Volunteers of the Month single view | PAWS Chicago

Bobbie Gray

In 2022 alone, Bobbie Gray volunteered an incredible 365 hours of service at PAWS Chicago. But her relationship with PAWS started back in 2018.

“I had a great experience adopting my first PAWS cat and knew I wanted to be part of the organization. Now, I volunteer in Kitty City at LPAC and have fostered two longer-term cats,” said Bobbie.

Bobbie especially enjoys working with cats who need more experienced adopters.

“I like learning what type of interactions/home is going to lead to a successful relationship for the cat and adopter. I love animals and want all to find great homes.”

Just like PAWS, Bobbie believes every animal, no matter their circumstances, deserves a second chance.

“Animals can be scared and/or have just been through a traumatic experience when they arrive at PAWS and are not always able to show us their true personality. The No Kill mission gives animals who need a little extra time or care a chance and a safe space until they are ready for adoption.”

Bobbie has experienced this firsthand many times.

“My favorite PAWS experiences have been developing relationships with some of our cats that have demonstrated behavioral needs and learning they are love bugs just waiting for the right adopter.”

But Bobbie’s persistence always pays off.

“Volunteering at PAWS, I have learned there is a person for every animal. Sometimes, we just need to be patient.”

“Do it! Don't be intimidated. You will learn as you go and there are always volunteers or staff there to help.”
