Volunteers of the Month single view | PAWS Chicago

Doug Rosskamm

Doug Rosskamm has been a PAWS Chicago volunteer since 2019, tackling essential tasks that keep our organization running smoothly.

“Many think volunteers only work in direct contact with the animals, but there are a wide range of opportunities to use your talents in the organization. I work with the Development group, working on various constituent database issues,” said Doug.

Database maintenance is a big job and it’s critical to maintaining relationships with our PAWS community of passionate homeless pet advocates.

“Data cleaning allows PAWS to stay in contact with those in the PAWS family who may have moved and not notified us. It also allows us to use our resources efficiently and effectively.”

Doug is proud to be a part of PAWS and appreciates the commitment to saving lives that goes with the No Kill mission. He also particularly likes PAWS Chicago’s TNR (trap-neuter-release) programs for community cats, which spays and neuters cats trapped by our team or local colony caretakers registered with PAWS.

“To me, this is the biggest responsibility we have as a society—to help prevent unwanted animals from being born in the first place.”
