Commitment: 12 - 20 hours per week over a 3-6-month semester, minimum 100 hours

PAWS Chicago is looking for an energetic, organized, detail-oriented team-player who has a passion for animals and promoting the No Kill movement. The Athletic Fundraising Events Intern helps to ensure the success of two critical PAWS Chicago fundraising programs, TEAM PAWS Chicago and the PAWS Chicago 5K Walk/Run. The ideal candidate will be able to take direction from multiple team members, but also be proactive and work independently; all while being able to prioritize, stay organized, and keep a strong attention to detail. Qualified candidates will also have excellent communication, research and creating thinking skills, and will be proficient in Microsoft Office and Excel. Additionally, must have the ability to learn specific, web based, e-marketing and fundraising web sites.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assisting with event logistics and inventory management
- Responding to incoming inquiries (email, phone) about events
- Researching and prospecting for event needs, including but not limited to, in-kind donations, vendors, etc.
- Preparing event supplies for event operations
- Mail merging and sending out fundraising materials and prizes
- Assist with phone calls/emails to current and prior PAWS Chicago 5K and TEAM PAWS Chicago participants
- Filing, data entry, answering phones, responding to general emails and other administrative tasks as needed
Requirements
- Assisting at events and meetings as needed
- Must be able to stand/walk for extended periods of time and can lift up to 30lbs
- Passion for animals and animal welfare
- Outstanding written and personal communication skills, with great attention to detail
- Energetic team player who encompasses a friendly, helpful demeanor
- Must be organized and an excellent multi-tasker
- Must be able to quickly learn the organization departments and programs
- Interest in providing administrative support to help strengthen efficiency, productivity, and workflow
- Experience with Microsoft Office; knowledge of Raiser’s Edge a plus
- A genuine interest in, and desire to learn more about animal welfare and the No Kill movement
