Bonnie Morgan has been a beacon of hope for countless animals, witnessing tens of thousands of lives transformed as a dedicated PAWS volunteer. For her, it’s not just a commitment; it’s a lifelong passion that has reshaped the very essence of animal welfare for the past decade. Every rescued creature tells a story of love and second chances, and Bonnie is at the heart of it all.
A decade ago, Bonnie was seeking opportunities to help homeless pets as a lifetime animal lover. Her answer turned out to be just two minutes from her home. Since the day she signed up to volunteer, she’s dedicated nearly 3,000 hours of volunteer work—that's the equivalent of 1.5 years of a full-time job—cuddling thousands of animals throughout the past decade!
She's taken on many roles over that time, serving as a Dog Town volunteer, Adoption Counselor, Visiting Volunteer Host, Community Events Ambassador, and more! She works tirelessly to help animals regain trust in humans, especially anxious dogs, creating a peaceful environment that encourages connections with potential adopters.
PAWS Chicago saves homeless animals and promote a No Kill policy through robust spay and neuter programs. Bonnie says she appreciates the organization’s data-driven approach, which focuses on improving outcomes for pets through careful analysis and compassionate action.
Throughout the years, Bonnie has had a lot of memorable experiences at PAWS. She was so helpful to one couple during their adoption process, they ended up naming their new wire-haired puppy after her! Each day, volunteering is guaranteed to bring something new, and Bonnie is sure there is a place for everyone at PAWS.
“Becoming a volunteer opens a whole world of opportunities that will enable one to make a difference in the lives of so many animals,” says Bonnie. “Each of us has special talents that we bring to our volunteering.”
At home, Bonnie shares her life with Freddy Mercury Morgan, a spirited five-year-old lab. In her free time, she enjoys baking, gardening, and reading Nordic Noir, as well as traveling to destinations that deepen her appreciation for wildlife.
Bonnie is proud to be part of the PAWS Chicago family, working with compassionate teammates to ensure every pet finds a loving home. Her commitment to animal welfare truly embodies the PAWS spirit of hope and compassion.
Thank you, Bonnie, for 10 years of tireless efforts helping PAWS save as many homeless pets as possible. Here’s to 10 more!
