Schaumberg's Story

 Dear Paws,

We brought Schaumberg home on July 27th and our lives were forever changed. He is now affectionately known as Redford, after the great actor, Robert, but mostly we named him that because it went so well with his shiny red coat.We are currently in week 5 of our 6 week in-person (masks on!) puppy training class at Tucker Pup’s, and this week we are learning to “wait by the door.”This summer, we went hiking at Waterfall Glen Forest Preserve in Illinois, swimming at the beach in Indiana, and we even stayed at a cabin in Onekama, Michigan for four nights surrounded by trees and close to the beach on Lake Michigan (aka our favorite place ever). We love to sleep by the window in mom’s office because it overlooks the street and we can watch the other dogs in the neighborhood walk by as we bark at them.We also recently had our first puppy play date with another Paws Alumni, Luna, and she wore us out!We can sit, lie down, stand, stand UP, stay, leave it, come, and spin, and we learned all of that before class because we love to watch Zac George’s YouTube channel. We still really don’t like the car, but we’ve tried a car seat and a thunder shirt, and we’re working on getting better because usually when we get in the car it’s to go somewhere really fun.We have been to the vet a few times already, once for a bee sting, once for a checkup exam, and once for our follow-up flea medication weigh-in. We are 9 pounds and teething, and on our trip this weekend, we lost both of our baby fangs on the bottom! We love chicken, cheese, braided chew sticks, popsicles from Pretty Cool Ice Cream, hiking, snuggling under the covers in the morning when it’s nice and warm, and running on the beach is our newest and most favorite thing to do. We are so grateful to be united!
Thanks for everything, Paws!
