Mission
The mission of PAWS Chicago's Community Outreach and Humane Education Program is to support PAWS Chicago's efforts to alleviate our city's tragic pet overpopulation problem -- 19,701 homeless pets were euthanized in 2006 alone! PAWS Chicago envisions a no-kill Chicago--a city in which pets are not destroyed just because they are homeless.  In order to accomplish this goal we have a three pronged approach:  innovative adoption programs, targeted spay and neuter and humane education.

Get involved!
We believe the solution to pet overpopulation is spay/neuter - first and foremost!
We need your help spreading the word about our spay and neuter services at the Lurie Family Spay/Neuter Clinic. Volunteer your time to help educate the public about responsible pet ownership, the benefits of spaying and neutering pets and the humane treatment of all animals. Volunteer opportunities include:

  • working at the Lurie Clinic
  • humane education presentations for children
    and adults
  • creating PowerPoint presentations
  • working at fairs, festivals and food pantries
  • basic office administrative help:
    research, mailings, phone calls
  • helping with various CAN TV and other media events

Comprehensive training is provided to every volunteer
