PAWS Chicago Alumni

We LOVE our puppy, Scout. He was named Billy at PAWS. He has the funniest curly tail and is getting bigger and bigger and bigger! We are still not quite sure what he is. Scout's "girls" (ages 10, 8 and 3) think he is the smartest dog ever. He can sit, wait, watch and go down. They all take turns feeding him and are trying to teach him to play fetch. Scout likes to play take the ball and run with it!  He seems to really like other dogs and is very playful.  Scout is so cute, the way he uses his paws and the way he turns his head and pricks up his ears when we are talking to him. We have gotten so attached to him. He is part of our family!

-The George Family

Champ is doing well. He's an old crank yet energetic dog.  He's great though. He loves tennis balls and runs down the hallways chasing them. He's our lil' 'ol baby. we sent some pics of him on his first road trip.

-Matt

We are very happy with our latest addition, Scrappy Le Pooh (PAWS name Sweetkins).  She gets along with our cat Nube (PAWS name Luna) that we adopted in August. They are the best of friends and we enjoy watching them chase each other around. I will however will never know what it is like to sleep in again because they are always waiting at my door at 6:30 am to be fed but my sister and I are extremely happy that they have both adjusted well here and with each other.

-Sophie

Everything is going really great! We renamed Danity, Maddy. She is very well behaved, and very loving. She visits the Pup town dog park regularly, and loves to play with other dogs.

Thanks for helping bring this little one into our lives!

-The Hess Family
John, Nora, and Maddy

Miss Violet is doing great in our home. We kept her name because it has special significance to our family, it was part of the reason we were drawn to her in the first place.  Vi is potty trained and has already learned to sit, stay, lay down, and shake, she is super smart. She loves running around outside and picking up sticks that are way too big for her. We think she would do really well in some agility classes when she gets a little older. She is very cuddly, she likes to get under the blankets and lay on your legs or spoon. We are so excited to have her in our family.  Thanks so much to PAWS for allowing us to find our new family member!

~Heather & Micah

Things are going very well with our adopted kitty, Rhoda. She's such a sweet cat and makes our lives much brighter. We haven't changed her name, as we felt that her name fit her personality perfectly.  Thanks so much for all your work and taking great care of the animals at PAWS.

-Caitlin and John

We are very happy with the adoption and love having Mary (Changed her name to Bailey) as part of the family. As you can see from the attached picture, she is getting along very well with our 4 year old Beagle (Mick) and has settled in quite well. She is growing like a weed and is also thoroughly enjoying the puppy training class.

Thanks again for placing us with Bailey.

-Ryan and Becky

Thank you for inquiring about Ms. Cali, our lovely young calico and PAWS alumni.  She has warmed her way deep into our hearts and home. She is a daily source of joy and entertainment to both us and our older cat, Castor.  He has been happy to have another cat's company since his brother's passing, and Cali has certainly made him alert and lively. Thank you for helping us find Cali. She is a joy and treasure to our household. We love love LOVE her.

-Karen and Bo

Tut & Teddy (PAWS name Patrick) are doing great! Teddy has grown so fast & already weighs a little over 5 pounds! It only took a couple weeks for them to become best buddies! They have brought so much happiness to our lives. They enjoy playing together and especially love to cuddle. Thank you for this opportunity to adopt such amazing & loving animals.

-Matt & Anna

I am very happy with my kitten (named Linc, but I spell it Link) that I adopted shortly before Thanksgiving 2008.  His most recent visit to the vet went really well - good weight and is very healthy.

-Rachel

As seen in the attached pictures - Buddy (PAWS name Matty) is doing extremely well after 1.5 years!

-Julie

Just to let you know that Bruce (PAWS name Barney) is doing just fine and enclosed is a picture of him and his brother Nick.

-Mary Ann

Hey there! Everything is going good with Tony.

-Janice

The cat I adopted, Jimmy, is doing great. We had to relocate in October to Michigan for my job and he took it very well (minus the car ride)!  He has more windows and space, but his favorite place to be is still on my lap (and just about every visitor's, lap if they allow it).  I love living with him and the adoption was a great experience. I also
really appreciate the advice about his personality.  I don't regret it and love his loving, playful personality.  Thanks so much.for the thorough adoption.

-Starli

I adopted Jo-Jo in November.  Since then, she's doubled in size and has started giving my 2-year-old Border Collie/Terrier mix a run for his money.  She loves carrots and ice cubes, loves watching herself chew her toys in front of any reflective surface, and has converted my entire family into dog-lovers.  She and her story have even inspired my dad to adopt a rescue dog of his own.  Adopting Jo-Jo, who I've re-named Ainslie, was the best decision I've made in a long time, and has transformed my lonely apartment into a loving home.

-Leigh and Ainslie

Bandit is doing great though. I call him Benny for short. He pretty much owns the apartment now. I think
he has a bed in every room and just wanders from one to another to take naps. When he's feeling energetic, he runs all around the apartment and wants to play a bit. He's not particularly fond of baths, but he'll put up
with it for about 1.5 minutes. All in all, he is the sweetest dog and so perfect for me. I've only had him for 2.5 months and I already can't imagine coming home and not having him peek around the corner. :)

-Molly

Figaro (PAWS name Oscar) is such a fabulous addition to our home! His first few days were spent firmly parked under the bed, but within the first week he figured out that he was truly home and came out to explore every inch of
his new pad. Although Fig doesn't like to be held, he absolutely loves to be petted and to have attention lavished upon him by anyone who walks in the door. He follows me around the apartment and sleeps right next to me at night (he especially likes to sleep under the covers as the picture shows).  He's very energetic and loves the Da Bird toy that Louisa suggested.  He just needed a good home, and we're happy that he's got one now.

~Ashleigh and Raleigh

I received your email regarding an update status on our adoption of Mag Pie (She has been renamed to Sadie. "Sexy Sadie" if your a Beatles fan). Let me start with saying that she has changed our lives and she has filled it with so much more love.  She is such a wonderful addition to our family and her personality fits us perfectly. She's seems genuinely happy to be our pet and almost seems like she wants to be on her best behavior. Such a doll.  Thank you guys for all that you do and working so hard to make sure wonderful animals, like Sadie, find the good homes they all deserve to find.

-Liz and Dan

Josh and I absolutely love our new addition to the family, Honovi. He is playful and loves to cuddle. He's a perfect match to Nasi. We decided to keep his name Honovi although we call him Novi or Bubbies for short. He was easy to house train and we didn't have to go through the hard process of crating while being left alone because he's fantastic in the house with Nasi. He's gained a little bit of weight since the adoption and no longer has to wear a sweater outside. He wasn't so sure about the snow at first but now loves to run in it and eat it too.  He's great with other dogs and loves going to doggy day care about once a week. We wouldn't trade him or give him back for anything. He's now a permanent part of our family.

-Amy

Thank you for following up! Madison ( PAWS name Amanda) and Woodrow ( PAWS name Hansel) are doing great!! They have adapted to each other really well, and treat each other like brother and sister would. Madison's personality is really coming out she's very laid back but curious, she is a purrr machine and loves to cuddle! Woodrow is extremely playful and loves to bug Madison when she doesn't pay attention to him and once he's warn out loves to fall asleep on my husbands lap. Madison and Woodrow are the first cats we have ever had, and we can't get enough of them! Thank you for letting them come home with us!!

-Jackie & Joel

Our kitten is doing great. Our daughter renamed him Diego, he was previously named Paul. He is truly a great cat, wonderful with our 3 yr old and just very happy and affectionate. Thank you again for everything!

-Lara

I would like to thank you all so much for bring our big baby Beck home to us.  His new name is Jack! Jack could get not better we all love him so much but he is truly my best friend, Jack now goes with me every where, he is no longer shy or afraid of anything.  Thank you all again.

-The Weinbrecht Family!

Everything is going well with my adopted pet, Otto. Vernon (Hey Vern) as he's now called is a great dog. He recently returned from a long holiday trip to my parents' home on Martha's Vineyard where he enjoyed running on the beach and the company of a few other dogs. He was the constant center of attention. I attach a photo of him with my sister.

-Brad

We are doing wonderful. We named Duffy,  Mochi and she is super happy.  My family loves her when we go to family parties and she's so well behaved. We love her and spoil her a bit when we let her sleep with us. She loves to run around outside, unfortunately it's so cold out that the salt bothers her paws and she won't wear the booties we bought her. I can't wait till its warmer so she can play at a doggie park.

-Linda (Happy Owner)

Hi we did change Bambi's name to Peanut. She's doing well and has adjusted to her new home. Her obedience training is progressing and she can sit, stay and almost lay down . . . almost. She's got a lot of energy and keeps us busy.

-Todd

We changed Brandy's name to Celeste Corrine and she is wonderful.  She loves to cuddle in bed and burrow under the covers. It's very cute.  Celeste is so sweet and I hope we have her for many years. She likes to play
a little and gets really excited when she goes outside, but mostly she just likes to cuddle and get attention. She is such a joy!  She sees lots of friends in the elevators and has become very playful and much, much less timid with even the largest of dogs, including bernese mountain
dogs! It's so cute and nice to know that she is feeling secure and loved.

-Megan

I'm writing to update you on our puggle Haley (PAWS name Billie Jean). We are so lucky to have found her! As you can see from the pictures, she has snuggled her way into our hearts. She is getting along well with her brother Archie, a tabby we rescued five years ago, and has even helped him lose a few pounds with their multiple daily playtimes. Haley, on the other hand, has gained two pounds. Our vet said she was too skinny when we adopted her. Now she is healthy and loves to accompany her mom on jogs a few days a week.  We could not be more grateful to have Haley. Our last dog died unexpectedly from a rare disease last May. After being dogless for six months we so appreciate all the joy and love Haley brings to our lives. Though I don't love getting bundled up to go for walks in the cold and snow, once we're outside and Haley is pouncing and playing in the snow, I always find myself smiling in the chill. I was laid off a few weeks ago and I think I would be going crazy if we didn't have Haley. While my husband works all day, Haley and I get to go for jogs, meet new buddies at the dog park, work on training, play and of course snuggle. I have friends who have also lost their jobs and are so bored right now. Haley keeps me excited for each day. Thank you so much PAWS for bringing us together!

-Julia and Jon

Just wanted to update you on Kifney (PAWS name Butler).  He's doing great! He and my son are two peas in a pod. They enjoyed Halloween; Kifney had a cape and went as Super Dog and my son was the Red Power Ranger. They took the neighborhood by storm!  Thank you for helping us find the piece of our family puzzle that had been missing for so long. He's wonderful. Thanks again.

-Jacki and Anthony

My fiancee and I adopted Charlie back at the end of November. We call him Humprhey now, and he is settling
in with us pretty well. I hope you enjoy the picture I have attached of him below.

-Cooper

Things are going great! I did change Perry's name to Charlie. He comes to work with me everyday, I'm a physical therapist and he loves greeting all my
patients! They love him too. We also enrolled in a good manners class, he is doing wonderfully. I am so happy that I adopted him.

-Stefany

Mars is doing really well. We have changed his name to Wrigley. Wrigley is so much better now. He has finished up with all of the heartworm treatments, and is much more like himself. He is still super sweet and adorable, but has a lot more energy than he did when we first got him. We are taking him back to the vet next Tuesday to have blood work done in order to verify that the heartworm is 100% gone.

-Carly

Shadow  (PAWS name Evelyn) is doing great! She finished her obedience training back in December
and has settled nicely in her new home.

-Oszark

I adopted Andromeda a few months ago. I changed her name to Lillie. Lillie is doing great. My other cat, Ralph (Tangy was his name there), who I also adopted from you guys awhile back, took some time getting used to her but
now they are in love. They never leave each others sides.

-Jackie

I just wanted to let everyone at PAWS know how Rock (now Murphy) is doing.  I adopted him in mid-November, and while the transition has not been completely smooth, he's doing great now. He's a wonderful dog, and we're
constantly amused by his random spurts of puppy energy. He started going to doggy day care last week in an effort to get him some socialization with other dogs, and that seems to be going well. Obedience school is our next hurdle; he's gets a little too excited when he's outside. He's such a great guy he even lets me dress him up from time to time.

~ Carly and Murphy

I am just returning your email about the dog my roommates and I adopted Nellie. We did change her name to Marley. She is wonderful and nothing could be better we love her to death and feel she adjusted to our apartment just great.

-Katharine

Simon is great (PAWS name Squeekers)! We totally love him.....we secretly call him "pig" though....he never stops eating or begging for food!

-Andrea

Both Avi (PAWS name Blender) and Pierce (PAWS name Barack) are doing great. They have really bonded and love to play & nap together. Avi loves being around humans, very much a lap cat and Pierce is the typical cat, always finding something to play with and very curious about everything. They both have brought a lot of warmth to our home :)

-Mary & Lorena

Spike is now Max.  He is doing great.

-Liana

This is Buddy.  His name was formerly Brewster.
He is a great puppy, very cuddly and affectionate.  We love him and are very happy he joined our family.

-Erin

Abby is doing great (PAWS name Puma). She is very sweet.

-Stephanie

Spike is now Max.  He is doing great.

-Liana

I am emailing an update on JoJo (Paws name Cookie). JoJo has settled into our home quite well since we adopted her in October. It did take a few weeks for our other kitty to warm up to her but now the two are inseparable. They are always playing, wrestling and sleeping together. When one walks into the room you know the other one isn't far behind!  She loves sleeping draped across the back of the couch and playing on her incline scratching box. We've discovered she LOVES fur! Anything with fur....her furry chipmunk and
especially the fur collar on my coat!

-Tara

Waveland is doing great.

-Suellen

Just wanted to send along an update on the puppy we adopted. Her PAWS name was Sunshine, but we have changed her name to Sadie. She's doing great and is a much loved part of the household! She loves to play in the park with other dogs from the neighborhood and is coming along really well with her training. Sadie has a ton of personality and keeps us laughing- thank you for giving us such a wonderful dog!

-Cavan

Blackjack doing very well and once we got through the potty training, no problems!

-Morgann & Blackjack

Everything is going great over here with the new kitten! Formally known as Casanova his new name is Blackjack. He is getting along great with our other cat Bell. They play together, eat together, and get into lot of mischief together! They defiantly keep us on our toes!!! Blackjack loves to cuddle at night and gives kisses constantly! he has so much energy and just loves to follow Bell around and learn the "ropes". He is such a loving baby! We are truly blessed to have found him!

-Jackie

I adopted an adorable nine week old kitten from Paws in November. She has been renamed Layla (PAWS name Nicki) and is happier than can be. I rescued a cat two years ago named Stinks and I was nervous that Stinks would react negatively to Layla because he has never been around other cats before. I was dead wrong, the cats fell in love the minute they met. Stinks has adopted
Layla as his baby, her grooms her and they sleep together too. The adoption worked out better than I could have ever imagined.

-Steph

I am writing to let you know that everything is going wonderfully with my cat Oliver, the kitten formally known as Ping to PAWS Chicago. He has a ton of energy and spunk, and loves to get into anything and everything, but he's still as cuddly as can be. Total sweetheart. Oliver, who I am guessing is about 7 months old now, is actually about the size of a small full-grown cat, so I can tell he is going to be a big boy. He eats a lot and keeps growing bigger by the week, but he's still cute as can be.

-Kristi

Our adopted dog is doing great. Her name is now Gracie, formerly Kiwpy.  She is healthy and enjoying her new home. I attached a picture of her hanging out on our bed and a picture of her wearing her sweater.

-Meghan and Mike

Everything is going very well with our kitties, Fievel and O'Malley (PAWS names Winston and Swift Scout). They are growing so fast! We love them and are providing them with a wonderful home. Thank you for checking in.

-Krin and Etan

As new pet parents, we are grateful to the friendly PAWS volunteers who directed us to the Senior Cat Room where we met many colorful characters. After two visits, we crossed our fingers and hoped we’d make good roommates with our new friend. We adopted Emma (PAWS name Lovely), a beautiful calico. She is all we were hoping for and more. She can’t seem to get enough petting and brushing. She jumps into our laps when we sit at the computer. She flops on her side in front of us as if to say, “Play!”. My children and I want you to know that she is doing well and we couldn’t be happier. Thank you!

- Laurel

I've attached a picture of Milo (PAWS name Richie) in his new home. Even though he looks poised and calm, he sprung into action moments after the picture was snapped. That is one energetic dog. Thanks again for everything.

- Kari

We thought you would like an update on our dog Mitzi (PAWS name Missy). You may remember that she was the first dog in your Foreclosure adoption program and was featured in the Angel Tales magazine last summer. After her media blitz and adoption, we went on a "Diet to Lose" with good old fashioned diet and exercise. Those of you who knew her, may enjoy the attached photo. (OK...we may have picked up a pound or two during the winter months...but doesn¹t everyone?). Mitzi has turned into an extremely loyal dog. She continues to enjoy her walks and is extremely well-behaved indoors. We feel very fortunate to have found her and we continue to be grateful for all that PAWS did for her.

- Julie

Here are some photos of King. Two are with the bandana and one without. I'm sorry the ones with the bandana aren't too good -- holding him down wasn't easy!

- Frank

Desmond (PAWS name Linus) was PAWS' 3,017 adoption in 2008! He is a sweet 7 year old Shepherd/Husky mix who has melted my heart. Desmond and the cats are getting along really well. I feel truly blessed with having Desmond in my life.

- Pat

Figaro (PAWS name Oscar) is such a fabulous addition to our home! His first few days were spent firmly parked under the bed, but within the first week he figured out that he was truly home and came out to explore every inch of his new pad. Although Fig doesn't like to be held, he absolutely loves to be petted and to have attention lavished upon him by anyone who walks in the door. He follows me around the apartment and sleeps right next to me at night (he especially likes to sleep under the covers as the picture shows). He's very energetic and loves the Da Bird toy that you suggested. He was in the "fiesty" room at PAWS, so we didn't expect him to be as friendly and sweet as he is but we're glad we were wrong! He just needed a good home, and we're happy that he's got one now. Thanks for everything!

- Ashleigh and Raleigh

We changed her name from Ani to Katy. She has been a very good fit for our family. She is healthy and happy.  She is incredibly sweet to our young daughter which had been a big worry and would have been a deal breaker. No worries there, Katy seems to prefer our daughter's company to ours.

We actually "found" Katy at the Animal Control when she was being relinquished there. We were told how long they would wait to put her out for adoption and when we should return to try to meet her the following week. The day we adopted Katy at PAWS we had already been to the Animal Control to look for her. When we got to PAWS she was the first dog we saw.  Felt a little like destiny.

Thank you so much for all you do to help animals and families find each other.

-Traci

We are doing so great! Bogart (PAWS name Presley) has really adjusted to the family.

-Hannah

Just wanted to report that Otis (PAWS name Ralphie) is doing great.  He is so cute and really smart and taking to his training very well. He's very good at sitting and staying and we are currently working on 'lay down' and 'come'. He loves to play with other dogs and is very sweet to people. Everyone loves him. He's good in the snow but we can't wait for his first summer-- especially to take him swimming at a lake. His new hobby is looking out the window.

Thanks so much, this has been a great experience already-- PAWS went above
and beyond our expectations.

-Jodie

Ezmerelda is doing well, I kept her name and just changed the s to a z and she has a middle name too which is Mae. She is a fun loving kitten and has adapted to my other cat well along with my apt. We visited my parents over the holiday and she came with and loved every min. of it, especially her presents! Thanks for checking up on her.

-Jennifer

Twix is FiFi's new name and she loves it! She is doing great and we love her. It seriously makes my day when she is waiting by the door for me!

-Michelle

We are still very much smitten with Raquel.  We found that the little dog harness is well tolerated by her, and she does not bite her back with it on.  She was great in the car (5 hours to St. Louis) and great with our grandson, age 2. He fed her treats, and she allowed him to pet her which he did very softly.  She did not run and hide, but stayed right in the mix of people and children.

-Jan

My husband and I adopted Walter (PAWS name Howard) and he fell right into place in our home and hearts. After our wedding in September, we were eager to find the first addition to our new family, and Walter has been that and so much more. He is our constant companion and likes to be right in on all the action, whether it be watching television on the couch with us in the evening, walking around Lincoln Park, meeting up
with friends (furry and non), or attending parties of any kind. His tail is forever wagging with contentment and that keeps us all smiling together. He is a big hit with everyone he meets, getting praise for his handsome looks
by nearly every passerby. We must agree, he is quite a good looking little hound. It is his pleasant disposition that really takes the crown. Walter is the king of our castle and we are so happy he found us.

-Bob, Erin and Walter

Hi to all the staff and volunteers at PAWS Chicago!  I adopted a kitten named Twinkle.  She is the best thing that's happened to all of us in a while. She instantly became friends with the dog--this cat is fearless! We changed her name to Stella. She seems to be loving her new home. Her favorite things are pop bottle caps, playing with the dog, and shoulder rides. This girl follows us everywhere. She's not even afraid of water! She jumps into the shower, the bath, and the sink and gets soaked. Then she shakes off like a dog. She also lets me clip her nails without a fight. What a good kid, huh? We really feel we could not have adopted a better match. She's even taking a trip with us to Texas in two weeks! Well, thank you again, PAWS, for helping us find our match. You folks took great care of Ms. Stella, and we appreciate that. We love our little girl!

-Elyse and Sam

Everything has been great with Thelma. We decided to keep the same name it definitely fits her. She has the sweetest disposition. We can not believe how lucky we are to have her. She is the best pet we could have ever hoped for. She is a huge part of our family

-Marilyn

Smokey (PAWS name Marcello) is doing great. He has turned out to be a great companion for our first cat Buster (a female despite the name), which was the original
intent. Smokey is a wonderful cat & great cuddler.

-Katie

Thank you so much for helping me adopt my dog who we now call Lilly.  When she was at your facility she was called Mama Mia.  We just got back from a fabulous vacation in Naples, Florida for the holidays. She is a great flyer and enjoyed meeting the animals there. I can't thank you enough for helping me find her. She is such a blessing in my life. Here is a picture from our vacation. Lilly was sunning herself.

-Alexis

Chris and I just want to say THANK YOU!!  Everyone at the PAWS Adopt-A-Thon was so amazing from start to finish. Now we know why Emma was a staff favorite, ever since we've brought her home we have not had a boring day or a full nights sleep! She has gained 6 lbs in about 4 weeks, her colors are changing, and her personality is blooming. We couldn't be happier with our gorgeous puppy or with PAWS Chicago-thank you for changing lives and saving hearts.

-Lynda, Chris, & Emma

Thank you to all the wonderful staff and volunteers at PAWS. Digby (PAWS name Fabian) is doing great. He became an instant member of the family and we can't imagine life without him!

-Michael & Robert

Martino is doing amazing. We have renamed him Dewey, and he is an awesome dog. He is fitting in very well with our family and is the sweetest boy imaginable!

-Kevin

Sorry it took so long to return your call regarding Tiger formally known as Toodles.  Tiger is doing great.  He has gone to work with me virtually everyday and seems used to it.  He can sit and paw on command, and this week has spent 2 successful days alone and outside of his cage for 4 hours at a time unsupervised.  He is almost 100% potty trained.  Being my first dog, I have had to learn allot caring for a dog.

-Paul

It's been a year and a half with sweet Tippy (original name). She has brought much joy to our family. The sound our daughter makes calling out Teepers!, Tip tip tippers! and Tip!is magical. She fits in well with our family being just as goofy as the rest of us. She stretches out like she's 8 feet tall and curls up against her mama in bed. She loves walks although she takes her own way and snuggles up with her Wubba. Thank you , PAWS, for this special dog. We love her in our family!

Kai (PAWS name Mistletoe) has been with me for a year now and she has been a blessing. She brings a great deal of joy and excitement to my life. She is not the quiet, mild mannered cat that I visited at the shelter. She is full of life, energy and curiosity. I have never seen a cat that enjoys playing more. We have lots of fun. She is happy and healthy and I look forward to many fun filled years with her.

-Clare

Our guy Hambone (now Dewey - - we kept Hambone as his middle name!) is doing very well! We introduced him into the family of existing older dog and a kitty, and he loves them dearly. Dewey's grown double in weight and size in the short time since we brought him home; the vet says he is thriving and is obviously going to be a big boy. He has a ton of energy and personality. He is keeping us on our toes with some of his naughty puppy behavior, so we are working with him to make sure he grows to be a gentleman!  He's going to be a great dog - - very affectionate and so smart!

-Pam, Kirk and Dewey

When we first brought Guapo home, he was pretty quiet. We found that he was totally housebroken.  We found that Guapo loves to eat!  Guapo is quiet no longer. He loves to explore our condo - likes especially to chew on pens and pencils, but will give them up easily when he's caught!  He has a couple of soft plush toys he likes to carry around, and a ball he likes to have thrown for him.

We have told many people
about our PAWS experience - THANK YOU!!

-Paul and Marina

We love him and are happy Simon (PAWS name Squeekers) is a part of our home!

Thanks again!

-Andrea and Clayton

CC Cupcakes had a name change to Wrigley. She is such a smart puppy and a very sweet girl. Sean and I love taking her out for walks and playing with her. She has met a lot of other puppies at our building and made friends with them. Wrigley has been a great companion for the both of us and has made us so much happier. Thank you for the opportunity to adopt from PAWS.

-Sharon & Sean

Bear (PAWS name Sheldon) is continuing to grow, and fill out at about 10 months.  All is well.

- Liz

Everything is going very well with George! We decided to keep his name and we couldn't be happier with him. He is the most loving cat with a great personality.

-Cara and George

Fudge and Brownie (we kept the names) are doing very well in our home. They have been with us for a little over two months now, and we love having them in our home.  Fudge and Brownie are wonderful dogs and we are very happy with them.

Attached please find a picture of our boys in their winter parkas!

-Stephani & David

Things are going great with the newest addition to our family. We changed her name from Elsie Mae to Zoey. She is a great girl. The kids love her, and we love her. She has very few accidents in the house and is almost completely house trained. She is very spoiled and gets a lot of attention and love. She has gained a few
pounds and is becoming a big girl. We love her to pieces.

-Tracy.

Ruby (PAWS name Judy Nails) is an adorable puppy with a fantastic demeanor. She loves snuggling (and is the best spooner I know.  She is friendly to everyone-
both human and animal- that she meets. She is definitely a puppy but is quick to learn and eager to please. Some of Ruby's favorite things are: all of her aunts and uncles, any
type of squirrel toy and sweet potato chews. Thank you PAWS for a wonderful life addition!

- Jenny

Rico (PAWS name Ezekiel) feels right at home.  He is doing great.

- Brittinie

The cat we adopt have been great and adds so much fun into our daily life. We gave him a new name in Chinese "GouGou" (PAWS name Rumboltz) which translate to
"dog dog" because he likes playing fetch with us with one of his favorite toy.  He has been very active and always likes to play with us with different toys and his favorite toy is the feather ball teaser on a wand which drive him crazy if he can't catch it. and he follows us everywhere we go, into the kitchen, the couch, the bedroom, the bathroom.

-joey

I am a PAWS volunteer.  I took Lacey home to foster her for the following week since I was off from work. Well two weeks after I took her home, someone from PAWS
called me to start bringing her to adoption events, I said " Just send me all the papers I will be adopting her."
She spends her days lounging on my bed or on the couch and no longer wants to chew on wood. Its been 3 years now and I believe that we saved each other!

-Nancy

Meg (PAWS name Bianca) has settled into her new home and is a happy, healthy 4-month old puppy.  She's getting bigger every day, but still thinks she's a lap dog. She loves
to play hide-and-seek and tag, and she also loves her chew toys.  She's a good walker, so we're looking forward to the warmer weather. She's a great traveler, and she met a
lot of new dogs and people over the holidays.

Thank you for helping to bring Meg into our lives. She makes us smile every day, and we're thoroughly enjoying watching her grow.

-Stacy and Joe

Winston (PAWS name Tornado) is doing very well. I've
attached a picture of him - complete in his Santa outfit for the upcoming holiday season.  Winston has been a great addition to our family.

-Kelly & Scott

Carson (PAWS name Sniffles) is doing great.  He plays non-stop and entertains himself by batting a ball around the house or yard for hours on end. That is after he has had two long walks and played with friends.

-Laura and Jim

Thank you for checking in on us! We adopted Sasha last February, and she has been a wonderful addition to our family! She is so well behaved with the sweetest personality. Sasha and our Maltee-poo, Chloe have become the best of friends! Thank you so much for everything!

-Erica and Sammy

My husband and I just wanted to say hi to all the great folks over at PAWS and let them know that the latest addition to our household Doc (PAWS name Aster) is doing great! We adopted Doc (boxer/mastiff mix) this past October and couldn't be happier we did. He and "big" sis Winnie are still working out the kinks, but all in all, things are going more smoothly than we ever imagined. Doc is even learning to play nice with his other siblings, cats Martin and Abigail. We just wanted to say thanks to PAWS for making our experience such a positive one. We tell our friends and family every chance we get that if they're thinking about adopting, PAWS is the place to go!

-Vicki

So we've had Cammi (PAWS name Georgia) for 2 months now. She's fitting in with the our small family great. She starts agility class soon.  We will keep you updated with her progress.

-Debbie

Leo (PAWS name Scorpio) loves his family and loves to help make the bed!

-Elizabeth

Hello PAWS friends! This is just an update on Cheetos. We named him Roscoe, and he is doing great! He is fully housebroken now, and getting so big, we can't believe how fast he is growing. We started puppy classes a few weeks ago and although he loves to bark at all the dogs, once focused, is VERY smart. He can do a focus "look at me" for about 30 sec, the best in his class. He is also quickly learning leave it and drop it. He loves to play with a ball and fetch it is his favorite! We are so happy that we have made him part of our home and now we are a little family. Thank you so much, we are forever grateful that you took such wonderful care of him before we adopted him.

-Sarah, Joe, and Roscoe

We adopted Larry in October and he is the most loving and amazing dog we could have ever hoped for! When we got him from Paws his name was Kevin, but we call him Larry (Larry Bear).   He can sit, wait, stay, give "high fives", and roll over!  He most friendly social dog! Everyone in our condo building and on the block know him by his first name! He makes everyone smile and is so happy! We take him to the dog parks all the time (every night) and he gets to hang out with all kinds of dogs and plays very well. He also has dog friends in the condo building we live in and they go out on play dates.

-Marj, Josh, and Larry

Wags (PAWS name Nann) is affectionate and very inquisitive, although she is a little shy at first. She's quickly adjusted to life in our home, and she's a real joy.

Thank you PAWS Chicago!

-David & Darran

Milo (PAWS name Boston) is really becoming his own person, amazingly sweet, smart, affectionate, playful, silly and athletic. He's getting along well with his brother Joey and his princess sister Eleanore.  We can't imagine life without him.

Best wishes from our family to the PAWS Family!

-JoAnne, Jacqueline, Milo, Joey and Eleanore

Monique is now Raya which means stripe in Spanish because she has one white stripe on her belly.  She is very happy.

-Rose and Travis

My doggie is doing wonderfully.  Her name is Jane Eyre (PAWS name Delphinium) attached is her first Xmas pic.  Thank you so much to PAWS for bringing me this little (big) love!

-Katie

We have changed Becker's name to Dublin. He is doing well and getting big.  He has quickly become part of the family and is such a good boy.  Thank you again.

-Cullen and Jackie

We change Praline's name to Edie.  She is doing great.

-Kristie

Jake (PAWS name Geppetto) is doing wonderfully! He has grown lots and his personality is really developing. He loves ice cubes and playing in the snow although he is definitely not a fan of the rain! We took him up to Minnesota to meet his cousin (a 2 year old lab mix) for Thanksgiving and they absolutely loved each other and had a blast playing! He recently graduated from his first obedience class and learned a lot.  We are so thankful to have him in our lives and really appreciate all that you guys did for him before we got him!

-Leah

Everything is geat with our adoption. We changed E's name to Palomino. We call him Pal. He's darling.

-Jill

I have to thank you a Million times his name is no longer Kermit but Muneko he is an amazing dog.  He loves to play.  He  best thing you guys have given to us and our home !!!!!!

-Bianca

Suga (PAWS name Ashley) is very outgoing. Unck (PAWS name Bob) is very laid back from the time we got them until now, he has warmed up a lot! I have a funny story about those two.  One day, my boyfriend, our 2yr.old daughter, and myself  were going out and I was boiling a hotdog.  I decided to not finish boiling the hotdog and let it sit in the pot while we were gone.  After being away for a couple hours we came home to find the hotdog on the living room floor!...lol...we were laughing so hard!  Both kittens laying in our bed asleep.  There very fun and our daughter loves singing and playing doctor with them its adorable. We appreciate the extra excitement in our life's. Thank You Paw's

-Tiffany

A few months back we adopted Vince the puggle pup. He is now called Ritz. He is doing great.  We love him. The other dog is our lab Kita.

-mark

Enclosed are some pictures of Elanor, our 1 year old grey tabby that we recently adopted from PAWS.  She is doing very well and has adapted to her new environment very quickly. She is very playful and likes to paw and sniff everything! Everyday when we come home she likes to be pet on her back and will even meow to us if we sometimes forget; it's good to see Elanor fall into habitual activities. She gives us lots of blinks with her eyes and nestles near us when we watch TV at night.

Thank you again for allowing us to adopt Elanor, she truly is a gift that has made us very happy.

-Frank and Katie

Squirt (now Romulus) is doing great.

-Allie

We adopted Sissy in October. We changed her name to
Penelope (Penny). We love having her as part of our family. She is doing very well. She is getting along with our older cat, Pippin, very well, and is growing so fast! She loves to play, sleep under the covers, and climb (everything).

-Margaret

Our dog, which we renamed Wrigley (PAWS name Sensei) is doing well. She has adjusted to
being in our home and is warm and affectionate with us. We currently  are enrolled in obedience classes.  We've spent a lot of time with her, we take her to  a dog park/beach almost everyday, which has helped ease the transition  to our home. We think she is a great dog and a wonderful addition to  our family.

-Giselle & Joe

Here is an updated pic of our doggies. They are actually much better and getting along compared to the first days.
on left is Daisy (PAWS name Maggie) middle is the new one I had mentioned that her name was going to be Rocky Road, but I think we are changing it to Sneaky, Trouble or P.I.T.A. (PAWS name Scratchy) boy she know hows to tease them and get them fired up.  The one on the right is my baby Gunny (PAWS name Smith)!!

Thank you again for allowing us to have these beautiful dogs

-Miriam and John

Got your message wondering about how Buster (PAWS name Ben) was adjusting. All is well here.

-Sam, Emily, Lula and Buster

We have changed Brutus' name to Mr Stanley B, the B is for bulldog!  We love him.

-Melissa

Bongo is doing very well.. We haven't changed his name, but it seems to fit him well. He's not a big fan of the snow, but Eric went out and bought him a cashmere sweater the other day haha. He seems to enjoy living with us and he's been making friends in our building. He's also gotten very good at letting us know when he needs to go out, and he's perfected the art of playing catch.

-Kristen

Samson (PAWS name Reed) has settled in to his new home just fine. He has a healthy appetite and a kind heart. His temperament is superb and he is the only cat that I have come across that likes to be on his back and have his belly rubbed. His mother and I are more than pleased with our new addition.  As you can see from the picture, he is proud yet modest. Best of wishes to everyone at PAWS and happy holidays!

-Drs. Bryce Bardezbanian and Grace

Dino is doing wonderfully having recently celebrated his 1st Birthday in November! In fact, he is quite the hit wherever I take him, which is almost anywhere at this point. Dino loves playing with other dogs which is
probably why he has plenty of friends in the neighborhood and at the day care that he frequents occasionally. Dino is quite the "worker"...always ready and willing to give a helping "paw" whenever he can. Recently, we have come to learn that Dino is a huge fan of the snow.  If he could, he would play in the snow all day with his GF...a 10 month mastiff named Giana.

-John and Dino

Thank you for a wonderful dog.  As you can see Gypsie (PAWS name Teenie) is doing fabulously.  She graduated her first round of obedience school.  Gypsie is lovable, non stop kisses and she loves to cuddle.  She plays well with all the dogs in the neighborhood and they all love her.  We love our little Gypsie and thank you for rescuing her so that we were able to add her to our family.

-Rachel, Billy, and Gypsie

Life is good for Chippy (Chocolate Chip PAWS name Tabitha) and the rest of our family. She is a loving and active young cat. She is very affectionate, and is likely to curl up next to you, or lick your leg. She can also be a bit of a trouble-maker, and likes to sneak into the basement, and hop up onto the kitchen counter when we are not looking. The children adore her.  Here is a photo (finally) of Chip with one of our children, Jane. They are both in their Halloween costumes, so if you have trouble finding Chippy, she's the cat in the mouse costume! (She was such a good sport about it. We were very lucky to add this sweet cat to the family. I don't know if all cats would be as willing to put up with all of the hugging and kissing.)

-Laura

We renamed Wishbone, his name is Henry - sometimes Hank. It seems to fit him well. He and Rusty, our 4 year old Dachshund sometimes still struggle with sharing. Rusty struggles a lot more than Henry...but they are getting
along *very* well under the circumstances.  One thing they both love to share is the responsibility of monitoring the neighborhood, they always let us know if anyone dares to walk by.  I think everyone was concerned about Henry and our 4 year old cat Max getting along, but it turns out they have become fast friends. They like each other very much, they play-wrestle a lot and often nap together. Max has taken to regularly bathing Henry, as he has always done with Rusty. Max's new favorite spot is inside Henry's cage, if he can't get inside, he hangs out on top of it.

Thanks to everyone at PAWS for guiding us and taking such good care of
Henry!

-Andy & Abby

Just wanted to update you and send you a recent picture of Charlie (paws name Sloppy Joe). He is such a great addition to our family. He has a best friend Gus who is also a rescue (Gus is the big guy). He is such a cuddly guy,a liile stubborn of course must be the terrier in him. We love and adore him.

-Julie and David and Family

Everything's great! Here are some pics of Peanut with his new wardrobe.

-Karina

We adopted Pressley (PAWS name Spice) and we are in love with her. She is an amazing dog with a great personality. Pressley is only 10lbs but is best friends with a 115 lb yellow lab named Spinner. We have attached a picture of Pressley on her bed where she likes to watch what is going on outside. We have not had Pressley long, but cannot imagine our lives without her. Thank you PAWS for giving us such a wonderful addition to our family.

-Lindsey and Matt

I adopted my cat Belle a few months ago. Her new name is Dublin and we're getting along wonderfully.

-Meg

Thank you for your email regarding Starsky and Bronston.  Yes we have renamed them.  Starsky is now known as Dieudonne and Bronston is known as Alain Delon.  They now only meow in French, as we only speak French to them.  They are spoiled rotten.  Toys are lying all over our apartment.  They have a beautiful climbing tower (we call it their penthouse) and they
sleep with us every night.

-Sander and Mireille

Things are progressing pretty well so far in the Wilson household. Pepsi makes an interesting addition to the family. She is very playful in the mornings just after her first feeding.  She loves to be around us.  We haven't changed her name; Pepsi is a cute name for a cat. She's well cared for and very healthy and happy.

-The Wilsons

Thanks for writing and showing that Siren is still cared about over at PAWS! Siren is doing absolutely wonderful. Since having a loving home, I can't even tell you how beautiful she has gotten. She is the biggest lover and actually has her own stuffed animal that she sleeps and naps with! She loves to play and is just full of personality. She likes to sleep under the covers and finds the oddest things to make her toy. Instead of ever using her scratching post, she prefers to use our door mats to scratch and stretch on. Another funny thing about her is that she doesn't have a meow! She opens her mouth to meow but nothing comes out..its a whisper!

-Roslanna

Samwise (PAWS name Juanito) is doing very well with my "pack". These pictures show him playing with one of the Papillons.  A great addition to the family!

-Sharon

I named my cat O'Malley (PAWS name Mufasa) and he is doing so well!  He is by far the most lovely cat I have ever owned! From the moment I brought him home he
jumped on my bed and wanted to snuggle. He loves the play with his cat nip toy mice I bought him, and his favorite thing is to sleep on my bed next to the window in the sun.

-Alix

I adopted my dog Kasha from you guys a while back. Kasha is doing very well.

-Michelle

Annabelle (PAWS name Cherry) is doing great! She has a ton of energy and she is really smart. Recently she has been enjoying running around in the snow. She has made a whole lot of friends at the dog park, too.  I will bring Annabelle by sometime for a visit!

-Joshua

Cash (PAWS name Chris) is the Greatest DOG in the world!

-Trish

Just wanted to send the final update on our two kittens, Eoghan (PAWS name Ollie) and Emmet (PAWS name Gulliver).  We love them and they, clearly, love each
other.  Thanks for matching us up with these two wonderful creatures!

-Kathleen

Totie has been renamed 'Edna St. Vincent Miallo', in
honor of her poetic, bohemian spirit. Miss Edna loves chasing toy mice, playing with colored tissue paper, curling up in her doughnut bed on Mom's desk, playing with her uncles (who dote on her), racing up and down
the stairs, and having her tummy rubbed.  Miss Edna is sweeter than a pot of honey and as chatty as can be. I love her to pieces and we both thank you warmly for bringing the two of us together. We look forward to many long years of
companionship.

-Rebecca

Jerry is doing great. The two cats are getting along just fine, they cuddle and clean eachother all the time. They constantly play and run around the apartment and keep each other company while we are in class or at work. Jerry has made the perfect addition to our small family.
Thanks for everything.

-Patty

Everything is great here with Avery (PAWS name Areli). She's a rambunctious young kitten and we love her.

-Kayleigh

I wanted to give you an update on Pierre (PAWS name Snowball). He is doing really well. He still has as much energy as ever and seems very happy. I have hired a dog walker for a couple of days a week, while I am at work. He is always following me everywhere and loves to cuddle. And he also loves to play with toys.  I am
really happy to have him.

-Karin

I am writing PAWS to let you know that Pierre is doing fantastic. I renamed him to George Jetson.  George sleeps all day until I come home then he will wait until am settled and then give me a 5 minute warning meow to let me know that he is ready for some laser light action. He is very affectionate, well demanding affection is more par for the course. He loves to be petted and brushed. That is what we do together when we watch Scrubs on TV.  Couldn't ask for a better alarm clock. At 5am he is ready to get his morning lovin' and will wake me up for it. My alarm clock goes off at 530 am. IT is nice to pet George as I am waking up.  Everyday George is making the house his and getting more confidence. I love him.

-George's Dad Kyle

Everyone is happy and healthy. Jackson and Jameson (PAWS name Markus) are best buddies now. He is still very kittenish and he gives Jackson a great workout. he's a sweet addition to the family.

-Jessica

We changed Dirby's name to Crosby and he is doing great. Thanks again for all your help.

-Shelly

I wanted to follow up with you on Dexter (PAWS name Reggie).  He is absolutely awesome. I love him so much and cannot imagine my life without him. He is hilarious and wakes me up every morning with his cute face sniffing mine. Then he rolls on his back and will not go out to potty until I rub his belly :) It's great, and I love him very much.  Dexter is enjoying his very first winter, and he loves playing in the snow. He's been a ball and I'm so happy that we were matched, and that he in turn, adopted me!

-Lindsay

Thank you very much for connecting us with the newest member of our family, Napoleon (PAWS name Taco)! Our previously adopted son Prince (PAWS name Bullseye) is enjoying walks and playing with his new brother. We cannot describe in words how thankful we are to not only have two beautiful puppies in our family now, but to also share in the times we get to see them play, eat, and cuddle together!

-Aleem & Erik

Toby's (PAWS name Toto) doing really well. He spends a lot of time with me (as I work at home) and seems really content. He loves all the other dogs at the dog park. I've had  so many people tell me they are in love with my dog; he's so sweet, just the right amount of affection and independence. I'm so glad he
came into my life.

-Jeffrey

Thank you for inquiring about our kittens, Rose and Stabby (PAWS names Mabel and Mollie).  They've adapted wonderfully, and my fiancee and I are so grateful to have
them as part of our family.  Stabby is definitely the loudest of the household. We always know when dinner is, because she's prompt to tell us.  She loves to run around and hunt shadows, but always has time to curl up on our laps and fall asleep.  Rose is the biggest cuddler in the world! She loves to lay over our shoulders and just let us walk around with her. She also loves to play in the shower right after it's been used and swish the water around.  Rose is the long hair, and Stabby is the short hair.

~Sammi and Rob

Miss Scarlett has changed to Daisy. The best part of my day is walking up the stairs to my apartment and hearing her bells as she runs to the door. And like clockwork the door swings open and is sitting there meowing a hello. She is the friendliest cat I have ever known. She has no qualms about meeting a new person and laying across their lap demanding a belly
rub.  Thanks PAWS!

-Beth

Here is another update on Chloe (PAWS name Curly). She continues to be a such a wonderful little dog. We all love her so much. She is terrific with our three grandchildren. Chloe recently finished dog obedience school.

Thanks so much for helping us get Chloe,

-Greg and Gloria

Tessie (PAWS name Galena) is doing great and she is truly a joy to have. Coming home to her and having her looking out the window waiting for me is the best!

-Samantha

Everything is going well with Rambo (PAWS name Bubba), he is a wonderful cat very loving and playful. The kids adore him a lot. He is healthy and he likes FOOD !!  I included a recent picture with our 5 year old son and his adorable friend.

-Albulescu Family

Just thought I would let you all know that Odie, formerly known as Dannon while at PAWS, is doing great. He has blended into our family and is a perfect fit. We love him and so does everyone else that meets him. Thank you for helping bring Odie into our lives.

-Sue

My cat is utterly fabulous!! I'm in LOVE with her. I've renamed her Stella (PAWS name Daisy).  She's very happy and healthy.  Thank you so much! She makes me very happy.

-Taryn

Here is a picture of our baby Gene (PAWS name Moe), with his big brother in one of their
favorite places.  Gene follows my husband around the house and talks to him constantly.  He is very vocal and doesn't hesitate to let us know when he needs food, can't find his brother, or just wants attention. He also spent many summer days in our kitchen window talking to the neighbors outdoor cats. He loves
to play fetch and will bring us small toys to throw or just chase his brother around for fun. He has grown into a very sweet, loving and playful cat. I'm so glad we found him.

-Gina

Siena (PAWS name Paisley) is doing great, we love her! She just went on her first big trip with us to Minnesota for Thanksgiving. She did great in the car and played well with all the relatives. :) She also loves to play in the park with her pals, Poncho and Phoebe, and chew on bones.

-Sharon and Andy

My pet is a sweetheart. His name is Lewis (PAWS name Higgins).  He is getting huge. He loves attention and has to be right next to me at all times.  When my parents visit they always want to take him home.

-Rex and Lewis

 Champ is doing fantastic!

-Alex

Hi there! Just sending you a few pictures to update you on Oliver's (PAWS name Mr. Jay) transition into his new home. He has been with me for 4 weeks as of today...he is an absolute joy...such a loving little guy...and he is pretty smart, to boot! I am so thankful to PAWS for rescuing him giving him a new lease on life, and giving the two of us the opportunity to 'find each other.

- Melissa and Ollie

We adopted Bella back in August of 2008. She is a beautiful, ENERGETIC, fun, family friendly Beagle puppy. We never had a puppy before so the whole "house training" thing is new. (And not going great, but... we'll get there).

-A happy family
Bella and the Murphy's

I just wanted to let you know that Riley has been doing very well and has adapted nicely to his new home. He is quite the lap cat and also very playful (he loves to steal pens from my hand while I am writing). He also
enjoys following me around and chatting about his day when I get home from work. Thank you for running such a wonderful organization and helping me find Riley!

-Stephanie

Formerly Wild Child, Izzy (short for Isolde, it means 'beautiful' in Celtic) is loving her new home! She is such a sweetheart and loves to cuddle.  She is quite the little investigator now!  She has become very playful and is not as shy as before.  I am so happy to have given Izzy her forever home. Thanks for all of your help!

-Katie

Life with our new puppy has been a wonderful experience so far!  We renamed Barney and he now goes by the name Boomer.  He is the cutest dog... I get stopped on the street every time I take him out. He's getting so big...doubled in size since the day we brought him home.  He now weighs 43 lbs.  Keelan and I tell everyone where we adopt! ed Boomer...including how nice the facility is, but especially the friendly and helpful service we've received from the staff at PAWS.

-Matt & Keelan

Lilly (PAWS name Kerry) is doing very well and absolutely adores Addison, the cat Lilly was adopted to befriend. The two are literally inseparable. She is finally coming out of her shell and has become quite the affectionate kitty. She's still a bit shy around strange people, but she seems to be coming around.

-Jennifer

We found our match at PAWS!  Shasta (PAWS name PC=Pretty Cute) has really perked up. She's friendly & loves attention, plays hard but gently, likes long walks (sniffing non-stop), sleeps-in whenever we do, likes her crate, listens to commands (unless there's a squirrel around), has learned to chew raw-hides from watching a friend's dog and incredibly, she hardly sheds! She's also the prettiest pup around.  We're proud, happy parents.

-Michelle

Kaya (PAWS name Frisky) is a sweetie and we're both doing well. She's adapted to my home and is quite the spoiled pet. She is friendly and outgoing and her favorite thing is to roll over and have her belly scratched. Everyone who meets her agrees she is a wonderful dog!!

- Laura

Oliver, (PAWS name Crosby) is doing great. He is super rambunctious and incredibly smart. Oliver loves to play with other dogs and enjoys being chased as he outruns everyone he meets. He is a sweet sweet boy and we are grateful to have him.

Thanks Paws!

-Lisa & Jonathan

Zeus (PAWS name Peewee) is doing GREAT!!!   We really love him and he has lots of character.

-Jim & Mandy

We are so happy to say that Sadie (PAWS name Harah) is definitely fitting into our family perfectly and we can't imagine life without her anymore!   She loves going on her daily runs with my husband and then
coming home to pass out. Recently she's learned to enjoy the pleasure of sleeping in front of the
fireplace :-)

We love her tremendously and think you made a great match!

-Carrington

Gus (PAWS name Coonie) is a great cat.

- Amy

Jack has adjusted well into his new home. He thinks his older sister, Kiara, is the coolest. He is so loving to anyone who walks through the door. He lays as close as possible to me no matter where I am.  He likes to sit in his cat tree and watch birds fly by the sliding glass door. Jack is also neighbors with a President, although he doesn't seemed to concerned. I can tell by the look in his eyes that's he's happy to be in such a loving
home.

-Sandra

Thanks for checking in on Alfredo. He and my older cat spend most of their time playing together or licking each other. His kitten energy definitely has livened up my 5 year
old cat. He's a very big snuggler too and wakes me up every morning with licks and love bites. His new name is Fred in honor of Alfredo. Thank you for rescuing him and allowing me to foster such a sweet little kitty. He's the best addition to our family.

-Mica

We adopted Doodles, his new name is Cooper and he is so fun to have in our home!  He's learning quickly and can already sit, lay down and come!   We're having a great time and we're so glad we decided to adopt. We
can't express how grateful we are that you rescued Cooper and his littermates. Thank you for introducing us to our newest family member!

-Amanda, Brian and Cooper

Thanks for the follow up on Sammie (PAWS name Samantha). She is doing great, getting big. She really is a great dog with a wonderful temperament. I think she is the cutest dog ever. I might be biased though.

- Mike

Bella (PAWS name Pepper) is doing well.  She is now sleeping in bed with me (I think she got cold on the floor on her comforter) so she cuddles with me all the time now! She is eating well, playing and more comfortable with me. She loves going on long walks even now that it is getting colder... she just can't get enough!  She always smiles when we play and when we are about to go out for walks!

-Yasmine & Bella

We have, finally, had a few minutes to give everyone an update on our wonderful edition to our family, from your family, Jabba (PAWS name Java) The Mutt.  Jabba has acclimated himself to us so well!! And even through some of the challenges he has had in the recent months (we moved a few months ago from Chicago to Houston, Texas) he has mastered them all with such gusto. He is a Super Dog!!  The new location has proven to be soo good for him; he now has 2 large fields to play in and LOVES to play fetch with his favorite toy (tennis ball) out there for hours!!  His curmudgeon ways have lessened and he has grown into a crazy old man with a heart and soul of a young pup.

We want to thank PAWS for providing such a great oasis for all of the dogs out there that are in need of a home. I only hope that every city will be lucky enough to have a PAWS so no more puppies and cats will have to endure being homeless. You really do have a profound difference in
the world; our family wouldn't be the same without Jabba.

Thanks so much!! We could never repay you.

-Sarah, Tony, and Jabba The Mutt

We just wanted to let you know that Leila is doing great and is receiving lots of love here in her family.  My daughters and I look forward to coming by in the future to sign up for volunteer work.

- The Tharpe Family

Sending update on (PAWS name Betsy) Lady Betsy Ming Mei. She was my joy the moment I saw her and the strings she pulls in my heart are stronger today then the day I adopted her. The moment she saw my hairless cat, Your Majesty Ming Lee Mogwai, she blinked twice trying to figure her out, sniffed, and been best friends since. Lady Betsy is super smart too, she was potty trained in 2 days, learned to sit and roll over in one day. Here is a picture of both my pride and joy's of my life.

 - Veronica

Everything is great with Lottie (PAWS name Milla)!

She passed her training class with flying colors.

On days when we won't be home for an extended period of time she makes sales
calls with me and visits her Uncle Farley and Aunt Gracy (my parents two dogs).

-Drew

Kona (PAWS name Egypt) is doing great! Loving her home and we are loving her.

- Julianne

Luna (now goes by DeZilla because she meows like godzilla) is great she has completely adapted and become buddies with my 10 year old Border Collie.  She is a little blessing to me.

- Erica

Talluah is now known as Holly Golightly. She is doing great! We are living in Grand Rapids, MI for work.  Holly loves fish flavored food and is very feisty.

- Jessica

Bear (PAWS name Montgomery) is doing just great. I have attached a picture of him so you can see how happy he is. We really love this dog and feel very lucky to have him in our lives.

-Liz

Bella (PAWS name Mitzie) is doing absolutely wonderful! I cannot believe we have had her 5 months already! We did the PAWS walk/run back on Sept 28 and had a
great time. We also did the DNA test and just found
out that Bella is part German Shepard and Saluki which is a wonderful combination! We are enjoying her puppy hood.

Thank you for all you do for these wonderful animals!

-
Annie

Izzie (PAWS name Janet) is very sweet and loving. She always follows me around the apartment.  She curls up on the bathroom rug while I shower and shares a pillow with me when we sleep.  Everyone who has met her agrees and say that she is the friendliest cat they've ever met! She is simply adorable.

- Elizabeth

Veggie (PAWS name Baby) is doing just fine, and we're very happy.

- Ben

Doc is awesome. I love him so much.

-Sarah

We are the proud owner's of Maisy (PAWS name Meg). She is a very good 11 month old puppy. She loves to play with anyone that walks into our house. She loves having our 4 kids around. She loves to play fetch and loves going for runs or loves to run with you when your biking. She is a joy and feel very blessed to have her as a member of our family. She gets bigger and bigger each week.

- Joy

We've been trying to get Lilo accustomed to wearing his cheesy holiday sweater so he will sit still in pictures when the time comes (hey, I had to wear my snowflake sweater for 4 years...).

Other than that, business as usual for Jackson. We've been very pleased with him and he's made everyone he's come across into a bona fide cat lover.

- Mike

Let me tell you, that Lucy has stolen our hearts. Some nights instead of going out we stay home just to be with Lucy. My boyfriend said yesterday, " I never realized how much love an animal could bring to someone. " She has adapted to her new home so well. She already knows that when my alarm goes off in the morning and I don't wake up or keep pressing snooze, she comes in the room and taps on me every few minutes to get me up for work.  She has a toy mouse that she loves to attack and sometimes even plays with it so crazy that the mouse is flying across the room. She even knows the exact sound the laser makes when you touch it or pick it up. Lucy drops everything she is doing and will wait until you turn the laser on.  Everything she does is so adorable, playful and fun. I can't get enough of that little girl. Thank you very much and we look forward to finding her a playmate soon!

- Laura & Justin

Just a quick note to let y'all at PAWS know about Merlin. He is such a nice fit for our family.  He is such a little cuddly bunny and so patient and loving toward the kids. They adore him.

Thanks for taking care of him until he came home!!

-The Chetkovich family

The dog I adopted is great, I didn't changer her name Star we decided not to change it because that's a perfect name for her, she's such a star.  Everyone in the family loves her she's really sweet and polite. She loves our kids and is  mostly trained. She was the perfect addition to our family and we were so lucky to find her at PAWS.

- Jocelyn

Hi PAWS!! I just wanted to give you an update on Ralphie and Randy (PAWS names Merlin and Maddux)! They are the greatest. They play together incredibly well, and are great cuddle buddies! Thank you so much for bringing them into my life!

- Kate

Cloe is maturing quite nicely and has been through two obedience classes.  She is an amazing dog and I consider myself a lucky person for finding her.  She has little brother a 7 week old Haveneese.  They are inseparable
despite their size difference. It was a lot of work to get to where they are.  The other picture is of Cloe in a tent. We
go camping often and she really loves the forest atmosphere. I get her out
to the sticks as much as possible...

In August My boyfriend and I adopted Rabbit. He has brought so much happiness to our home! He has truly been amazing and we are so glad that we made the decision to bring him into our family.  This dog has so much energy, he is the biggest lover in the world! He can never seem to be close enough to us.  He also has a sister, our cat Izzy. They are hilarious together and get along very well. We find her sleeping in his cage
or on his dog bed and he just lets her, its really sweet. We just wanted to let all of you at PAWS know that Roger found a very good home with us and he
definitely has us wrapped around his paws!!!

- Michael and Chrissy

All is going real well with Maxie (PAWS name Hopie), she has had a great summer and really brought great joy to my life. A very active dog and loves people and really enjoys her play time with other dogs. We have rescued another dog this week and will be picking her up this weekend!
I willl have my hands full but really looking forward to it.
Again thanks for the great work you do and bringing Maxie into my world!

- Joe

We adopted (PAWS name Tommy), renamed to Jazz Mango, in September. We love him so much! He was nervous at first but it only took him three days to get adjusted to his new home.

- Heidi

Thank you for checking in on Penelope (PAWS name Luna). Everything is going well. She seems very happy and quite active.

- Abby

Wrigley (PAWS name Von) goes to work with me every day and participates in morning rounds. Working with the elderly, he has to be careful not to knock them over when he gets excited but they all love him and he gets petted all day! There are also lots of treats! He has completed training and will soon start an agility class. Wrigley can fly so we really want to get him a cape!

- Dane and Angela

Murphy is great! He has really adapted to our home and family very well. He is cheerful, playful and loving. He loves to go on walks, play in our backyard with his new doggie friends and snuggle. He is such an important part of our family and we tell him so everyday. We can't imagine our lives before Murphy. Thank you for bringing us together!

 - Katie & Megan

Charlotte is doing just fine! She is well loved and cared for. She has a strong attachment to me and the family is jealous and say that she is a spoiled baby! But I love my baby and she is just like one of my real children!

- Brenda

Rapunzel seems to be doing very well. She has devoured one of the bones we bought her. We're all enjoying her very much; she's very affectionate and wants lots of love, which we're all happy to provide. My other two dogs are getting to know her and the cat has ignored her so far as I thought he would. I think she's smart too as she is starting to get the hang of "sit" (of course the sausages help!)

- Carol

We are doing absolutely wonderful with the new addition in our family. Max (PAWS name Elvin) is Daddy's best friend and our 9 year old cat's favorite playmate. Hilarious! Of course he is still a little nervous when we leave him, but he is learning that we will be back soon. Such a good dog! He loves to go on runs with his mama although we have to take a break to play with the other dogs at his favorite dog park. From day one he snuggled up in bed between us and now every night he sleeps there while the cat sleeps on my head! I'm asking for a queen size mattress for Christmas. Hope everything is great at PAWS!!! We really appreciate the gift you gave us!!!

- Ashleigh

I am the proud owner of Maxwell, one of your Waveland rescue dogs from Mississippi. Initially, Maxwell was quite timid and scared. He did not want me away from him. Things are way different now! Maxwell spends lots and lots of time outside on walks, has a BUNCH of doggie friends in the neighborhood, spends time upstairs with my 70 year old mother, downstairs with my sister and loves his new home! Maxwell is one of the sweetest animals I've ever been around. I'm convinced he may have been abused or neglected at one time because he sure has responded well to lots of love and affection. He's healthy, well-adjusted and I kept his name but he is known around here as Maxie or Maxuelo.. (his Spanish name) and of course... just plain old Max. Thanks for all your help in this adoption process. We both are very grateful to all of you at PAWS!

- Lenny

Dear PAWS, Squeak (PAWS name Squeek) is doing great. She sleeps on the pillow next to me every night. I fall asleep with her purring in my face and smacking me with her tail. It's a little sappy, but it's absolutely adorable. I really couldn't ask for a better kitty! Everyone who meets her comments on how lovable she is. She still doesn't like being held but she head butts everyone! I hope my renter's insurance covers broken noses due to excessive kitty affection...She's a beautiful cat but not very photogenic. She blinks in every picture and if her eyes aren't closed, the flash makes her look like a scary kitty. Keep up the good work PAWS! You guys rock!

- Patti

I adopted Aretha (PAWS name Viola). She is doing really well and is exactly what I was looking for! When we first brought her home we were a little afraid of how she would adjust to the new scenery...and the dog. Despite all the warnings about how she may hide for a while and be scared and hate the dog...etc. She did none of those things and adjusted almost immediately. While at PAWS, I said I wanted a cat who was playful but also cuddly..she is exactly that; a little crazy, but cuddles with me every night! She even lets me clip her claws without squirming its amazing. I've attached a picture of how she likes to help me while I'm on the computer. We make regular vet visits and she is in great health! Thanks for everything!

- Mary

Callie (PAWS name Kiwi) is doing well. She is a very hyper active dog and has pretty much drained every last ounce of energy from me! She starts training school soon and loves to play well with other dogs when we go to the dog park.

 - JoAnna

Thanks for checking on Wynston. He is doing well. He is a lively boy that loves to pick on his older sister. He is very cuddly and loves all the attention to be on him. I have attached his picture doing his second favorite thing, which is sleeping!  Thanks.

- Ashley

I have changed my puppy's name to Samy(PAWS name Kirby). Everything is going well. Samy is growing like a weed. At his visit to the Vet last week, he weighed 28.5 pounds. They estimate that he will be in the 50's. We got together with his PAWS siblings in Lincoln Park and it seems as if they remembered each other. Thank you for a positive experience with adopting. I highly recommend it to everyone!

- Cheryl

The adoption for Meli (PAWS name Pebbles) has gone really well, I think my boyfriend is in love! He hasn't had a dog in a long time and didn't get to play with my other dog since he was a puppy. I changed her name to Meli because it means honey in Greek. Meli and my first dog (Cody) get along really well and play all the time. Thanks a lot!

- Liz

Jeremy and I adopted Chai (PAWS name Chandler) He's such a sweet little guy who loves to be on our laps and makes friends with everybody he meets. When we first got him he was pretty timid but he's been getting bolder by the day. Chai is so smart, too! He loves to go for walks, especially to try to spot any squirrels. Most of all, Chai just loves to be loved. Chai has made our first apartment as a married couple feel like a real home. He brings such energy and warmth to our lives and we are so very happy to have him with us. Thank you very much!                                                       Erin & Jeremy

Dear PAWS! Lucy (PAWS name Agatha) is doing great! She's adapted well and loves living with me, my roommate and her feline partner-in-crime, Steve. She loves to play and has two favorite toys: a scrunchie from circa 1985 and a stick that used to have feathers on the end of it which have since fallen off. She acts more like a dog because she loves to play fetch with those toys. She'll even drop them at my feet! Sometimes when my alarm clock goes off in the morning, she's already sitting on my bed, looking at me with her two toys on the side, waiting for me to toss them. Lucy is also a chatterbox and loves to have conversations with anyone who will meow back to her. She purrs like crazy after being pet for 5 seconds. Lucy is my best friend and I'm so glad I adopted her. Thanks!

- Christina

Saul (PAWS name Sal) is doing great. He's been with us just about 2 years now and it just keeps getting better. Here's a picture of him in his Halloween costume. Thanks PAWS!

- Jasmine & Adam

Just wanted to let you know that Teddy (PAWS name Patrick) is doing GREAT!!! We are so happy because he is adorable!! Thanks again for the opportunity to adopt such a wonderful kitten!!!

  - Matt & Anna

Dizzy Miss Lizzy (PAWS name Red Foxx) is doing quite well. She's been excelling in puppy classes and looks very little like a puppy anymore--she's growing by leaps and bounds. Still, she's full of puppy energy and can't get enough of her rawhide and kongs. She's even recently become interested in playing fetch with a tennis ball, which she does quite well. She's very well behaved, besides the jumping up on people when she's excited--we're working on it. We have two nicknames for her: when she's sweet and loving, we call her our "Angel Baby"; but when she's rough and wild, we call her our "Devil Dog." Either way, we couldn't be more in love with her.

- Nicole & Jay

Hi! I'm just writing to let you know that Ike (PAWS name Jake) is loving Chicago. We go out on two or three walks each day meeting new friends both 2-legged and 4-legged! He's currently learning how to be the world's best-trained puppy via K9 University. He's got a great temper and is infinitely playful. Ike was an 8 week old black Lab/St. Bernard mix when he was at PAWS and whilst he was only there for a day or so, he's grateful to everyone there for giving him a loving environment in which to stay before he moved in with me. The picture is of his first family reunion since I exchanged information as we all adopted at roughly the same time. Ike had fun playing with his brother and sister!

Thanks for all the work you do!

- Dan

Just a follow up since I adopted my kitten. Minion (PAWS name Heartthrob) has adjusted to our home and with our other cat Taboo. He is a little Monster and rules the roost! He had his checkup at the assigned vet clinic and is up to date on his shots.

- Marc

I thought you might enjoy some pictures of our little Lily Bean. Sugar is such a great cousin to her and is way passed the jealousy. They are total buddies now and Sugar is her mother hen. She's the joy of our family! Her coat grew in so healthy and beautiful and she's now a whole 4 pounds, such a big girl! Thanks for everything!

- Laura

We wanted to let you know all is well with Comiskey (PAWS name Bones). We think he has found a great home and we love him dearly. Thanks for helping us find him!!

 - Eric

Just wanted to let you know that we are extremely happy with our cat we adopted at PAWS. We renamed him Oscar Michael (PAWS name Macaroni) and he is the best cat I have ever encountered. Every night he splits up his time sleeping between me and my two other roommates. It is so adorable! We are so happy that we adopted him, he adds more life and love to our house. Thank you very much. I have attached a picture of him so you can see how much he has grown.

- Isabelle

My partner and I adopted Dexter (PAWS name Nemo). Dexter is an amazing dog and has made our house into a home. He is loved and known by everyone in the neighborhood. I take him to work with me a few times a week and the days he is home we have a dog walker come twice a day. Dexter has brought so much joy to our lives and everyone he meets. We feel extremely blessed to have him as part of our family. Thank you!

 - Daniel and David

Zoila (PAWS name Raven) that I adopted from PAWS is doing well! I've attached a picture of my roommate and I with Zoila so you can see how well she is!

- Courtney

Snickers (PAWS name Pippie) is doing very well and has become a cherished member of our family. We love her - she's so cute and everyone who meets her loves her, too! Here are a couple of pictures for you.

- Gary

I'd love to give you an update on Maxwell (PAWS Name Curly). He is the most adorable cat and has settled in very well. He is very cuddly and affectionate and loves to get involved in everything - including laundry, carving pumpkins and bath time! He went to the vet for a check-up just last week and he's doing just fine. Thanks for all your good work!

- Kay

I just wanted to let you know that Clementine (PAWS name Molly) is doing famously! Every dog Clementine meets is a friend, so no walk is done in a hurry. :) She frequents Puptown at Lawrence and Marine to wear off some of her energy (and of course play with dogs). Clementine passed obedience 101 and 102 and we discovered there wasn't really much to overcome. DOWN is a sticking point, but we're working on it, and with everything else, she does very well. We're really happy to have Clementine and her dog craziness makes us think we'll have to get her a little companion next spring.

- David and Gail

Chance (PAWS name Herbie) is doing great! He is halfway through his obedience class and learning a lot! He is the most friendly dog and everyone he meets always comments on how nice he is. He loves people, other dogs and kids.  We absolutely love him! Thank you for a wonderful dog!

 - Stacy and Ryan

Our little Beagle mix, Teddy (PAWS name Chester) has added a great deal of excitement and energy to our lives. He is brown and white and very soft and cuddly when he is not running everywhere. My husband and I consider him our "work out program". There was a sign on his room at PAWS that said "escape artist" and he has really lived up to the title. He engineered his way out of two wire crates destroying them in the process. He has developed a small hole in the molded plastic crate we now use so we are watching that closely. Teddy is great with our grandchildren as long as they keep their toys away from him since anything is fair game. Teddy also loves other dogs. A family two blocks away have two beagles and so they get together for joint runs in the backyard. They have a great time. We start basic obedience training with him next week. I'm sure he'll love the other dogs but he might not like following the rules. It will be an adventure for all!

Thanks so much for all your help and support.

 - Deane

We adopted Winston (PAWS name Albert) and we couldn't ask for a more lovable and fun cat! He is really a joy to have around and an entertainment to watch (he loves taking hair ties and hiding them under the rugs then crawling under the rug to get them out and doing it all over again!). We are glad we found him when we did! Thanks!

  - Kathleen and Josh

Karma (PAWS name Calista) seemed an appropriate name for her since I signed up to foster her while her broken leg was healing but after less than 24 hours I decided to adopt her! She is doing very well and has charmed friends, family and neighbors. She loves playing with other dogs at the park. She has brought unimaginable joy to my life. Thank you!

- Laurel

Hi there! Minnie (PAWS name Meggie) is doing wonderful! We have been participating in Puppy class and she is loving every minute of it! Potty training is going well, no accidents in the last two and a half weeks and she can sit and stay and come when she is called well some of the time... as long as there is nothing more interesting going on elsewhere! She is one of the friendliest dogs I have ever met and seems to crave constant attention from everyone around her. Thanks for everything.

- Craig

Lily (PAWS name Sissy) is doing great! She started out as a shy girl and was very scared every time we left the house without her. But after a month with us she's settling in nicely and is starting to understand that she's finally home! She is such a joy for us - a huge snuggler - and is even pretty sweet to the cat (though I can't always say the same for him!). We love going for walks and to the beach and she always meets new friends along the way...people always comment on how beautiful she is or how much she looks like a polar bear. Both are true! Thanks PAWS!

- Jill

Hi! I have great new for you. Toby (PAWS name PJ) is a great puppy! He likes to go out for walks has lots of toys because everyone in our family loves him so much. he is very happy in his new home so thank you for the great work you do to make great things like this happen!

- Fher

Sophie (PAWS name Sterling) looks so content! She does like to indulge in playful biting but we have done some research and have tried ignoring, walking away and not using out hands as "toys" when playing with her. It is tough when she bites us as we lay in bed. At that point we are not going to walk away but ignore her and try to go back to sleep!

- Angela and Bob

Here is a photo of my adopted Chihuahua Lucky Louie (PAWS name Life). We are madly in love and will be starting classes soon! Thanks to everyone at PAWS who made it possible for me to get this delightful pooch!

 - Leslie

Kenadee (PAWS name Penelope) is doing great! She has the best disposition and just gets sweeter every day. We started puppy class with K9 University 3 weeks ago and she is such a star! She is a very good listener and is taking to the training very well. We love to take her to the park and on walks around the neighborhood. She loves to explore the outdoors and sniff everything. :) Kenadee is definitely a snuggler and when we are sitting on the floor, she is right between us cuddling up. We love having Kenadee - everyday is an adventure with her and we are so lucky to have found her at PAWS. Thanks for all you do!

- Jenny & Steve

Wrigley (PAWS name Buster) had a little kennel cough when he got home but we went to the nice Vet at the VCA in Joliet and got medication. Wrigley enjoys all the nice  smells on kitchen counters, car rides, long walks and treats! After all his exercise he gets pretty tired!

- Jim

Hello! Shah (PAWS name Denver) is doing very well. He is the king of the house and we think he likes it. Adopting him was the best thing we ever did. He has brought so much fun and joy into our lives!

 - Lina & Ivo

EVERYTHING IS GREAT. His name is now Bear (PAWS name Sheldon)...he is wonderful. See picture attached. This picture says it all!

- Liz

Higgins is great, or rather, Lewis. He is getting big fast and likes to play with everything but the toys I buy him.

- Rex

Baron Spike von Maybach "Spikey" (PAWS name Charles) was adopted from the Clark Street location in August 2007.  Baron Spikey has two sisters, Vigga (PAWS -Romana) and Diana...that were equally as adorable. Pictured at 1 year of age, this Maine Coon kitten continues to grow into a very handsome young man, full of energy, curiosity, and gives his mature brother, Royce, a run for his money each day.
Spikey has been a great addition to the family!
Thank you PAWS for all you do

- Sonia

We absolutely LOVE Ozzie & Oscar. They adapted quite quickly to our home & were sleeping with us by the second night! Oscar likes to curl up in the crook of my knees! Ozzie likes to lay across our necks! Strange, but true! We feel so lucky to have them. They are the perfect match for us. They are mellow, but curious & very loving. We have kept their names & they are used to them & they are great cat names!

- Melissa Yen

Leslie is now Pumpkin. She is doing really well. She is very lovable and sleeps with me every night! I have attached a picture of her doing one of her favorite things!

- Lauren

Things are going really well with Bones (Patch's new name). He is a very sweet dog; in fact, he thinks he's a lap dog! He is full of energy--he loves to run at top speed around the back yard and play in our girls' play house. He also loves to play fetch. He keeps us active. He and his sister (Teyla) get along very well. They chase each other around the backyard and they sit together in the yard and watch the birds and squirrels almost as if they are mesmerized. We feel so lucky!

- Ben

John & I proudly adopted Tag . We took him home & he has been purring ever since!  We lovingly call him Sinbad. It is a Persian name & his favorite place to rest is by the window over-looking the city on his Persian pillow :)  He enjoys meowing loudly, eating, sleeping on our heads,  and pouncing around on the down comforter.

Thank you PAWS for such a wonderful feline adoption :)

With love,

Julie & John

Since adopting Baby and Samson, two boxers, we have had so much fun! I had changed Baby's name to Molly-she seems to be enjoying it. I am so happy I adopted these two boxers, they are wonderful dogs and I couldn't have asked for anything better. They make my day and we always seem to be smiling around each other.  Thank you so much for bringing Samson, Molly, and I together - I love them so much.

- Stephanie

I adopted Leo (PAWS name Hershey) back in October of 2003. My sister and I met him with his foster dad walking on Armitage so needless to say, my shopping trip was successful that day! I cannot believe that he is already turning 5; not that he acts it. We get a 'lecture' every time we come home letting us know that it was not acceptable to leave him. I'm hoping to add another to our family, but I have yet to convince Leo's dad (i.e. the walker). Thanks again!

- Alison

Here is a photo of Nikki (formerly Adriana) we adopted from PAWS last year. Our many, many thanks to all of you and your efforts for your rescue and adoption services. She is an enormously important part of our lives and is thriving.

Sincerely,

John Wahlund

I just want to give you an update on Max (PAWS name Ponch). We finished our second training session Intermediate Obedience at K9 University and Max passed the Canine Good Citizen (CGC) program from the American Kennel Club. Something both of us are proud of (Max too).

Max has settled into our house quite well. When he isn't playing catch he will take a break and lay in the sun. Loves to go for walks everyday.

Thanks again!

Kathy & Loretta Henry

After being in various foster homes for 5 years in the PAWS foster program, I adopted Petey. I am grateful to PAWS for caring for FeLeuk cats for however long it takes. Petey is a kind, affectionate, quirky, funny boy and he is proof that "sick" cats are no different than "normal" cats. We are very happy together and I can't imagine him anywhere else but with me. Now I just have to work on getting a bigger place so Petey can have a FeLeuk buddy!

Lea

Diamond is doing very well. Diamond has been a wonderful addition to our home. I have attached a couple of recent pictures of her in her "gear." Take care.

Sincerely,

Dan Barba

Carlee (PAWS name Miley) is certainly a gift.  She goes on a four and a half mile walk five days a week.  Wherever I go, strangers stop to ask about her.  She draws a lot of attention because she is so cute.  Carlee puts a smile on so many faces.

Thank you again for my little girl!

Maureen Knipp

We have renamed Mr. Big Cat, Logan and we are absolutely in love! I am attaching a photo of the little guy.

Best,

Lauren and Brian

Faith is doing very well. I changed her name to Shirley and she responds very well to it. She's growing like crazy and has a very fun and friendly personality. I'll try to bring Shirley by soon for a visit.

Thanks,

Kevin Rudy

We took Tag home and he has been purring ever since! We lovingly call him Sinbad. It is a Persian name and his favorite place to rest is by the window over-looking the city on his Persian pillow :)  He enjoys meowing loudly, eating Science diet, sleeping on our heads, and pouncing around on the down comforter. Thank you PAWS for such a wonderful feline adoption :)

With love,

Julie & John

Sosa is a wonderful cat; very friendly sociable, and energetic! That last one surprised me, given that he's a heavier cat, but he loves to run up and down the stairs and chase shoelaces. He seems very happy to be at home with me, and I feel lucky to have him.

Clare Liss

Attached are is photo of the newest member of our family, Cara (PAWS name Farrah).  She is a 11 months old, yellow Lab who was found on the streets of Chicago and in need of a loving home. Everyone is adjusting well to the new responsibilities, including Cara who began obedience training this week.

- Pam

Mr. Cotton, now known as Bowie is doing great! Our other dog (Hendrix) loves him! Thanks again PAWS! (Bowie is the dog on the right)

- Eric

Matty's new name is Buddy. He is doing well. When we first brought him home - he was skinny at 11.5 pounds. After some loving, he is now a little bit over 13 pounds. He fights for attention with my other dog (who we had for over  6 years) - but they also have their moments when they get along well.

- Julie

The kitties are good. They sleep all day and party all night. Elizabeth is still very nervous around people and tends to run and hide when anyone comes near her, however she is much improved from before. I'm hoping that in time she'll become as comfortable as Bette. Bette is just discovering that jumping from high places won't kill her and she likes to run as fast as she can across the apartment and leap like a frog.

- Katie

Leon (PAWS name Julius) is doing very well. He has adjusted nicely to his new life and seems to feel like he is quite the king of his domain. He plays fetch (no joke) with his favorite mouse-toy, curls on my pillow at night as we fall asleep, and has even claimed his own chair at the kitchen table. He is greatly loved and absolutely cherished!

Sincerely,

Marvin (PAWS name Julio) has settled in quite nicely and thinks he is running the house. He is such a joy to have around and continues to keep me entertained with his silly antics. He likes to drag his bed around the house. Sometimes I will find it up on the couch surrounded by all his favorite toys. I have no idea how such a small dog can drag his bed from the floor to the couch, but manages to get it done. Thank you again for providing such a wonderful place for me to find the love of my life!

 - Sarah and Marvin

Things are going great with Ramsey (PAWS name Sarah)! She's still a big cuddler, always has to be on your lap or trying to get you to pet her.Her newest discovery is that she can open the kitchen cabinets, and when she can't be found that's normally where she's hiding.

 Thanks!

Emily

Kiwi (PAWS name Trisha) is doing great! As you can see from the picture, her and her big brother Bean get along very well! She is getting bigger and

bigger- and is more curious every day! She is clearly the boss of the house.

Thank you PAWS for all the work you do for the animals!

Kelly

Bones (PAWS name Patch) is doing really well. He graduated from his beginning training class a couple of weeks ago. We were all so proud of him. I attached a picture of his graduation!  He loves to have his head rubbed and fall asleep on our laps! Everything is going really well.

Thanks,

Ben Freville

Nelson (Baxter) and Welly (Yoshi) are doing great. We are so glad we found these guys. They are very laid back and lovable. We could notbe happier. Thanks PAWS!

- Karen

Thea, shortly Theodora is doing fine. We are in a middle of training. She is very smart and intelligent. Thea learned a lot in class - she knows how to sit, stay, and down. She also got used to her new surroundings very well.

- Irena

Ruby, formerly Emma, has been such a great addition to our family. Ruby loves her new toys and bed, but her favorite things to do are sleep, chase her sister Sasha around the house, and play with her new best friend Roy Borman, (our friend's dog). We love her so much, and can't imagine our lives without her. Thank you so much for bringing this wonderful little puppy into our lives!

Sincerely,

Erika and Adam Buchanan

Morty is doing very well and continues to be a welcome member of the family. While Morty and his father spend most days working at home together, Morty is particularly fond of the day a week or so that he gets to go to doggie day care and play with all of the other dogs. Here is a picure of Morty  :) Thank you so much for bringing Morty into our family!

Stefan

I just wanted to let you know that Perry is doing very well. He has really adjusted to his new home. He loves to play fetch and then take a naps on your lap. We gave Perry the full name of Perry Mason Coombes. Typically we call him Perry Mason(dog detective).  We like to say that because he was picked up outside the Cook Country Jail that he wasn't actually a stray but really solving a case.

Thanks,

Ryan Coombes

Nala (PAWS name Hanna) is doing great! She is getting big! She loves to play in the snow and hang out with her brother, Mac (he's the tan dog in the picture). She is a total sweetheart and we're so happy that she joined our family. Thanks so much for all you do!

Lauren and Dan

Cissy is doing great in her new home! She enjoys following us around the house and talking in different meows. Cissy loves to be around people, play fetch and get praised for scratching her scratching post. We're so happy to have her and  we love spoiling her. Thank you PAWS, for taking good care of our girl.

Sincerely,

Renee & Lori Mula

Here is a photo of Pokey in his new home.

- Paulina

Fargo is doing great! I adopted Fargo for my son Drew in June of 2007, and he has brought nothing but joy and plenty of happiness in our home. We are very grateful to PAWS Chicago for allowing Fargo to be a part of our family.

Thank you,

Brenda & Drew Leonard

Bunni has actually become a Lucy now.  I think the name suits her well. She's a complete momma's girl- following at my feet throughout the apartment all day, and curling up on the couch at night. She's also become quite a couch potato as you can see in the picture... making it well known that she's home and she's here to stay :)

Deana

Barclay is doing great. He's definitely come out of his shell - he's very playful and cuddly although still a little fearful of strangers, but that's OK. He loves to chase his ball down  the long hallway, and follow me from room to room.

Here's a glamour shot of him.

Kim

Anna and Rogie are doing just great with us. They are taking a basic obedience class at K9 University. They love to run around at the dog park, at our country home in Michigan and go for walks in the city. I have attached a photo of the girls.

- Jocelyn

Just dropping a note to let you know how Misty (PAWS name Blackie) is doing. She has been a great addition to the family. Everyone that has met her has loved her. She is very sweet and gentle. She loves to ride in the van, taking walks, and loved the first snow. Everyone that passed her up missed getting a great dog.

Damian, Irene and DJ Rodriguez

Thank you for allowing Kismet into our lives! We have changed her name to Lucy. We got the inspiration both from your Peanuts reference and from the fact that her personality resembles that of Lucy from Peanuts (at least in regard to her brother, Linus). She is spunky, sassy, affectionate and a wonderful addition to our home! Her and her brother Linus took to each other immediately! When they are not cuddling, they are having a blast running around the house chasing each other and wrestling. I am so impressed with PAWS and how well cared for the animals in it's care are. Thank you again for your help and making this adoption such a great experience!

Kaari

This is Morgan who I adopted on Sunday Dec. 9, 2007.  We are very happy together and getting along just fine. She has really taken the "STING" out of my heart, as I just lost my dog of 12 years .

Thanks,

Lonnie Fulton

I have attached below an updated picture of Brodey (formally known as Turner).

Thanks!

Adrienne Accardi

Dapper has been just great. My daughter Chloe and he get along very well.

- Anthony

Louie aka Tomahawk is doing great! He answers to his name, understands no, fetches his toy mouse, and has managed to somehow reach every high perch in my apartment. He keeps my apartment very entertaining and there is never a dull moment. Right at this moment, I'm watching him paw and meow at a mirror; he'll then go behind it to see what's on the other side. Much to his dismay, there is nothing there!

- Molly

Blondie is doing very well. She and our resident cat are the best of friends. They play, eat and sleep together. Blondie is getting pretty big now too. I have attached a recent photo of her. She is hard to take pics of b/c she is so rambunctious and won't hold still! I take whatever photo opps I can!

Enjoy.

Thanks,

Karen

Here's Jerry (PAWS name Jeremiah) in his favorite place: the kitchen!

- Ken

Lily (PAWS name Lauren) is doing wonderful! She is getting so big. She is the happiest little thing and makes our days so much better. She is already potty trained (for the most part) and we are working on tricks. She can do shake and speak already! I only have one picture available right now of Lily next to her first Christmas tree at our apartment, more to come!

Lots of Love,

Francesca, Kevin, and Lily!!!

Attached is a picture of Lucy (formerly Rhoda) during one of her calmer moments. She loves her long walks and chasing balls always returning them to the thrower. Right now she is cuddling in the corner of the couch watching me type this waiting to go to bed on her soft pillow.

John and Dale Walters

Our dog is doing great. She's loves our cats, but they have yet to reciprocate that love. Everyday seems to be a little bit better. Her name is now Billie - PAWS name Blackie (Fergie). She's very affectionate and loving with pretty much anyone (or any animal). The puppy  is a great addition to the family.

Brian & Tiffany Morrissey

We are keeping our new kitty IZZY (PAWS name Tessie). She has an incredible personality! I have 2 older cats 13 and 11, when they first met her the second day we brought her home, there was not one hiss or growl and there never has been; really amazing.

Thanks!

Louise

H
ere is a photo of Kodak (PAWS name Nick) enjoying his new forever home.

The kittens are doing great!  Lloyd is still Lloyd but we renamed Marbel to Mackey. I've attached a couple of photos of them...so many great ones to pick from it's tough.

Thanks!

Jeff Lemonds

Our dog Monty (we kept the name) is doing great!!! We love him dearly.  He's a wonderful addition to our family and we don't know how we've gotten by without him.  Thanks again for your help and your notes.

Thanks,

Jared and Kelly

I'm just writing to let you know that Catillac (now known as Charles) is doing wonderful in his new home! He and Chance, my other cat, became instant best friends. They chase each other playfully wrestling, give each other baths, and love cat napping together. "Charles" is quite a character, is very talkative, the sweetest, softest, most handsome guy around (in addition to Chance of course). We love him, and thank PAWS for all of the wonderful work that it's staff and volunteers do. I have never been so filled with joy upon walking into an animal shelter. The animals are so lucky to find their way to you.

Andrea Faught

I adopted Lexi (PAWS named her Mopsy) and she is doing great, she adapted very quickly. She keeps me busy since she is super playful and extremely curious, but she is also a great snuggle buddy! She is a treat to come home to!! I attached a picture of her and I.

- Ashley

Our little boy has quickly become a significant part of our family and still manages to snuggle his way deeper into our hearts more and more each day. A gentle pup, Arthur loves to cuddle up with his mom and dad, meet and play with other dogs of all shapes and sizes, running all over the place with his many toys. We are so lucky to be able to give him a home and will continue to give him the love and attention he deserves. Thank you PAWS for giving us our boy!

Ashley & Noah

After fostering 64 animals, it was time for me to adopt when my beloved adopted dog Sammy died suddenly last autumn. Charlie is very bright and full of humor, and brings smiles to everyone she meets. She will be a puppy for a long time, and I love telling potential adopters about the Green Dog exercise plan. I've lost 30 lbs. while she's gained 10. I'm grateful to PAWS for bringing such a loving and spirited companion into my life. She will be ready to start sharing her home with foster dogs very soon.

Chris

Nanook, now Norman, is doing great. Actually, my husband is playing hide and seek with him right now (one of their favorite games), and then we're going for a run. We start training classes tomorrow, which I think will be good for everyone! We love little Norman and couldn't imagine our lives without him. Attached is a picture that we used for our very first Christmas card. We appreciate all of the advice and feedback we've gotten, but don't be surprised if we call with more questions!  We are first time parents, you know.

Sincerely,                                                              Emily & Mike

Andre is absolutely delightful and has settled into his new home very well. He is extremely energetic, yet loving and even gives his big sister Mina a run for her money. They do race around and have been found snuggling each other in the middle of the night on our bed! Mina even licks him periodically like a loving mother! It's really sweet. Thank you for a positive adoption experience.

Teresa Hjerpe

Echo (we kept the name, lets just say it rang true) is the best friend anyone could ask for! We frequent wiggly field where he watches all those big dogs run around -sometimes he even does a little chasing himself but most of all, he loves sniffing the park. At home we have many window seats, all of which are now his domain, watching the people or the squirrels in the yard gets a good howl. I think the little ham is saying, "Hey look at me up here! This is my house!"

- Mark Lucas

Hi PAWS! It's me Coach! (PAWS name - Cocita) Things are going great here in my new home. I have two comfy beds, tons of toys and two wonderful big brothers named Bruno and Rocko. Here's a picture us! (I'm the little white one in the picture.) Bruno, Rocko and I are having a blast! I like to follow them around stealing their toys and nipping at their ankles - I think they're really starting to like me! I'm having fun with my new parents too - we're doing something called Obedience Class. We go to PAWS once a week to take the class. All I have to do is sit, walk, stay, come when I'm called, and they give me lots of treats! I can't believe what a sweet deal it is! Thanks PAWS - for taking care of me and finding me such a wonderful home!

Coach Smith-Doyle

Just sending an update on Arabella (formerly Flora). We are completely smitten with her! She is the snuggliest dog ever, and she loves to curl up between us on the couch and make cute "content doggy" noises. She's made lots of friends at the dog park and sometimes she likes to pretend she's a cat and jump up on the windowsill to check out what's happening down on the street. Thank you so much for giving us the opportunity to have Arabella in our family. We adore her!

Chris Bue & Chris Dickhut

Quigley is quite a joy. He is growing fast. But what a cutie. We did not change his name. Everyone who meets him just loves him. I am attaching a picture from our holiday cards.

The Kedrowski's

Colleen is doing just fine and seems to be enjoying her time with us immensely. She has, however changed her name. It is now "Amber." We have two homes, one in Evanston and one in Powers Lake, Wisconsin (just over the state line) which we go to each week. Otherwise, she has a lot of room to run and does so and she spends most of the day with one or another of us. We believe she thinks she is in Dog Heaven. Anyway, we are happy to have her and consider her a real asset to the family.

John Simpson

Peter's name is now Monty (short for Montgomery)and he has a great personality. Monty is healthy, he is spunky, playful, and full of personality. He and I have bonded really well and he gets along with all of my friends.

Best,

Sarah

It has been just over one year since we adopted our girl Lulu Belle and we can't be happier! Lu is still as goofy as ever and finally, we hope, has grown into her big paws - tipping the scale at 72lbs of love! She still can't contain her enthusiasm when people are around - she makes everyone giggle with her wiggly welcome and wagging tail. We can't remember what life was like before Lu and don't want to imagine what it would be like without her!

Lisa and Josh

I just wanted to let you know how much we love our little boys!! Jake (PAWS name Belushi) & Elwood (PAWS name Akroyd) are the sweetest boys!! They love to play and snuggle with each other (and us!). It took them about 10 minutes to feel at home, and now they have the run of the house. Each is developing their own little personalities - Elwood is a no-nonsense boy, not afraid of anything! Jake is a snuggler. If he isn't playing with his brother, he is on your lap and purring away! Thank you so much for our wonderful boys!! PAWS Chicago is amazing!

Heather & David Irwin

Phantom and Tex are both doing great. They're both extremely playful, friendly and well behaved, even when we took them to the vet. Here's a photo of them relaxing in the office.

- Robert Argeanton & Shellie Fiocca

Scrappy has been renamed Metro and is loving his new home and his fenced-in backyard. He likes to go nose-to-nose with the dog on the other side of the fence and he is very fond of belly rubs when I get home from work. He's very smart!

Mike O'Malley

Rosie's name was changed to Lola. She's such a wonderful dog! Lola has started puppy school and has proven to be very intelligent; she is going to be a breeze to train. Lola enjoys going on long walks and playing with other dogs. I'm so happy I made the decision to adopt her. Thank you for all of your help!

Theresa Berdiel

We have changed Flaco's name to R2 and he is doing great. He is a perfect addition to our family.

Thank you for all of your help!

The Travers Family

I'm happy to report Harry (PAWS name Zack) is doing great! He LOVES everyone, dogs of all sizes, ice and peanut butter. He's healthy as can be, very playful and sweet. We're so happy to have adopted and from such a wonderful place like PAWS. Thanks again for Harry, we love him!

- Lisa Cardilli

H
ere is a photo of Snoopy (PAWS name Wilamina) enjoying her  new home.

Thanks,
Joseph Malcuso

Hank is doing great! I am amazed how fast he is growing! Hank is a blast to have at home. He's quickly learned how to jump on everything in the house and he particularly enjoys watching the fish. He will spend hours sitting in front of the fish tank either attempting to get at the fish or making sure they don't get out of his sight. Hank is also very social. Whenever friends and family come over he's the first to great them at the door and demand their attention.  Hank has also become my personal alarm clock - usually waking me up about 10 minutes before the alarm goes off every morning!

- Abby

Goldie is doing pretty well. I've renamed her Murphy. Murphy Girl formally, because everyone asks when I tell them Murphy's name, whether or not she's a girl, so I just added it as a middle name and given her beautiful auburn coat, she just seems to have a little Irish (or Irish Setter) in her!  I hope to find another yellow lab through PAWS in the coming months to add to the family and keep energetic Murphy happy!

- Elizabeth

Brandy's doing great! My roommate was fostering her and even though I've always been a cat person, she's the sweetest puppy and I just fell in love. Her new name is Penny and she's settled in nicely to her new home. She's getting bigger every day, but the cat still likes to chase her around the house. Here's a picture of her enjoying her first snow.

Jame

Just writing to let you know that J.D. (formerly Oscar)  is doing GREAT! He has adapted well to his new home and is excelling in obedience training. He is one of best dogs in his obedience class. The instructor has commented numerous times how quickly he learns and responds to commands. He's the best dog I've ever had and he has become a wonderful companion. Thanks again.

Mike Landando

Pokey is doing great. His name has remained the same. He seems to like his new home a lot. He's such a big joy to me and my sister - he scuttles all the time and loves to be scratched. Attached is a picture of him. Thank you for everything.

-Paulina

Sisters Wilhelmina (PAWS name Thelma) and Chloe (PAWS name Louise) are doing great. They steal the show wherever we go. At home in their crate they cuddle beyond belief and out of the crate they like to wrestle. There is never a dull moment. They just mastered "lay down" and now will hit the floor at moments notice hoping for the treat. We couldn't be happier with our choice and so happy for all the advice PAWS gave us as part of the adoption.
