Please join us for the Spring Adopt-a-Thon on Friday, May 16 through Sunday, May 18. The PAWS Chicago Pippen Fasseas Adoption Center will extend its adoption hours for this special three-day adoption marathon in an effort to help more than 100 homeless dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens! Its goal is to both save lives through adoption and raise awareness around the issue of pet overpopulation and the needless killing of homeless animals.
Adopt-a-Thon Hours
Friday, May 16: 12:00 p.m. - 12:00 a.m.
Saturday, May 17: 11:00 a.m. - 11:00 p.m.
Sunday, May 18: 11 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Cats and dogs are still being turned into shelters in alarming numbers. By working with the community, PAWS Chicago is hoping to give these special animals a second chance. When you adopt from an animal shelter or rescue organization, you are not just saving one life; you are helping to create the space we need to rescue more animals.
Help PAWS Chicago make this adoption event a success and find new homes for animals by stopping by our Pippen Fasseas Adoption Center in Lincoln Park for this life-saving adoption marathon!
Spring Adopt-A-Thon Event Details & FAQs
With spring approaching the kitten population is increasing and shelters are seeing an influx of homeless pets. The adoption center’s extended hours and increased appointments available will help maximize the lifesaving opportunities at the start of this season.
We will have cats, kittens, dogs and puppies of all ages looking for their adopted homes. Adoption counselors will be available to help you find the perfect match.
Yes! We encourage all members of the family looking to adopt to come and enjoy the pet meet-and-greet.
To adopt a pet from PAWS Chicago, you must:
- Be at least 21 years of age
- Have a U.S. government-issued photo ID, such as a driver's license or state ID
- Verify that you are allowed to have a pet of the breed and size where you currently live
- Be able to spend the time and resources necessary to provide the training, medical treatment and proper care for your pet
- Bring along all family members (including children) to meet your new cat or dog. Be sure to bring any resident dogs if you are adopting a dog.
- Be able to take the pet home on the day of adoption
- Be available to spend up to an hour with an Adoption Counselor to discuss the responsibility of owning a pet and making a lifetime commitment
- Spay or neuter any resident pets before you adopt. This is the most important thing you can do to help stop pet overpopulation, and also gives your pet many health and behavioral benefits!*
*We understand there are some responsible reasons why you might choose to not spay or neuter your pet. If that is the case in your home, please bring along the related veterinary records and ask to speak to a manager who will help determine whether we are able to approve your application to adopt.
Walk-ins are welcome at the Pippen Fasseas Adoption Center. However, making an appointment is the most efficient way to adopt a pet.
Adoption fees range from 1/2 off on select pets to up to $550 and include vaccinations, spay/neuter, microchip, etc. Fees help us continue rescuing and caring for more animals.
