Connor Mish

“I have made so many great memories and friends at PAWS. I really can’t think of my life without it.”

Connor Mish joined PAWS in January of 2019 as a senior in college. As part of a group project, he was required to volunteer at a non-profit.

“My group chose PAWS as the place they wanted to go. I was hooked after my first official Level 1 shift. I sent my former professor a note after I made it to an L3 thanking her for having us do this project.”

Today, Connor’s primary role at PAWS is as a Level 3 Dog Town volunteer and social committee co-chair. Connor has also worked on several off-site events, like Beach Party and Fur Ball, and as an associate location manager for our off-site adoption events.

“I also joined the Fun Run in the summer months, which has become my favorite program to participate in. The dogs absolutely love going out in the world and getting a few hours in the beautiful weather to burn off some energy!”

Connor is particularly passionate about giving challenging animals a fair chance at finding the perfect home.

“I have seen so many dogs come through the doors who I know not many other organizations would even consider taking in, and we have such a great team of staff and volunteers who are dedicated to helping give these animals a meaningful life.”

One such animal was a dog named Electra—Connor’s first challenging dog after becoming an L3 and his Fun Run buddy for an entire summer.

“For many people who remember Electra, she had her quirks, but looking past those, she was a big softy that loved nothing more than to cuddle and get as many belly rubs as you could give her. She got adopted just shy of being in the shelter for a year and is happy as a clam in her new home.”

Connor is excited to continue his journey as a PAWS volunteer and invites you to join him. Interested in joining the team? Here’s Connor’s advice:

“Be open to the challenge! Be friendly! Pick a regular shift and stick with it!”
