Hello, I'm Ida
Ida's very curious about all things water and won a date with a towel when her curiosity got the best of her and she jumped into the tub.
Ida's Story
Thanks so much for a great process. We have named her Ida, and she's adjusting really well to her new home. The introduction process with our "older" cat, Alma (a year and a half old Bengal Tabby with a strong play drive--also a Paws alum under my wife, Lizabeth Huey's, name) took a bit longer than we expected with a bit of jealousy from Alma. But Ida is a total snuggler who enjoys playing as well, and within a week or so, the two had figured out whose toys were whose and which could be shared, how to share food dishes and treats, and what side of the bed each sleeps on. Ida's eating well and already growing.
Ida's favorite toy, which she drops at our feet or on any doorway we're about to walk through, is a ribbon attached to a string. Within a few days, she'd figured out how to jump up to our bed and drop it by our hands for more fetch and tug of war. Ida has started to be an active participant in Alma's favorite game, hide and seek, and the two have exciting games of chase & tackle when I wake up in the early morning. Finally this weekend, Alma grew comfortable enough to nap side by side with her new little sister. They're also loving their new scratching post, which they won after they tied in their furniture shredding competition :) Ida's also following Alma's lead and pouncing on stuffed animals and watching the squirrels and birds from the windowsill, a hunting instinct she didn't show at first.
Her adoption file noted that she had trouble grooming herself, and she's a bit clumsy with the litterbox and food, flipping them over, but then tries to clean it up. Ida has a very sweet heart. Her tail looks like it was broken when she was a very young kitten, but that too is not a sensitive spot, since she likes to chase it. Grooming is going better because she's starting to mirror Alma, who's a very clean cat. Ida's very curious about all things water and won a date with a towel when her curiosity got the best of her and she jumped into the tub. One final reason why Ida is a great cat: she loves wrestling her human's arms and shaking hands, but never puts her claws out when she does this. While she gets into the usual kitten mischief, she's unusually careful with human skin, luckily for us.
