves to cuddle. He seems to be very comfortable in his new home. This has been a wonderful adoption experience so far. Thank you for the support and for everything that you do!

-Cara

Jack is doing well.  Its been great so far he's been awesome.

-Rick

We did not change her name it is still Hazel.  We have started to take her to training classes. We also have started taking her to Pooch park in Skokie.  She loves it and very social she gets along with all the dogs and the people too.
We love her, and she loves treats and cookies.

-Michelle Renee and Nick

The cat we adopted from you was named Bob at the shelter, and we renamed him "Nicky". We adopted him to be a playmate for another kitten, Newton an orange tabby we found as a stray in our neighborhood. Nicky, and his new best friend Newton, both play and sleep together and keep an eye on each other. For example, when Nicky couldn't find Newton one evening, he was meowing and letting us know that he couldn't find him. He stopped meowing when we found Newton, and he popped out of the desk drawer he was hiding in. Good thing we have Nicky to keep an eye on Newton.

Enclosed in the attachment is a picture of Nicky being his mischievous self.

-Paul
Kegogi (PAWS name Gino) is doing very well at his new house. He has been adjusting to his new home very well. He doesn't bark very much, hasn't had an accident and is very loving. He gets spoiled every day and is showered with love non-stop. Thank you guys very much.

-Tim

We adopted Euro, and have since named her Bailey. She is a wonderful dog and has adjusting really well to being in our home. We are currently in training and she should graduate in a couple of weeks.  I couldn't be more happy with Bailey. She brightens our day and keeps us laughing.

-Patty

Ozzy (PAWS name Colby) is doing great in his new home! He has wonderful house manners and has learned lots of new tricks and commands in the last two months with us. He's so eager to please, and will do anything for a treat! Ozzy loves to play fetch or tug, but he's also ready to cuddle up on the couch and watch a movie when it's time to relax. We are all completely in love with him. Thanks for bringing this guy into our family!

-Josh, Kari, Olivia, Dylan

Our two kitten, Charlie and Jarrett are fine. We changed their names to Fiona and Charlie. We enjoy having them and they are very affectionate.

-Farida

Having Emmett has been an adjustment but he has added so much to our life. We are at our second home in CA and here is a picture of him at an outdoor cafe. He has taught us to slow down and sniff the world. He is a stubborn boy and is learning to play with other dogs. He has also accepted our cat, Murray, but Murray is still not sure of this new "cat."

-Frances

ODE to OWEN
After losing our 15 year-old blind and deaf cocker spaniel Ralphie in August of 2008, I repeatedly told friends and family I would never ever get another dog as Ralphie was the greatest. He was my hero, my wayshower, and my
constant companion who taught me everything I know about hope, faith and unconditional love.

In November of 2008 while I was busy NOT looking for another dog, my Mom and I were out shopping in Lincoln Park and near PAWS on Clybourn. I had always
wanted to see the new facility and figured this was as good of time as any to stop in. After touring the lovely facility we ended up in the medical wing in the back and there he was. Owen! He had me at our first glance and
I was so overwhelming taken by him. He looked oh so proud and just sat at his window with his droopy eyes just staring at me.  After reading about Owen's unfortunate story and how sad he must have been after losing his Dad he really had me. I learned that had a somewhat serious medical condition called Addison's disease that made it difficult for his body to handle stress. I thought to myself that it might take some time for a senior dog in this condition to get adopted. I new that my husband and I would be traveling the next month and we would not be able to take Owen right then.  I had to say goodbye for now.

The next weekend just out of curiosity I stopped by PAWS. Owen was not there. I kept walking around the facility thinking that he would show up in another room. After a while I told myself that Owen must have been adopted and was so happy for him. It was bittersweet. While leaving PAWS I ran into the very nice volunteer who had helped us the weekend before and she informed me that Owen was in the hospital.  At this moment, I knew we had to help this dog. We had several conversations with Foster Coordinator who knew of our interest in Owen.

Owen finally came home with us on December 19th and has filled our hearts with immeasurable amounts of joy! He is such a character and has so much personality! My husband Tony says that his favorite part about Owen is how much he makes me laugh. We do our very best to spoil him rotten and I must say we are doing a pretty good job. We take Owen for 2-3 mile walks to the
lake several times per week which he seems to love. We work in a warehouse out on the southside and Owen gets to come to work with us during the week and enjoys running around. His medial condition has seemingly stabilized and he acts much younger than his 12 years. I wish I could give a big THANK YOU to his former owner and let him know how much we love Owen and are doing our very best for him.

I never thought that my heart would repair itself after losing Ralphie but my heart has actually come back stronger and expanded in many ways and I owe this life lesson all to Owen. We are so blessed and so grateful. Thank you PAWS and thank you Owen!

-Jennifer and Tony

Everything is going well with Mrs. Who.  She's adjusted to her new home, and is a normal almost 9 month old puppy. I've taken her to the pet store with me, and she has reacted well to both humans and animals there and on walks, and is learning new things every day. She cages well, and gets walked often.  Her new name is B.B., and it suits her very well.

-David

We adopted Cookie during the adopt-a-thon. Her name is now Susan and she is doing just fantastic. She's now 7 months old and has grown about a pound each week we've had her. We just completed obedience training and she did wonderfully well - she can sit, stay, down, leave-it, drop and rollover, and walks really well on the leash. She's an absolute delight and my daughter and I just loving her as part of our family.  We had a DNA breed test done and just found out that she is the unlikely combination of Great Dane, Airedale, Newfoundland and just a smidge of Boston Terrier. She looks a lot like a Portuguese Water dog, so that could be a combination of the terrier and Newfy. We have no idea of how she could be a combination of such large breeds and be a medium sized dog - she's just Susan and we love our mutt!

-Catherine

Rapunzel is doing very well.  She is  housebroken, knows the basics (sit, stay, "in the house", etc.), and is the "greeter" in the family.  She's very affectionate, is "talkative," and we have toys all over the house (hers and others'....LOL)I think she's very smart.  All in all, we're really enjoying her.

-Carol

As new pet parents, we are grateful to the friendly volunteers at PAWS who directed us to the Senior Cat Room where we met many colorful characters. After two visits, we crossed our fingers and hoped we’d make good roommates with our new friend. On Saturday, December 6, we adopted Emma (PAWS name Lovely), a beautiful calico. She is all we were hoping for and more. She can’t seem to get enough petting and brushing. She jumps into our laps when we sit at the computer. She flops on her side in front of us as if to say, “Play!” My children and I want you to know that she is doing well and we couldn’t be happier.

-Laurel

Just writing to give you an update on Pandora (PAWS name Sierra). The little half-tailed wonder is doing well, and it turns out that I named her quite appropriately: Pandora is a very naughty girl! Her favorite activities include walking across my laptop, pushing things off tables, and
laying on my face in the middle of the night. But her big brother Pierre (who does his best to keep her in line and well-groomed) and I adore her and couldn't imagine not having her around!

- Anna

Won Ton's name is officially Oliver Queen- "Ollie" for short.  Ollie is doing great. He got a cold when he first came home but after giving him the medicine from the vet he got better in a few weeks. Him and my other cat got along after about a week and now play together all the time. It's much more harmonious with two cats because they both occupy each other during the day.

-Kira

Life with Toby (PAWS name: Frosty) is wonderful.  His favorite hobbies include playing with squeaky toys, watching nature programs (no, seriously), looking at the geese and ducks on the Chicago River, and patrolling the building courtyard from the window for friends (Bill the Labrador next door) and foes (squirrels!). He loves every person he meets and is getting better about interacting with other dogs. We start obedience classes next week, and as he was already housetrained and has quickly learned "sit," "down," "shake," and "wait," I imagine that he'll be a great student. Thank you for introducing him to me! I can't imagine my life without him. I have attached a picture of him playing in the snow last month.

-Brinda

Bowie (formerly Roman) is doing great. He has such a funny personality and is as sweet as can be. Thank you - adopting through PAWS was a wonderful experience!

-Kelly

Rusty (the artist formerly known as Googie) has been a fantastic addition to our family! He is extremely affectionate and has done very well acclimating to home life. He was a star pupil in his obedience class ! Once again, we are so grateful to PAWS and the wonderful work that you do! This is our second adoption from PAWS and we could not be more pleased.

-- Don and Dave

Our beagle, the one that was named Smash when we adopted him, is now named Cooper Jude. We are doing wonderful! Although he still has the occasional accident, we pretty much are getting the hang of this potty training
business. We stopped by a couple of weeks ago, and he was remembered!

-Harold

Celie (PAWS name Gidget) is doing great. She loves spending time with her big brother Atticus (pictured right) and copying everything he does, including getting filthy in the water at the dog beach. Celie gets more and
more confident each day meeting new dogs and people, and she finally seems to realize that she is going to be a big dog! Whether she is cuddling us on the couch, wrestling with Atticus, tearing up a new toy on the living room
floor, or trying to herd the dogs at the beach, Celie puts smiles on our faces. Thank you so much for bringing the little angel into our lives -- we couldn't be happier!

-Shelby & Kyle

Thank you for following up and we have to say that we really love our new  family member. Felix (formerly Matthias) is doing super.  He got used to us and our home very fast and  he is definitely very close to our heart.

-Peter

We adopted Linney, full name: Linnell Tamarind Knisley-Horstman.  Her PAWS name was Tamarind from Paws on January 31st, and she's already made herself quite at home.
I'm a professional cartoonist, and she likes to sit on my desk and help me with my work by acting as a paperweight, life-model and pen-chewer.  She shows her gratitude for our diligent nursing by keeping our feet warm in bed, and keeping our chairs warm, whenever we leave our desks (even for a moment!). We're constantly being treated to new kitty fun, such as her uncanny ability to hunt our table napkins, or her penchant for, occasionally, singing to us.  Linney's really completed our home. We don't even remember what it was like before she allowed us to hang around with her.  Thanks to PAWS, and all it's great members, for helping us to connect!

-Lucy and John

This May will be one year since we fell in love with Lucy, formerly Charity. She was the perfect addition to our family. She has such an amazing personality and her confidence has improved greatly. Her favorite spot to run, play and lay is her Grandparent's home shown in the picture. We have never met a dog like her, she is truly special.

-James and Lisa

I just wanted to let you know that Colin and Hope are doing great! I have had them for 6 weeks.  Colin is more playful and affectionate than when I first adopted him. Hope is still shy and pretty scared of people, but she is slowly coming out of her shell and getting used to her new environment. Her favorite thing to do is play and cuddle with Colin. Their new favorite sleep spot is my bed!

-Kelly

Thank you so much for helping me find the perfect cat to add to my family. She is the most adorable and precious kitty I've ever encountered! I changed her name from Athena to Grace Kelly (AKA: Gracie). She is rambunctious but so affectionate as well. Every night she sleeps with me and plops right on my chest. I always look forward to coming home to seeing her. She makes my day so much better. I can't believe I could ever love an animal as much as I love Gracie. I am so happy with my adoption and hope to adopt another kitty in the future.

-Noelle

Snacks (aka Max the dachshund) is the best dog I could have asked for.  He's such a sweetheart in the house- switching gears from playing fetch to cuddling in any position- at any time I direct him! If it were up to him he
would play ball ALL day. He is hooked on his purple squeaky ball -- similar to his orange ball at PAWS.  We are enjoying our friendship! Thanks PAWS!

-Jamie

I just wanted to let everyone know that Hooter ( PAWS name Mimi) is doing GREAT!   He is constantly making me smile and laugh and I'm sure all my friends are sick of hearing me tell stories about "what Hooter did today".... He loves his big brother Hairy and they are always at each others side whether it be playing or sleeping - it's worked out wonderful and I along with Hairy and Hooter couldn't be happier!

-Krista

I adopted (PAWS name Penelope) on 2/15. She has been renamed Carly, as she loves to look at herself-she's so vain!
She is the sweetest, happiest girl. Loves dogs and people. She is learning her manners, and she's a quick study. And she loves to talk!  It is just wonderful having puppy energy in the house. We look forward to many great times together. She's a gift, and I am glad she picked me!

-Ann and Carly

We adopted Cedar on January 31st. We kept the name as both it fits him and he knows it already. He has brought such great love into our home. We keep on saying that we could not have asked for a better dog. He is loving, playful, and a quick learner. He does not bark, jump on people, and is fully potty trained. We do crate him when we are gone, but that is o.k. since he loves to go into it.  We started training classes and he is picking up very well. We are learning to walk side by side instead of him in front. I take him on runs with me along the lake and he loves it. He gets along well with other dogs and we take full advantage of the park behind our house. We are not far from the Puptown dog park or the Montrose Beach doggy beach. We look forward to taking him there this summer.

-Brian and Shireen

Mr. Pickles (formerly Pashmina) and Toilette (formerly Daphne) are great.  They love wrestling and playing hard!  Toilette is obsessed with watching the toilet (hence the name), Mr. Pickles is not far behind and have nicknamed him "The Destroyer" as he just gets in to EVERYTHING!  They're very mischievous!!!

-Stacy

The adoption has gone GREAT!  Bolek's new name is Jon the Baptist. Everything has been going really well. Jon is a lot of fun to have around and still is as calm as can be. We just moved into a new condo so he has a LOT more room to run around and there is a park right across the street for us to play in. It's amazing how fast they grow, but I am excited to see how big Jon the Baptist will get. Thank you again to PAWS and its volunteers for providing an outstanding service to animals in Chicago!!!!

-Brian

Thanks for checking in on little Harper (PAWS name Tiramisu). She is quite the little spitfire: she never tires of playing with her feather toys, insists on sleeping right on my pillow at night and loves to attack you through the curtain in the shower. She has also won over her two older brothers, Henry and Holmes, which is no easy feat! The three
of them love to chase each other around the house and then snuggle up for nap time. Thanks so much for helping us bring this silly, affectionate little girl into our home! We couldn't imagine life without her!

-Geeta and Patrick

We couldn't be happier with our puppy! She has brought so much joy to our lives. Violet (PAWS name Tawny) is coming up on 5 1/2 months and she is just about 30 lbs. Her favorite things to do are going to the dog park, snuggle time in the morning and playing with any toys that are soft and squishy.

-Casandra & Dave

I adopted Jersey (PAWS name Pickles) from you in January. She is such a sweetie and has worked out to be a great addition to my family. I just wanted to say thank you for all you do. You are truly making a difference!

-Angela

Stella (PAWS name Janice) is doing great! She is enjoying her new life in our neighborhood full of new doggy friends. She already has a boyfriend, Kaminsky (also a PAWS dog) that helps her burn off some of her puppy energy. She is very smart and already knows a few tricks at 3-1/2 months. We look forward to watching her grow and develop her full personality.

-Nicole and Jose

I just wanted to share a few pictures of my little lover.  The kitten I adopted from PAWS on valentine's day. His name is Fletcher (PAWS  name Sprocket) and he is a true tabby. He runs around and plays like crazy, and the next minute, he's in my lap or curled up next to me in bed, purring like
a madman and sleeping soundly. He is a joy to have and I've loved every minute I've had with him. pets
really do bring love and laughter into every household!  Thank you so much for giving me the little bundle of love I call Fletcher.

-Emily

Writing to report in that Mu and Epsilon (formerly Sherwood and Twinkie) are doing just fabulously and love their new home. They chase and tussle and clean each other all day (when they're not zonked out snoozing, of course).  Thank you all so much. They have brought us so much wonderful, fuzzy love!

-Dominick

Thank you so much for the follow up. We adopted Vince and Mikka and we changed their names to Oliver and Mia respectively.  Mia is doing great, she is a very active and loving cat. She is really attached to us, she is playful and likes to follow us around the house.  Oliver is very shy and is a very submissive cat and is food motivated.

-Ellie

My boyfriend and I are so thrilled to have our little baby girl, Lola (PAWS name Estrellita), at our apartment. It didn't take long for her to get comfortable and situated at home. She has been nothing more than a great little addition. Lola loves to take naps and sleep in our bed and recently has become fond of sun bathing. She is not fully trained but we have gotten her use to her crate and she knows when it is time for her to be on her bed. The weather hasn't really helped with walking her outside but now that spring is here we are going to be taking long walks and Lola and I will be getting our daily dose of sun.

-Ximena

First, we would like to thank you for a wonderful adoption. We lost our former kitty due to health issues and we were delighted to adopt a new friend! We adopted Max (PAWS name Maxium) in January of this year, and he has been a wonderful addition to our home.  He loves to snuggle and play (especially with his laser light)! We just wanted to say thank you and tell you how much we love our new friend!

-Jen and Colin

Baxter is doing great! We've renamed him Jackson and he's slowly putting on weight. We are in the second week of our dog training class and he's making huge progress. He was adopted with the idea that he'd be a good running partner and he seems perfectly suited for it. We're looking forward to running together in the PAWS Run for Their Lives later this year.

-Brittany and Jeremy

I adopted Opal last December. I changed her name to Munchkin to suit her sweet but goofy personality. She has a blast running around my apartment and we spend lots of time playing together. She never stops purring and prefers to take her catnaps on my lap. She has been a wonderful addition to my life and I am glad we will have many years together. She is very social when strangers come to visit and I think this is mainly a result of the love and attention of your many volunteers. Thanks for all you have done.

- Jennifer

Just wanted to give you an update on Ella. Her new name is Rogue and she is seems to be getting used to her new name quite nicely. She is extremely well behaved. She came to me already potty trained and has learned obedient commands very quickly. She knows "sit", "down", "lay", paw shaking and "high-five". She just had her first class and seems to socialize playfully. I am very lucky to have found her.

-Michelle

We adopted Peppermint Patty from PAWS on January 13th.  Her name is now Midge and we LOVE HER! She is the cutest, wiggliest, sweetest thing we could have ever been lucky enough to find. Midge has made herself quite at home and seems to be starting to understand who the boss is. Midge sleeps in her crate at night very nicely (snoring plenty of course!) and then is allowed to cuddle in bed after her morning walk. She just passed her obedience class at but still makes it clear she will only listen if treats are involved. She LOVES playing with other dogs but is almost just as entertained with any other person around! Midge has
also tried to make friends with our cat, Dulcie, however he  has not been won over quite yet.  They've made some progress but there is still a ways to go. Until then, Midge just waits for Dulcie to be ready to play. She's our little munchkin and I am so happy that we walked into PAWS on the afternoon we did!  Thank you for rescuing her so we could make her part of our little family!

-Madeline and Doug

On February 6th of this year, Rob and I adopted Peter Parker and we're excited to say that the experience has been wonderful. Rob and I decided that we wanted to keep Peter Parker's PAWS given name, but we call him
Parker for short. Parker has been a wonderful addition to our home. He spends most of his time traipsing around the house at our heals, as he loves to be by your side. His additional hobbies include catching a good afternoon nap, trying to play tag at the dog park and making friends with every person that he passes. We're very thankful for the opportunity to take Parker into our home.

-Rob and Carrie

Luma, also goes by Lumie Loo and Luma Louanne (PAWS name Sabrina) is doing really well, she's learning so fast and loves to cuddle! She loves going on play dates with some of her doggie friends in the neighborhood, and
is the life of the party! We can't wait till it gets warmer, so we can enjoy our first summer together. Thanks so much for everything, we love her so much!!

 - Jamie & James

Canello is doing great and is excited for the warm weather! He loves to run and play in the yard and always watches to make sure everything is ok at his house. When he is not playing, he loves to sleep in the sun and has claimed a space for himself in every room of our house. We thank you so much for this wonderful opportunity to make our home complete.

-Krystle, Michael, and Canello

We adopted Schwartz (now Gunther) on Dec 7th and he's fit right into our family.  Gunther is around 28lbs.  He has a wonderful relationship with our 85 lb shepherd mix, Kira.
They are completely entertained by each other. It's as if we've always had him. I'm sending a picture from Christmas of the dogs with my daughters.

-Jennifer

Everything is fine with the new family member. We named him Pinch (PAWS name Porkchop), and he and my boxer Puck have become fast friends and companions. I have attached a current picture of him.

-Brian

Wags (her PAWS name was Nann) is doing amazingly well. She is such a bright light in our lives, and she's about half way through her obedience training. She is getting trained one on one because she's picking up the lessons so quickly, and well ahead of the planned curriculum.  We have so many pictures of Wags that we need to upload, but I've sent the enclosed picture in the past. We look forward to participating in the PAWS 1/2 marathon, and Wags will be a part of the walk. She loves her daily walks in Lincoln Park along the lakefront.

-Darran & David

Things are going better than I could have ever expected. This dog is a god-send. She is so good, so obedient and trainable. She comes with me everyday to my woodshop, and sleeps at my feet at night. I couldn't be happier, and I think she'd say the same. I renamed her Jessie (PAWS name Swirl). We'll be getting obedience training next month, though she hardly needs it.  Thanks again for checking in, and the offer for assistance.

-Brian

p.s. I tell everyone what a great experience I had at PAWS....

The puppies are doing great and have been a wonderful addition to our household. We have changed their names. Midori is now Bombay and Casey Lynch
is now Tula. They have each doubled in size since the adoption and are quite healthy.  Thanks again and we'll bring them by once the weather has changed for good.

-Ben & Niss

I am very happy with our adoption of Beans (PAWS name Ryan)! He has meshed perfectly with our other, older cat, and is the sweetest kitten I've ever met. He has an endearing, although sometimes annoying, habit of trying
to sleep on my neck in the middle of the night. Beans has also grown a lot, and as of his last visit to the vet, is in perfect health. I am so happy with the adoption and the whole process, it has definitely left a positive mark on my life.

-Laura

I adopted Rosaline and Sophie (PAWS name Squire) back in December. We are doing great - one happy family. Sophie is such a cuddle bug and loves to be held while she purrs in your ear. Rosaline is such a playful one and loves to bounce around meowing and playing with string. The two have become great adopted sisters and play very well with
each other. I couldn't be happier with these two darlings... thank you so much for taking care of them before they became mine. They cuddle and play most of the day.. it's the best family ever. Thanks again and keep in
touch!

-Beth

Sammi (PAWS name Shannon) is doing great! After fostering her for many weeks we are glad to have her as a permanent member of our family. She is adjusting well and having a lot of fun with her big sis Mya.

-Lindsay & Adam

Smithers is doing great! He is the best and most beautiful cat there can be! He loves to play like crazy. but also is snuggly and sweet. He definitely is king of the castle! I have included pics of him from the day he got his scratching post, which he loves.

-Joyce

We have renamed Mindy (PAWS Alumni Zoey) . She makes us so happy. Every time one of us comes home she is standing at the door wagging her tail and jumping 2 feet in the air until you give her some attention. She will then start running around the apartment looking for a toy for us to throw for her. She is also very well behaved. She hardly barks or cries and sleeps through the entire night. I don't think we could have picked a better dog. She is a very loving dog and will continuously kiss you until you make her stop. She especially loves to kiss us in the morning when she is ready to get up and we are still sleeping. Thank you for all of your help in adopting Zoey.

- Aimee

Martin is doing great! He is very obedient, and very smart. He knows how to sit, lay down, stay, speak and sit pretty. He is great at the local dog park and fits right in. We walk him three times a day without fail, two long walks in the morning and afternoon, and one quick walk at night. We crate trained him and now he goes to his crate to take a nap, and will willingly go into the crate if we are going to be gone for a couple of hours. Luckily, my wife and I are musicians and we work strange hours that infrequently overlap. So, he has it good!!

- Matt

Salem is doing great! She is gaining weight and visitors have commented on how she looks much healthier then when she first came home. She has been introduced to dogs, and while not overly affectionate, she is definitely interested in them. We have traveled to Michigan and Tennessee and she enjoyed her homes away from home. She loves to play and is extremely curious. Her favorite toy is a tennis ball, and she waits for me at the door, mewing as I come up the stairs.  I knew the day I saw her she was meant for me, and I believe that even more with every day that passes. I wanted to thank you, because not only did you give her to me, but you gave her a safe place to wait for me, and for that we are both grateful.

-Caroline

Teddy (PAWS name Rupee) is an absolute love. He's been a member of the family since the day we brought him home. He loves to cuddle and play with his sister Casey and TOYS! He's the sweetest little guy in the world and I can't thank PAWS enough for bringing him into our life.

-Kate

Chopper (his original name that has stuck) is doing well. He's a little bit of a devil, chewing shoes, carpet and the like but he is getting better.  He goes to day care with his sister, Lasey on Mon and Wed and is making friends. He definitely loves being the center of attention and gets it fromeveryone he meets.

-Frederick

Paddy  ( PAWS name Booger ) is doing great. He is a real sweetheart. This darling Glen of Imaal Terrier has adjusted well. In fact, the day we brought him home, he immediately made himself at home and jumped on one of our sofas and went to sleep! Like most terriers he is a quick learner and very loyal. He loves people and other dogs. He has done remarkably well in the dog park. Thank you again for the wonderful job PAWS is doing.

-Karen & Joe

Barry was his name now he is Jumper. He's awesome. The most affectionate cat I've ever met. Sleeps with me every night and follows me wherever I go.

-Ellen

Adrian is now known as Indiana (or Indy). Everything is going very well. He gets along with everyone and every dog and is already learning some new tricks. So far he's loved the snow this winter and will probably enjoy trips out to his lake house once spring arrives.

-David

Many thanks for your e-mail. Jamal and Rajah (PAWS nam Caraway and Suki) are doing really well! They are precious, and there isn't a single day I'm not absolutely excited to come home.  We couldn't be happier with our decision!

-Jasmine

My cat Lapo, formerly Ichabod, is doing wonderfully. He loves his new home, and his new dog. He is a real character, and much beloved. Here is a photo of him sleeping peacefully in the dog crate.

-Amy

Thanks again for the new addition - Pepper (PAWS name Betsy). Our previously adopted Mississippi rescue Krush is getting to be happier about having a sister.  Thanks for everything you do!

-Kristina

Hi. We adopted Heidi, who has been renamed Deenah. She is absolutely the perfect dog, and we couldn't be happier. She is sweet, friendly, easy going and fairly tolerant of the hissing she still gets from the two cats. She is learning to walk on a leash, reluctantly but steadily, and she is an angel in the house. She has learned "go to your room," to get
her to sit on her bed while we eat dinner. When we were at the adoptathon, we asked a volunteer to help us pick a
great dog, and he took us right to Deenah. He was so right!!
The most amazing thing is that she smiles! I swear, absolutely, she smiles when anyone in the family comes in the door.

-Valerie

Dale now known as Pancakes is doing great. She has made a couple new friends at her new home, one would be our friends dog, Lola every time Lola comes over they don't spend a minute apart. She is awesome a very cuddly cat.  She loves to sleep with us and be by us as much as possible. She has a huge fascination with water, shadows and hiding. She doesn't like any real cat toys she rather play with a pen, jewelry, and string.

-Mark and Tori

We adopted Winnie who we renamed Bassie.  She has only three legs and had some adjusting too do when we received her. Since she was only use to the room at the shelter putting her in our master bathroom took her two weeks to get use to and we had two more cats to introduce her to. After two weeks in the bathroom she got the run of the bathroom and bedroom, that was interesting.  She has taken over the couch and loves to bake in the sun.

-Darci

I adopted Goldre on 12/7/08. His name is now Oscar and he has really turned into a great dog. The first couple months were difficult because he is a high energy dog with a dominating personality, he also needed some socialization skills with other dogs and small children.  Oscars energy was a bit much to handle on my own. He goes to day care every Monday-Wednesday- and Friday now for 6 hours a day. And Yes, he absolutely loves playing with other dogs now and is the life of the party up there.  When I pick Oscar up from there he can hardly move cause he is so tired. They call him the energizer bunny cause its almost impossible to wear him out. In addition to the daycare three times a week I also walk him 2 to 3 times a day so we can spend time on "the all important walk". Draining his energy and staying calm assertive has really made this dog calm down in only a short period of time and turn into very happy balanced dog.  I really love this little dog.

Oscar and I say THANKS!!!

-Kevin

I just wanted to let you know how crazy we are about Max
(PAWS name Maximillion), whom we adopted in September! He is just a big lover and loves playing with our chocolate lab, Wilson. I can't imagine our home without him.

-The Lamble Family

My husband and I adopted Newman at the adopt-a-thon. We took Newman home and decided to give him a new name. His name is Sarge. Sarge is naturally a good dog. Since taking him home, he has really conformed to our life style. He loves to cuddle and give kisses. He also likes to play with his cousins Biscuit & Boomer (formerly known as Austin, who my parents adopted the same day).  He really likes the snow and likes to run around in circles outside. He also loves sleeping on the couch and watching dog shows. We can't wait until the weather warms up so we can take him for long walks and to the park.

-Sue & Scott

Thank for your recent note about our adoption of Hosea. We have not changed his name given to him by PAWS. He is a wonderful dog and has been a great addition to our family.  He is in great health. We really made a great choice going through PAWS for our dog and would do it again in a heartbeat.  I want to point out that your matching system
is great and you really did a great job of matching our family and the way we live with a great dog.

-Victor

Thanks for checking in on our dog formerly known by the name of Scottie. His new name is Sanchez and he has been such a joy.  We've finally settled in to a routine of walks, playtime and lots of love. He's mostly
well behaved and fits our personality perfectly. The weekends are filled with very long walks for him and trips to the dog park, which he loves.  Sanchez even flew out to California with us for the holidays where he was
introduced to the beach and his new 'grandparents.'

-Zipporah and Oliver

We just wanted to send a quick update on Pops & Lucy (PAWS name Gertrude). They are happy, healthy, and settling in nicely in their new home. They spend lots of time playing with their squishy toys, running around in the backyard, and of course, lounging on the couch. They love walks (although they do need some more work on the lead), and we know they will be really excited when Spring arrives (us too!), so they can finally check out the beach.

-Tracey, Dan, Pops & Lucy

Baxter (PAWS name Yadi Jr.) is doing great! He took the trek with me back to my hometown of Cleveland and he did fantastic, including meeting a couple other pups. I was so excited to have him home with me. My friends call him "The Heartbreaker," because people seriously fight over his attention when they are over.  He has been a ball of energy - and loving his Kong toy. He loves his walks and we have even made a foray into the dog park. Baxter had a blast but his owner was too cold, so we only stayed 10 minutes. We can't wait to go back. He has learned sit, lie down, stay, crawl (like a military crawl - so funny), roll over, and "leave
it." I love training him.

-Megan

I adopted Johnny Napalm, a chow and Shepard mix.  We decided to rename him Paws one for the size of his paws and for two where we found him. He is such an adorable and loveable dog and is so great with my daughter, who is about a year and a half. She loves to help him wag his tail, and give him her food...LOL  Thank you for everything....we can't imagine life without our Paws!

-Angelica

Just writing to say that Laretta is doing well in her new family. We adopted her on November 1st and she's adjusted well to her life with us. We haven't changed her name and she gets to spend a lot of time with people and other dogs. She's just the happiest - most wonderful and loving dog ever!

Attached is a photo of her with Drew. They spend a lot of time together on the kitchen floor.

-Jae

Peepers has been with us only a few days and we couldn't be happier! When we saw her in PAWS, we knew she was meant to come home with us and we're so glad she did! She looked so lonely and sad, but that face has disappeared. She's started to blossom. Peepers shows her affection by wagging her tail and snuggling with us. She's so sweet!  We leave her during the day and she hasn't had one accident in the house. She's such a good girl. Jeff takes her out during his lunch when he can and I rush home every day eager to see her and walk. She loves exploring.  To sum it up, she's the new love in our lives. She's added a lot of joy and it seems we've done the same for her. We are so grateful to PAWS for having her and we'll continue to love her and spoil her ;)

-Angela & Jeff

The kittens I adopted a couple of months ago have been fantastic! Their names are Franny and Feist (formerly Loralei). They get along great with each other and are both super sweet each in their own way. Franny is very affectionate both to me and Feist, while Feist is more laid
back. However, when Franny isn't looking, Feist really loves to follow me around and eats up all the attention They constantly wrestle with each other, and cuddle and groom each other. They each have their own talents too - Feist loves to jump super high in the air when she plays, and Franny likes to play fetch. They are both so awesome and we're all a perfect match for each other. I

I'm 100% pleased with the adoption and the entire process with PAWS!
Thank you!

-Christina

Just wanted to give you an update on our beloved Mopsy (we didn't change her name - she knew it too well!).  Mopsy now weighs over 30 lbs and is healthy and strong and is the center of our world. She is friendly and gentle, and our 4 children get up early just to play with her. She has excellent manners, a kind heart and will do anything for a word of praise and a snuggle. We are SO HAPPY to have Mopsy as part of our family! Thank you PAWS!

-Kathy

Thank you so much! Rufus is doing great.  Keep up the great work!

-Tom

We wanted to update you on Hickory's (PAWS name Orville) progress. He and Clover, our Golden Retriever (Hickory's big brother), get along remarkably well. Clover and Hickory love to wrestle at home, in the back yard, and at the dog park together. All of the regulars at the park are amazed at how well the boys play together, as well as, with the other dogs. We are so blessed to have such wonderful dogs and a wonderful cat. Thank you all at Paws. Keep doing the great work that you do.

-Lourdes and Mike

We would like to thank you again for our new family member. Her adoption name was Honeycrisp, but we renamed her Precious. She is as playful as can be and is enjoying her new home. My boyfriend and I don't know what we did without her. She can be a mischievous little thing at times, like when she climbed up the Christmas tree :-) but she has been such a wonderful addition to our household. We are so happy to have her and everyone absolutely adores her.

-Jessica and Leo

Sorry it has taken so long to fill you in on what has been happening with Beau, the Bouvier Mix that we adopted back in November. As you may have guessed, a lot has been going on with him since, and every day is a new adventure with him. The first change was his name. We named him Griffin, and he responded to the change immediately. His shagginess and attitude fits the name, and it suits him well.
Griffin has taken full charge of activities, and encourages Luke to join in, with no shyness whatsoever. He and Luke carry on like brothers: not always getting along, but living together and playing together mostly peacefully. It is never a dull moment here in our household.

-Jamie

Our most recent PAWS alumnus, Mouse, has quickly become an important part of our family. Our vet confirmed that he is a blue Chihuahua (apparently a rarity)!
Mark and I couldn't be more delighted at our new addition and feel very very blessed to have him join our family. Mouse's brother Echo (a beagle PAWS 2007 alum) had this to say about this extension to our family and asked us to share this with you and the entire PAWS team: "I was pretty indifferent to Mouse at first but now I love having a furry friend around to play with all day. We chase each other around the house, usually with a toy in our mouths, tails wagging. Sometimes we run so fast, we collapse on the floor next to each other, tongues
panting with that silly grin on our faces.

-Lisamarie and Mark

We adopted Sasha on Saturday, January 24th and would like to thank you for giving us this opportunity. Sasha Marie has made a quick transition into our home, and knows that she is a valued family member. On her very first day with us, she investigated every nook and cranny of the premises. She found warm, cozy spots to nap and also spent lots of time with her mommy and daddy. She is very loving and took to us quickly; she even slept under the covers and curled up with us on her first night in her new home. She
woke up early this morning with her daddy and "helped" him get ready for work. Then, she came back to bed and snuggled with her mommy until it was time to get up and have breakfast. She is very vocal, and tells us when she needs something by getting our attention and bringing us to the source of her need or desire.

-Meredith, Doug, and Sasha Marie

Everything is great here with the "Mortie" (her more formal name is Morticia) (PAWS name Brie). We are so happy to have adopted her. Attached is a picture from a few weeks ago with Mortie decked out in her cold weather/snow gear.

-Fran and Bob

Paulie, now Ollie, is doing just great and growing an inch a minute. He loves his new big sister very much and pesters her every chance he gets. Mia, our 1st dog, loves her new little brother and they play all of the time.  He is certainly a forever keeper and keeps us laughing on a regular basis. He already needs a new bed because he has grown out of
his first one.

-Nicole, Mia, and Ollie

Palmer and Hayden (PAWS names Patrice and Jovanna) are happy and healthy.  Hayden loves to sit on my chest every morning to get cuddled before I get up, and Palmer never fails to greet me at the door when I get home from work. They're very playful and affectionate. I feel so lucky to have them both in my life.

-Erin

The cat formally known as Brian has settled in nicely to his new digs.  He has been re-named Chester....not sure why, it just fits him.  His playmate Charlie is so grateful to have someone to play with who is as feisty as Chester.  He is a very sweet boy.

Thank you to the staff at PAWS who recommended Chester/Brian!

-Alison

Lexie is amazing, I love her so much! We actually just got her a warming pad which she won't get off of in this cold weather. She has a great personality and adjusted so well to the apartment. She is so fun and cuddly and sweet, she loves to sleep on my boyfriend's chest.
Lexie is a true torbie and loves to play with her mouse toys and simple things like a piece of paper folded with a treat inside.  Thanks again for everything! I've told anyone I know who want to adopt an animal to go to PAWS.

-Rebecca, George and Lexie

Heidi and Cobber (PAWS name Christian) love their new home with us. They're particularly fond of runs, going to Montrose Beach, and chasing each other in the snow. Cobber is particularly outgoing and has to introduce himself to every dog in Logan Square. Heidi, on the other hand, has amazed us with how gentle she is when small children are around. They've been a welcome addition to our lives.

-- John and Alison

Molly, AKA Celia, and  Suzy Q has expressed dissatisfaction with the choice of kitty litter that her adoptive parents have provided. She can be seen in her photo surfing the Internet and Googleing different brands of kitty litter.  She prefers to use the MAC, hardly ever using the PC.

-Richard

Everything is going well. We actually adopted two cats from PAWS in November, Connor and Ginger. We renamed Ginger to Abby pretty quickly, and she's taken to it well.
They're both very healthy and happy.  We're very, very happy with our new family members!

-Marc

We adopted Scooby on Oct 31, 2008. When we got him, he was very calm and easy going dog.  He has become a MUCH more energetic dog.  He loves his daily walks and seeing his friends in the neighborhood: Maggie, a 14 mos. old Shepard and Merlin, an old Irish setter mix. He loves running in deep snow and jumps like a gazelle through it. He enjoys anything we can do to make getting
treats a challenge, so we've bought him Kong toys that we can stuff with peanut butter and biscuits and that take him hours to get all the best parts out.  We also changed his name to Rhys. (Rhymes with geese).  Rhys is Welsh for enthusiastic, and boy is he!

-John, Michael and Rhys

Everything is going great. We changed Mickey's name to Murphy when we got him home. Murphy is an absolute angel. He is the sweetest dog and does the funniest things. I am attaching a picture of him trying to get some shut eye after the holidays.

-Amanda

My roommate and I have been so happy with the dog we adopted from PAWS (formerly Ginger, now Tallulah or "Lulu"). She is such a sweetheart and has adjusted perfectly to her new home. She loves going for walks, exploring the neighborhood, and meeting new friends.
Lulu is very eager to please and loves playing with the other dogs.

-Claire
