PAWS Chicago Alumni

Hi PAWS,
Grady is doing great. He's such a sweet cat and did very well with traveling to Michigan and back twice over the holidays. We love him very much. Happy New Year!
- Erin Purdy

Dear PAWS,
Just checking in for Chauncey Billups and Lovey Smith (formerly Kit 'n Kaboodle). They are growing like weeds! I bet Chauncey is going to be a big boy. We love them both. Thanks so much!
Cheers,
Jim Zimmer

Hi PAWS Chicago -
We just adopted Wrigley (formerly Tom Tom) recently and we have completely fallen in love with him. He has already found a favorite napping spot on our sofa as well as a cozy place on our bed. He loves to cuddle with my husband, but if I leave the room, he gets up to follow me. Surprisingly, we think he would make a good guard cat, as he let out a little growl when he heard our neighbor's back door open! He was also a
very good boy the for his first day alone while my husband and I were at work. Thank you PAWS! - Aaron & Marie Jackimowicz

Hi PAWS!
Tufi kept his name and once home immediately found a warm place to snooze, in the output tray of his dad's laser printer. This picture was taken within a week of his early November adoption. A hyperactive, hyper-affectionate little fella, he calmed down about 10 days ago when his new "brother" (another PAWS alum named Gilead) joined the family. Now they romp together, play hockey with
toys and groom each other. We'll send a picture of the two of them soon but for now, enjoy this one of Tufi. Best, Danièle

Hi PAWS Chicago,
Jada (now known as Maki) is doing fantastic! She is the cutest, sweetest thing ever. She loves to snuggle and is always there in the morning with a gentle nudge to the hand. We are so happy that she and Ramen (our other PAWS adoptee, Symba) get along so well. They are even starting to play together. We love them both to death!
- Rick and Michelle Kinney

Sadie (formerly Voodoo) is doing wonderful. She's another joy PAWS has added to our family. As you can see, she gets along great with our other PAWS dog we adopted in September 2005 named Tucker. Tucker loves having Sadie around and all they do is play, play, and play some more. They are the best of buddies! :) Thanks for all you do to support animals like these two. We love them so much! Sincerely, Matt and Ryan Schiltz

Hi PAWS,
Buddy Blue's new name is now Chulo and everything is going great! Chulo is still potty training and is catching on for the most part. He is full of energy and has about a million toys all throughout the house. He is a great pup; we love him so much! Thanks for everything!
- Mikala and Diego

Hi PAWS,
Thanks for everything. I wanted to pass along a photo of Madigan and Brownie (who is now named Ruth). They're doing quite well. Happy New Year,
Cliff

Hi PAWS,
Things are going great with Roscoe, now called Trapper. He's doing great and we couldn't be happier with him. As you can see, he's really grown up since his time at PAWS! Happy New Year!
- Wendy

Dear PAWS Chicago,
Meyer, previously known at PAWS as Fredo, is doing great. The attached photo of Meyer Lansky Levine is from about 1-2 months ago. Thanks so much - enjoy!
- Michael Levine

Hi PAWS Chicago,
Our cats Stevie and Fergie (renamed Misa and Nico, respectively) have been doing absolutely great, and I'd be hard-pressed to think of any better felines I've ever known. We give these cats a lot of love. They've been really great, healthy cats, and I've told all of my friends to go straight to PAWS if they're ever interested in adopting a new friend. Thank you! - Damon Beres

Hi PAWS Chicago -
Keva (formerly known as Hazel) is fine. She's a bundle of energy and sometimes is a little crazy. She's the most lovable and gentle dog with everyone in the family and anyone who visits. She's also a great watchdog when someone comes to the door she doesn't know. She's gone from 60 lbs. when we first got her to being 75 lbs. now and she still seems to be growing! As big as she is, she still loves being held and getting hugs. We're very glad to have Keva as part of our family. - Maureen Wojcik

Hi PAWS Chicago,
Tweetie, now known as Gracie, is doing well. She is adorable and so much fun to take care of. I am so happy I was able to adopt her. She makes me happy every time I see her. Thanks!
- Jaclyn

Hi everyone at PAWS Chicago!
AXL (previously known as Seth) is doing great. He seems to love his new home and we love him. He has been a great addition to our family. The kids still enjoy feeding and walking him even after 3 months. My son is his best friend; they are together all day. Axl really enjoys going to the park and playing with the other dogs. He loves to run and wrestle with them. He has grown since we first brought him home. He is 5 months and 33 pounds now! - The Kells Family

Hi PAWS,
Ted is doing very well and definitely became a special part of my home. Thanks and have a happy new year!
- Kayoko Iida

Dear PAWS Chicago,
Albany is doing great. She loves playing with the other two dogs. She sleeps on the bed with my dad and follows him all around the house. She loves my niece and nephew who are 7 and 4 years old. She had her checkup at the vet yesterday and they said that she is doing fine. I am so glad that we found her through PAWS.
- David Brichacek

Hi PAWS,
Sal is now known as Saul, and he is doing very well. He had his second round of vaccinations a couple weeks ago and got a clean bill of health. He was up to 12 pounds, about 5 pounds more than his November check up! We're thinking he has to be at least 15 by now. It seems he's going through a huge growth spurt right now. He's been going for long walks a couple times a day with Adam and I and is great on a leash. He came with us to my parents house for Christmas and was so good with the kids. My 4 year old half brother adores him, and Saul was very well behaved playing with the little ones. Our cat is still a little bossy with him but they are getting better. He likes to bring toys to her, which is pretty cute. We're
thinking of starting some agility training once he's old enough. He makes his own obstacle course out of our chairs and coffee table so it might be right up his alley. Happy new year to you all! - Jasmine Busch

Hi PAWS!
There's not a day that I'm not thankful for having Sparky as by best friend and buddy. He's always with me, at sleep, work, and play. He's a total lap cat. He also has many purr settings. The minute I say, "I'm so glad
we're together," he vibrates. He also remembers your name. There's not a day so far that I'm not thankful for you helping me and Sparky get together. - Paul Gardner

Hello PAWS Chicago.
We just wanted to say hello, while our older siblings, Harry and Maya weren't paying attention. I'm Fred (PAWS Name Jackson) - the handsome, fluffy one. And she's Maude (PAWS Hurricane Katrina), the shy, sleek one. We both love playing in the lake and wrestling with each other, and Maude really likes the snow. I haven't seen any yet, so I don't know if I do. We make our mom and dad laugh a lot, but the six of us
think we're pretty lucky we all found each other. - Chris & Charles

Hi PAWS Chicago,
I just wanted to let you know Lady D (formerly known as Rosa) is awesome! She has had full run of the house while I am at work for a week now without any problems. She still chases my cat Gracie but they both seem to enjoy it. She loves attention so she tends to be quite jealous when I pet the cats. We're still working on that minor issue so no one's feelings get hurt but everyone is doing great! Thanks!
- Heather de Ridder

Hi PAWS,
Chantilly Lace is now known as Krush. Although from Mississippi, she has accustomed well with Chicago and is loved by all. Can you believe she has some dog-like qualities, though, as in fetching the ball and bringing it back again and again! Thanks, PAWS.
- Kristiina Kink

Hello everyone at PAWS Chicago!
We just wanted to wish you and your families a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Rusty is doing very well in obedience class. Our trainer has given us the tools to teach our dogs to leave a treat on their paw until we say take it! Chloe is already doing it and Rusty isn't very far behind. The old saying "you can't teach an old dog new tricks" is wrong. We have four
more weeks to go, and I can already see huge improvements in him (and Chloe). Chloe and Rusty have taken to sleeping curled up next to each other, playing together, going outside together, eating together; they do everything together! They act as if they have been friends forever! We are going to have a wonderful Christmas: Santa is definitely bringing goodies for both Chloe & Rusty! I cannot thank everyone at PAWS enough! You took such great care of Rusty until we found him! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! Rusty is the perfect addition to our family. We feel as if he has always been there!
Sincerely, Melissa & Allison Reno, Proud Adopted Pet Owners

Hi PAWS Chicago!
Molly and Sam are great! I have included a recent picture of the new additions to my family, and as you can see, they have grown so much! They both are quite mischievous but a lot of fun. My son and I are very pleased with the trouble they have brought to our home. :) Thanks again!
 - Jennifer Reid

Hi PAWS!
Merry Christmas and Happy (insert all other winter holidays here), from everyone's favorite mutt!  Thanks for helping us get together with the best dog (Jack) in the world.
- Bob & Magda

Hi PAWS Chicago,
Zito (PAWS name Mew Mew) is fantastic! He's the sweetest little guy and we have a lot of fun together. He's definitely getting pretty big, too! Thanks so much!
- Jackie Edwards

Hi PAWS Chicago,
Kelly and I wanted to check in with you on the progress of Baxter (known as Duke at PAWS). Baxter is getting settled into his new home very well. He's very energetic and a good puppy. Baxter has been doing very well at puppy training and is one of the better behaved puppies in his class. He is really good with other people and loves socializing with other dogs. He has two neighbor dogs (one a puppy, albeit a big one, a 70 lb. bull mastiff) who
he loves playing with and often tires himself out with a big puppy smile. The only negative is that our cat, Mickey, is still getting used to him and Baxter is pretty good with Mickey except that he wants to run around and play with him and Mickey just isn't into that just yet. You can see from the picture he is already getting so big. Thank you! - Luke and Kelly Miller

Dear PAWS,
Turner is healing just fine and fits in perfectly with our family. Thanks for all your help. Attached is a picture of our other cat Patches (black and white) with Turner (orange tabby) sleeping together. Thanks for everything!
- Dan Verr

Dear PAWS Chicago,
Derby (formerly known as Jeep) is doing well. He has acclimated to city living quite nicely. He is a bundle of energy but also likes to lay around and snuggle. His favorite place is the dog park. He seems to be the happiest when he's around other dogs. He just graduated from beginner obedience class last week. We're so proud of him. Derby loves looking through the trash and stealing socks, but as long as he gets enough exercise he really
tries to behave himself. He loves to shake and roll over for treats, too. He weighs almost 40 pounds now, and I'm not sure he's going to get much bigger. The vet thinks he's close to one year old so he shouldn't grow much more, but you never know! Derby has been a lot of responsibility, but it's definitely all worth it. He's just such a cutie!  Sincerely, Emily Patton

Hi PAWS -
Jimbo (now Leo) is doing very well and is very happy to be playing all the time with his new brother Achilles. He's very active and very interested in water, which makes even washing hands interesting. Achilles is on the left, and Leo is on the right in the picture.
Best, Michaelia Fosses

Hi PAWS Chicago,
It's Julie, Hope's (PAWS name White Tiger') new mom. She is doing very well and we love her so much. She has the sweetest meow that turns a bit crazy around dinner time! She is normally a little afraid of men, but she rubbed on Jason's (my boyfriend) leg and let him pet her the other day. She has also been jumping up on the couch and bed with me and allows me to pet her when she is laying down, whereas before she was too timid and
would jump down. I would say in the last month she has been doing incredibly well. Sam (my other cat) has been warming up to her a lot as well. They lay together and lick each other's heads, and it is all very sweet and cute. She is definitely a permanent part of the family! :)         - Julie Luketich

Hi PAWS Chicago,
The boys, known as Kelso & Tatagata (PAWS names Hobart & Brisbane), are doing well. We got them a beautiful cat tree and are feeding them homemade food regularly for breakfast. Brisbane is super-active, chasing phantoms nightly. Hobart, on the other hand, has a complete opposite personality and naps a lot.
Best, Shuli Ren
