PAWS Chicago and CACC have a 28-year history of working collaboratively to save the lives of Chicago’s cats and dogs. Rescue Together is part of our ongoing efforts to build No Kill communities. By adopting a homeless pet, you’re not just changing their life forever—you’re freeing up space and resources to save another pet from potential euthanasia.

Rescue Together Event Details & FAQs

Walk-ins are welcome. To adopt on the spot, please make sure to bring everyone in your household, including resident dogs.

We will have a waiting area where resident dogs can relax with volunteers while you visit with adoptable animals. If you fall in love, we’ll set up an introduction with your resident dog to make sure it’s a good fit.

PAWS Chicago, Chicago Animal Care and Control, Border Tails Rescue, Chicago English Bulldog Rescue, Forever Fortunate Felines, and St. Sophia's Forgotten Felines.

We will have cats, kittens, dogs and puppies of all ages looking for their adopted homes. Adoption counselors will be available to help you find the perfect match.

Yes, if you plan to adopt, please bring resident dogs and be sure to review our adoption process.

The process varies from rescue to rescue, but it generally includes an application, meet-and-greet, adoption fee details, and various requirements. Our goal is to ensure the best fit for both you and the animal. You can view adoption processes for participating shelters below:

Adoption fees range from fee-waived (only at CACC) to up to $550 and typically include vaccinations, spay/neuter, microchip, etc. Fees help us continue rescuing and caring for more animals.
