PAWS Chicago's Fosters of the Week

We can save more animals with your help! By fostering a homeless pet, you are enabling us to have more space at the shelter to take in more animals. There are hundreds of puppies and kittens sitting at the city pound awaiting their fate. The more we can take in, the more lives we can save. One of the main reasons we need puppies and kittens in foster homes is because they have depressed immunities at young ages, and until they’re fully vaccinated, they’re more susceptible to getting sick. We also need foster homes for animals that are recovering from surgery and some that are too shy or timid to enter our Adoption Center…. these are just a few examples.

Due to the current economy, PAWS Chicago has also created a CRISIS CARE program. Our CRISIS CARE program was designed to help people who have lost their jobs and homes. By taking these animals into our care temporarily, these individuals are able to get back on their feet without losing their best friend.

Here are this week’s homeless pets most in need of a foster home...

Gus, Shadow, and Sam
Age - 7 years, 1 year, 1 year

Reason for Foster - Gus, Shadow, and Sam came to PAWS Chicago because their owner was evicted from his home and did not have anywhere to take the dogs. Gus is hearing impaired and really relies on his “brother” Sam to help him out. It would be great if all three could be fostered together. The foster period will be about 1-3 months.

Molly Mollasses & Norman of Orange
Age - 6 months

Reason for Foster -Molly and Norman were relinquished to PAWS Chicago when their owner could no longer care for them. They are still kittens and very playful. Both kittens will be attending the Adopt-A-Thon and hoping to find their forever homes there. These kittens will need to be fostered until December 5.

Sharkey
Age - 7 years

Reason for Foster - Sharkey is a laid back cat who often prefers his own company. He doesn’t mind other cats but doesn’t actively seek them out to snuggle or play. Once he gets to know you, he is interested in interacting and hanging out with you. We are looking for a foster home with adults only or older children to help him get some extra exposure and to get some additional feedback about how wonderful he is in a home! The foster period would be about one month.

Sweety Pie, Cuddles, Kissy Girl, and Snuggle Bear
Age - 11 weeks

Reason for Foster - These spaniel mixes are going to the Adopt-a-thon on 12/5. They will need to be fostered all together or in pairs and come back to 26th Street the week of the 23rd for vaccines and surgery. Pups are currently being treated for a mild cold and should go to a home without other dogs or a home that can separate them from other dogs.

Lorenzo
Age - 3 months

Reason for Foster - Lorenzo is a Shep mix puppy that will be going to the Adopt-a-thon on 12/5. Lorenzo will need to come back on the 29th or 30th for surgery and vaccines. Lorenzo is healthy and can go home with other animals.

Muddles
Age - 4 months

Reason for Foster - Muddles is a Beagle mix that will be going to the Adopt-a-thon on 12/5. Muddles will need to come back on the 29th or 30th for surgery and vaccines. He is healthy and can go home with other animals.

Gloria
Age - 4 months

Reason for Foster - Gloria is a Shep./Collie mix that will be going to the Adopt-a-ton on 12/5. She will need to come back on the 29th or 30th for surgery and vaccines. Gloria is healthy and can go home with other animals.
